I finally found the last short in my layout.
My conclusion:
First: the DB150 had an overheating problem and finally gave out
Second: I had a broken turnout point rail that was shorting out
Third: A dangling wire that become connected.

I was going over all the track connections one last time, with wire cutter in my hand, and I glanced over all the wires dangling...that's when I saw it: 2 wires that became entwined. Too bad I didn't notice it 40 cut wires ago...but then I never would have had so much fun troubleshooting.

I want to thank everyone for all their comments and I really appreciate the help. I will finally have some cheese with my whine

This concludes my discussion on shorts and I hope to NEVER have to address this again.
