Interesting treatment of the set track, it's quite effective. Try dry brushing some texture on the ties. I see you already did the brake hose drip lines.
I have old track I still use, I weather it as scenic detail and park non runners on it, waste not want not.
FYI you are doing the right thing you researched your on the learning curve and your brave enough to put yourself out there and accept comment, welcome to a great hobby
I recall many years ago a boiler-maker company was welding together a pressure vessel that was longer than the largest available plate steel. They welded two pieces of the larger plate and cut is off to meet spec. Except they cut it off too short! So, they added a piece and cut it off...and, again cut it off too short! Finally got it right on the third try. Found out through a company for which I worked which did a lot of contracting with them. Not sure what may have happened to the foreman...

That's right, my "modeling" back in the day was to pick up burned matches on the street and stick them in the ground next to scribbled "rails" and pretend that i'm building an electrified railroad. It takes decades to get to any level of actually building models.
FYI only... with DC, if you use power routing turnouts, unless you make special arrangements, the tracks that the points are set against aren't connected to the throttle. So it's a way to park trains that you're not using while you run the one that the points are set to.
I was going to label my turnouts too but I’ve been operating them for so long now I might not get to it. Lol
I guess if someone comes over to play it’ll mess them up tho.
Nice to have the panel drop down like that!
Getting away from doing some wiring to the track, I decided to work on some of the scenery on the right side of the layout.
Where they lay out meets the right side wall.
Still a lot more to do....a lot more detail... but anyways, at least I am getting something done. I'm very slow..... but I try to be as detailed as I can, much more work to do on this area.
And of course Bigfoot always has to watch over and make sure I do things the right way.....Great encouragement.....
I finished the basic scenery of the back right hand corner of my layout, where the caboose goes into the tunnel. I will add little details later bushes and such
Also trying to finish the waterfalls in the bridge that connects the two.
I did not want the bridge that overhangs the train track. But the way my table and platform were put together it was there, so I had to use it, this was the best way I knew how.
