How do you loosen old flywheels to remove them from "2 ended" Athearn motor?

I usually just twist them against each other and one will break loose. Use pliers on the drive shaft to get the remaining one loose.

These flywheels were just a press fit, and the method that Ken mentions is the way to do it.
