A locomotive I used to see regularly, so I bough a model
Class 47 47583 'County of Hertfordshire'.

It definitely looks better...i would just square away that roof still, it looks it's not completely on the cab. Also, i'd put some dark rust on the roof to hide that shine.

Must be the lighting, the roof is dull in person and has black soot.

A very dirty NS 8773 (a 9-40c) leads WRVT 9010 (a Sd40-2f) into PaperMill Yard (PMY) located in Central Wisconsin. They are running light from dropping their train off at the Mill about 2 miles south. The year is 2015 on the fictional Wisconsin River Valley and Terminal RR.

It's even better when you're there. Cascade Tunnel is almost 8 miles in length and westbound traffic has speed restriction because the tunnel is arrow straight and heading down hill. It takes 20 minutes from when you first see the headlight east, to get to western portal. One can stand at the west portal and just barely hear distant rumble for several minutes...not that i encourage such irresponsible behavior

You can see the distant lights on this one. One way to tell when a westbound has entered the tunnel is to watch the signal at Scenic to the west; the lights will go from double red, to red and orange and immediately to red and green.

Mac: My favorite place - well used to be, now a 400ish mile drive. Grade up to Berne does have a vertical curve at the top ( East Portal ). When the ventilation is off ( bore clear of smoke ) and the door is open, you can see daylight - 7.8 miles away. This is true for any outside weather condition. When a Westbound enters, it is like the sun rising. 20 minutes later you have a big thing in your face. I have seen the signal at East Scenic all the variations: red/red, red/yellow, yellow/red and green/red. no green going into the siding.

The new placard over the hole looks good. They also add mile posts to the bore sides; although I am not sure what 1290 represents.
Here is a pix of the old placard of which you can barely make out, you may recognize the pix.

And here is one that most people do not see. MRL going into the siding. Not sure what that 2nd power is; not the right color for UP and memory does not serve me here. Pix from circa 1990.

2nd out is one of the ex Susquehanna SD45s that MRL had. 359 had a big smiley face with the class light knockouts as eyes.
