Couple of oldies, both circa 1990.

East Scenic heading into the Cascade Tunnel. Overpass is US2 with Skykomish to the West ( right ). The higher cut is 'Surprise Creek Trail' of which you can not see now days.

Almost to West Scenic. Don't know why power is running heavy as it is down grade from East Cascade Tunnel ( Berne ) to Monroe.

These are scans from chemical - into DarkTable, adjusted and saved as jpg.

Keep these coming. For me it was a treat to see a few cascade green units on this trip.

Front end Friday
7/25/2025

A couple corporate visitors from Greg McComas’s Michigan Interstate are gracing the rails of my fictional Wisconsin River Valley and Terminal RR (WRVT) in Central Wisconsin.

2 Michigan Interstate motors a F7 A unit # 701 and B unit #702 that normally pull the MCIS business train is visiting corporate family member rails in Wisconsin. Having already visited Robert Welke’s Wisconsin and Upper Michigan (W&UM) via Alan Schroeder’s BN Marias Pass (not part of the MCIS Borg) it is now on the rails of the WRVT for a few more days. Since the WRVT does not currently have a business train the F7 units will be put to work hauling freight between Rothschild, Wisconsin and CN’s Steven Point yard. The corporate visitors will tour the property via hi-rail vans

The Wisconsin Interstate (WCIS) is still waiting to finalize the sale of the WRVT RR to the WCIS. Meanwhile the Wisconsin Interstate units 4021 and 4024 both Gp40-2L’s are working the properties

Next week the MCIS units will be heading to Denver

Another shot heading toward West Scenic in/on the siding. Geesh, how I like being up close and personal! Those days, usually a wave with a honk gets returned.

Will look for some more for next Friday!

I just noticed that in the first shot, there is a rare beast in the form of GP39-2 rebuilt out of GP30 and having a standard GP cab. First time i saw one was two years ago when driving across the prairies in Montana. I wish i've made more effort to photograph that one even though it was running alongside in a lashup. Having failed to hunt one down last year, i finally caught one in southeast part of Washington in the city of Pasco:

Nice shot that last one. I was thinking about the same setup, but decided to climb up the mountain instead for my pictures.

Wabash and a trolley somewhere in Wisconsin on a tourist railroad.

I'm not sure about the history of this unit, but to my knowledge only Pennsylvania Railroad and Milwaukee Road ordered the EMD streamlined diesels with those lift rings on the nose on either side of the front door. Pictures taken in the middle of July on my western trip.
