I purchased a Stewart Hobbies FT diesel with a DH121 decoder in it. Put it on the programming track to see what the CV read. It is set at CV1 as 003. Put it on the track, the front light operates, but no movement either forward or reverse. Is there anyway to test the decoder? How can I check the CV values using the DT602 controller?
 
Check cv 19, and see if it's showing anything other than 0. If it is, set it to 0, and retest.
 


I'd put a volt meter on the wires to the motor and see if the decoder is sending power to the motor. Check at the decoder end and the motor end.
 
Tried doing a full reset still nothing happening. It runs fine when tested on DC track. Once it’s put on a DCC track nothing. I’m thinking the decoder is bad, and might just replace it.
 
Do you have JMRI?
Did you check to see if the brake is on.
I believe it is F9 and or F10

Not sure which VC it is.

I will say that is a old decoder is it a 8pin or is it hardwire. If it's hard wired you easiest replacement would be a SoundTraxx DCC Mobile Decoder MC2H104P9

I can't recommend Digitrax decoder any more. There are much better offering from NCE TCS Soundtraxx and ESU all at the same or withing 5 dollar.
 
DH121 is so ancient that it didn't have a reset CV. Very limited in capability. Strange that it would work on DC but not on DCC, though.

Could you take the shell off, and then take a clear, well-lighted pic of what the current install looks like?
