Forgot: this is my Grandson's toy in Afghanistan.

Very Angry Toy.......I need to borrow that! ..........Lay me off, humfffff they do........
Chris, after you borrow it, I need to borrow it to take care of the person that lured me out here, lied to me, reneged on every promise he made, broke every term of my employment contract, and is now suing me.
I'm sure if revenge was legal, there would be a lot of smoking craters around the country...

I'm still in the process of getting my layout ready for PrimeTime, e.g., the next operating session. I keep finding all these @#$%^ cobwebs on my fragile structures, they're a real bear to clean off without breaking something. I'm also trying to figure out an economical way to install some throttle pockets around the layout, for when the operators need to shuffle their carcards/waybills or jot down instructions.

Belay that order!! Think FCSME dude!
We don't use, or can use any throttle pockets,,,,,,,remember,,,we gots cell phone studs on our throttles, just get some hangers!!:D

OK Karl, perhaps you could post a pic of your throttle showing where you installed the stud? I'm all 'ears' if that'll avoid unnecessary work...

I'm a cheapskate. I use strips of Velcro an inch and a half long. One on the back of the throttle and the matching piece on the layout fascia. I put a drop of super glue gel on the back of the Velcro before sticking it on. This keeps it from peeling off.

Chris! Shame on you for thinking you should go after your former employer with that! What you need is a self propelled 120 mm howitzer with laser sighting!

Jeff your right:eek:! What would I do If I missed and they ran? Being able to chase down the runners would be easier;):)

There's a good idea for a business, Smoking crater sales man!:D;) "Yes, folk's your boss can be turned into a smoking crater for one low price!":D:D:D:D:p

Chris - I don't quite understand the lingo of the 'points' or whatever you were talking about, but I hope a labor lawyer can help you out - without you having to pay anything up front.

Even the people that Created the points system don't even under stand it!:rolleyes: The Seniority system....Simple, Fast, and no confusion!:)

Evening All!

It was a lovely day here in Colorado. Just a hint of Fall in the air. Took my dawg for a walk this afternoon...just beautiful out.

Hope to get to the mountains this weekend to catch the Aspen.

Rex...a few years ago I had jury duty and it was like an episode of SNL. The DA caused an elderly juror to faint. And that was just the beginning..AGH!

Chris...hang in there. You'll find that your lawn business is going to go crazy and you'll be swamped. (Maybe 'swamped' is not the best term to use with a Floridian!)

Jeffrey...glad your foot is healing well!

Gotta run.

Have a great evening :)

Sandy

OK Ken,
Standard FCSME throttle hanger. I male end of a cell phone mount on the throttle, female end mounted to fascia. I use the adhesive mount, with a tiny screw set through the center. As always, open the case and check clearances before installing the screw. The club got a bulk purchase a few years back, you may want to check with Walt or Kieth and see if any are left.

HAH!!!:mad: that sounds like one of those manager things to keep their jobs---if no on but they can somewhat understand it ---they get to keep their jobs---the miserable little trngy87t5y87s4furqhtuhb:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Jeff Maybe a bigger bore will be better?:)

Good morning folks

It was 66 F and the clouds are gathering this morning. High will be 73 F with a chance of rain.

Last night was an on the road night. We took my daughter to her flute lesson and then to Sears to pick-up the new TV. I am amazed at how light the TV was. I think it was only 21 pounds. You can carry it with one hand. The old TV which was a 25 inch screen weighted at least 50 pounds and came in a huge box. This new TV which is 32 inch screen came in a box about the size of large suitcase. Once we got home it took me about 15 minutes to get the TV out of the box, the stand attached, the cable attached, and the TV programmed. Again a lot easier than the last time I had to set-up a new TV.

As result of the running I did not get trains in.

Tonight we have our Welcome Back Night for the Cub Scouts.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning

It is a cool 8C this morning with the ever popular mix of sun/cloud. And the high going to be a sizzling 20C!

Yesterday was funny. The weatherbeguessers changed the forecast twice after showers showed up and they still didn't get it right either time:eek::rolleyes:---there were a few gremlins out and about I guess:eek::rolleyes:

Today is more work and classes for this puppy. I'll be stuck with me nose in the books for a while here:eek::)

Have a good one

It's a balmy 61 here this morning here on the edge of the Mojave desert, with highs supposed to be around 95. Sunny with a chance of smog.

Good morning.

It's 72 with light fog. The high will be in the mid 80's and you guessed it, there's a chance of rain.

Yesterday I replaced the Kadee #5 couplers on 2 tank cars and 2 covered hoppers with Kadee #119 shelf couplers. The couplers on the tank cars will be left as is but the couplers on the covered hoppers will have the top shelf trimmed off so they'll the proper type lower shelf couplers we so often see on hoppers. The report from the foot doc yesterday was good. The wound on the bottom of my right foot is starting to fill in and the stitched up incision in the side is healing well. The wound on the bottom of my left big toe is closing up some also. I go back Monday to get my stitches out. I went by the pharmacy to see if they had the final item on my list of 6 meds done. They did so I picked it up. A whopping $1 co-pay. Like that's gonna break the bank. Since Medicaid cut my number of prescriptions a month from 8 to 5 the process of getting meds has spawned more bugs than a bait shop. I have enough #119 couplers to convert 2 more covered hoppers today. I'll have to order more couplers at the end of the month. I still have 13 covered hoppers and 5 tank cars to convert. One project that's been on the back burner for a number of months is swapping out the body shell of one of my Atlas GP40's with a Bachmann GP40 body shell. I still have to pre-drill the holes in the shell for the wires that join the trucks of the two Atlas locos together.

Phillip- VERY nice looking bike and the size seems about right for comfortable riding on long trips.

I have started looking at crusiers of the 1500cc range. They sure are much nicer than the old 1978 HONDA CX500 I last rode.

My wife has 3 conditions: a new helmet, a high back rest on the passenger seat and that I sell the Vette.
Guess I'll have to start cleaning up the Vette this weekend.
The LHS (45 miles away) is having a sidewalk sale this weekend, selling tables to people to display and sell their excess train "stuff". Maybe it will be a good excuse to drive the Vette down there. (And limit the amount of things I could haul home!)

Everybody have a good hump day!!:)

Mikey, I don't know that I would sell the 'Vette. I have a 1960 FI Corvette, and would cut off my arm before I sold it.

And I have two bikes now and looking for a possible third and maybe a fourth(for the better half). Currently I have a Harley and a 1947 Indian. Neither is up for any debate to sell. If the better half gave me an ultimatum to sell any of the "toys", I'd help her pack. She surely wouldn't sell her custom 1993 T-Bird that we built a few years back.

She did once threaten to move me to the barn with the "toys", but then decided against it. Who would change the light bulbs, and help move furniture around? So, I guess I have found why she keeps me around. Besides, who would she test her new recipes on? Fix the antique furniture she buys?

Mikey, a good bet for you to look at in a bike would probably be a Honda Valkyrie Interstate. They only made them for a few years, but they have the comfort of a Goldwing (same chassis and running gear even) and a more classic look. It's big enough for cross country touring, comfortable, and for the type of bike it is, realatively affordable. I was seriously looking at them before I came across my Drifter. Here's a pic of one: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3234/3078574473_8f53b49020.jpg

I got two more covered hoppers converted to shelf couplers this morning then had a lunch of sausage and rice. Now, what to do for the afternoon.

Hi everyone! Yea! I am released from jury duty. This morning, I went into a court room for selection and during the process an objection was made to a question the DA used when polling the potential jurors. After 45 mins on very hard seats, the judge said they had to select from a new group and we were dismissed for the rest of the week. BTW: the defendant was also a lawyer. It was going to be a combination of charges over a month and about reckless endangerment with a boat, resisting arrest, and creating a public disturbance. I'm FREE!!!!!!!:):):) Oh, I made $30.75. $10/day, $0.05/mile :D

Chris: don't worry about moving the Toy. Being a 155mm, it would subtract a county from the state of Florida .
Here is a link to one being fired. Ken, this video makes one appreciate what you said about the ear plugs. LOL! http://www.olive-drab.com/idphoto/id_photos_m198howitzer.php

Jeff: I also use Velcro. It's easy to apply and if someone comes in with a throttle that doesn't have it, I can easily stick some on. (little hard to get off though :D )

Sandy: Wow, that is a beautiful Golden in the photo. Has the same coloring as our Archie. Envy you with the mountains, change of color, and drier air. Gads, the air is heavy now. A low that is almost sitting over Jeff is pumping up tropical air from the Gulf.

Philip: that Honda Valkrie is sweet. I would fit well with something like that. I would even grow some long sideburns so they would flop in the wind LOL:D.

Mikey: Are you NUTS! Sell the Vette, man that wouldn't be good for your afterlife.:D:D

Bob: love the post. You describe marriage in a way that can't help but make you laugh....even though its true .;):D

BTW, they look good in color too!
