I've been playing around with JMRI all morning. I really like the look and idea of the free iPhone wireless throttle. I even linked it to JMRI running on my PC.
I don't have a layout yet, but I'm planning one. JMRI imported my plan from XTrkCAD and supposedly I can run trains on my computer to simulate my trackplan.
Also - and here's my question - it looks as though you can simulate sounds with JMRI as if your loco's have sound decoders in them. It's meant for placing speakers under the layout for richer sound than what is possible with little 'N' size speakers.
For my small plan, this may be something I would like to try, but I just can't seem to get sound out of JMRI on my computer. I've assigned sounds to a virtual loco in my virtual roster, but no luck.
Have you tried this? I realize this could be difficult to explain here. Do you know of a link to help on this topic?
