Most had a single cylinder gas motor and some were equipped with a turntable that dropped down to spin them around. Here’s a quick vid of a run we did…

This section of track was in sore need of completion, ballast, rust, and vegetation added over the weekend:

Where the tweezers are, there is no ballast all the way to the curve. I use that little bottle to dispense the ballast, works well and no mess to clean up

I got this area done at least around the curve. Also, did the rusty rail, added some vegetation.

This old Varney has been missing the front coupler, finally got around to it - Took a KD #5 and ground it down to fit the space

Got the detail part from ebay to add a little interest to the pilot

Got er done, only took about an hour

nice to get this detail completed.

ps - the headlight works, even after 64 years. Too bad they don't make em like that today.

I thought I should have little fire truck shed with truck on the layout, decided to start with this



lots of little plastic parts

In mid stride of painting and glueing, they recommended not painting a lot of the red. I ignored a lot of their recommendations on painting, wanted this to look like an old but in use vehicle

getting the wheels on is always one of the biggest challenges here. You can see several other paint projects in the works

There will be a little touch up work

.

This kit came with lots of details and was a challenge to assemble, however it will stay somewhere on the layout.

I have a bunch of these little buggers to build , you did a great job.

In conjunction with the new backdrop, I ripped out a section of the layout, looks like I have room for at least two new buildings and am moving the two

This is the before photo (above). These look really lonely

I took everything out and added this plywood. Wood is great to work with in this instance

I used up almost all my hydrocal. This is how I do it, just use the hydrocal, screen, and paper towels or newspaper, wetted down

Here I am staging the buildings. I can fit two more in there, the fire truck shed and something else, plus a road going off into the brown area. Will be trees and more ground cover.
