Not many are familiar with it, even fans in the Northeast, but back in 1951 Pennsylvania Railroad started experimenting with replacements for their P5a electric locomotives. While General Electric came out with rather simple AC design of Bo-Bo, Baldwin together with Westinghouse build awesome looking ignitron rectifiers. Although the "Sharknose" shape was not as pronounced, it can easily be seen in design:

Both designs came in pairs; two E2c and two even more exotic E3b. I'd like to tackle the 3 "B" truck version since it's a little more challenging (assuming i do all axles powered). Do to experimental nature of the locomotives, all four units had rather short lives, having been scrapped in 1965. They were very powerful, but the early rectifies with their complex cooling system made them unreliable in the long run. They did however point production of electric locomotives into rectifier types, where AC power from the wires is converted to DC for the motors to power the locomotives. Got my work cut out for me especially reshaping the nose.
