ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Guys,

Our investor has wired funds to our account to start the drive injection mould tooling. I sent out the three side frames for quotation, there will still be some modification to make before production but we're trying to get the ball rolling quickly.

We have two moulds planned to tackle the side-frames and add on components.

The test samples for all of the machined components is in progress.

Attached here are test samples of the traction motor casings. This is rapid prototyped in clear plastic. We can use these to get a feel for the design. With tolerances so tight, we have to right into injection moulding.

Last week was our best yet since we started business in 2006. Please keep up the support, the hoods, fans and drive are fully funded but we still need the cash flow for loan payments, production and to fund the 4 detail orientated moulds we need to finish the first full wide cab kits.

We're going to use a second tool maker for the drive so they will be done the same time as the hoods. If all goes well, expect them sometime this spring.

All the best,

Christopher Howard

Guys,

Evan is about half way with the blomberg modifications for P87. Here is the center bolster section and ball joint interface with the traction motor.

We have the side-frames, heat sink, and gearing out for quotations so they can be started right away.

As usual everything costs an arm and a leg, please continue your sales support as we need every penny.

Thanks,

Guys,

We awarded the tooling contracts for the side-frames (Blomberg/HTC) on Friday and got these images from our supplier of some of the stamped items yesterday.

The initial Blomberg release will cover the B/M versions. Still trying to get data for the high speed kit if anybody has it.

We have triple clasp options for the HTC brakes. Both trucks will give you the option of Timken or Hyatt journals and logos.

If you compare the images from the CAD to the product samples, you'll see that these are really small!

Also, on Friday we wrapped up the final gear design and sent the files to the supplier, they have already ordered the supplies and expect to start tooling immediately.

Right now we're working with four new suppliers on this project to get it done ASAP.

Evan thinks he'll have both side-frames and the POM items finished this weekend, tooling will start ASAP on the side-frames and traction motor casings. The POM and add on components are the only two moulds left to finish design and send out for quotes.

The traction motors can be used to power your scratch-built trucks for the guys who want non-standard axle spacing.

All the best,
