I have a temporarily permanent layout in my basement, been messing with it for about 2 years and it was originally a 48x120 and I added it to it a couple times and cut some of it out so now it's like a big rectangular donut shape. Where two pieces came together there was a construction defect and it created about a 1/2-3/4 gap. I had it shimmed with wood strips. Keep in mind, I'm moving in about 2 years so I have my layout able to be ripped out completely and can save most of the wood. I have also discovered that most of the issues I had when I was having turnout issues with older atlas turnouts was mostly because they were number 4s instead of 6s and that they were not completely flat( due to not gluing so can be removed later). I have everything nailed into cork or screwed(truscale large radius turns and straights) I decided I would pump some caulk under the area where there was the gap I stated above above and that took care of the flexing but looks crappy. I had a container of this adhesive grout with sand in it for some patching I did on my shower stall. This stuff is like the consistency of spackling but with sand. I used a putty knife and ran it right up to the track edge on both sides to cover the caulk. I know this is probably not the best application for this, but it looked like with the way I was able to get it right up to the rail it may work for like track in a roadway where there are no ties. Has anybody ever tried this? I may post a picture for laughs, because it's definitely not up to the caliber of what I see here on this forum. I just thought it is an interesting material and curious if anybody has ever used it.
