I have been controlling all turnouts using a DPDT switch from a single control panel and have that wiring down. But as the layout continues to evolve (expand) I would like to have a 2nd switch at the turnout location so I can control it as I walk around. Trouble is while I've seen examples on YouTube none give a wiring diagram to follow. Do I use a second DPDT switch? If so, how is it wired? Appreciate any help. -Wayne

In the January 2008 issue of "Model Railroader" there is an article by Rex Beistle on just this subject.

Plus, there is also an article in the July 2002 issue of "Model Railroader" by Allen B. Webb which shows a simpler wiring diagram.

Yes, a second DPDT switch is one way to do it. It would be wired just like a track reversing switch in series with the one in the control panel.
