Imagine there were dozens of these so called "Interurban" railroads across the United States a hundred years ago. They were basically lighter weight trains, falling somewhere between city trolleys and full scale rail equipment in weight. Some of the most well known and favorites of rail fans are Illinois Terminal around Chicago region and Sacramento Northern in California. They started to wither around WW II when more and more freight was diverted to trucks. Here is a typical looking Interurban electric coach:

This one used to run between Chicago and Milwaukee and it now resides at Iowa Traction Railway for special occasions.

Sorry, haven't contributed to these picture threads in a while. First one I could find quickly: northbound at Titlow, which shares its name with a beach, park, and lake on the west side of Tacoma.

This one is called "38, 39, 40." Two GP38-2s, a GP39E and a GP39-2 meet a coal train lead by an SD40-2.

Restored Great Northern F45 in "Big Sky Blue" paint scheme. This is the only locomotive restored in this paint scheme and you can sleep in it. It was converted into a hotel inside and is located in Essex, Montana, right in Glacier National Park.

Seen this in a video, it's a helper link used to disconnect from the rear of a train on the fly. Had to build one. In doing the research found a 3d printed one online.
