Congrats Karl, on the RMC article...knowing that makes your chest swell a bit.
Let's see now, hmmm, we should all be up to a dozen donuts and a jug of coffee. Don't mind the large amount on my check...gratuity you know! Hi ya FLO, love the new shorter dress, Yummy!:D

Well, since I can't do any work today, maybe I can think about it and plan for tomorrow.

Hi Glenn! Nice to see ya'here. I know you are excited about getting that monster N scale layout set back up. That is one fine layout ;). Don't know about Carey, but I should be there around 6pm.

Hope all are having a nice one! CU Later

Chris, you keep eating all those donuts and the only work you will be doing is pulling your butt up outa that chair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D
I paid for a dozen donuts and coffees , thanks Chris, for the use of the card
:D

Not a problem, you stole the card I stole from Jim!:D

Afternoon, everyone.

My total work today has been church and putting in one crossing buck that got broken.. I don't think that counts as work. Finished the city hall and jail enough to post a few pics. It's been a slow week on the layout.

Congats on the article, Karl. I've seen the finished pics of those slugs and they seem like they deserve an article.

Bob, that sounds like a great haul from the garden. Just too hot for most of those plants to do well here. Even my fruit trees look kind of peaked.

Looks like an interesting 24 hours ahead for us. Tropical Storm Claudette developed from just a small disturbance overnight to a full fledged TS this morning. It should come ashore later this evening near Pensacola Beach and then take dead aim at us in Alabama. We've got tropical storm wind watches up and Claudette already has 55 mph sustained with 65 mph gusts. I don't think she has enough time over watter to reach minimal hurricane strength but she's going to be a strong tropical storm. It's amazing how fast this one blew up. Anna is going to get destroyed over Haiti and Bob, although it shoulod reach hurricane strength by tomorrow andd at least tie Andrew's record for the latest Atlantic hurricane, should start to recurve north one it gets near the Virgin Islands and then become a fish storm after that. We're lucky that Claudette didn't form down by the Keys or we would be in big trouble.

Chris, you may not have noticed, but I changed that card over into your name. Wait until you see the bill.

Still feeling much better so I hope this bout with illness is about over. In honor of No Work Sunday, I'm going to take a nap. :D

Afternoon, everyone.

:D

LOL's Jim, CC Company can't find me My Tent that i live out of doesn't have an Address!:D So how's the bill going to find me:confused::D;)!

The only work I had today, if you can call it work, was to iron my backdrop scenes flat. Took all of 5 minutes in my mother's steam press. I could'a done it in my sleep.

The backdrop along the long wall and over to the AC unit is down. It's gone. The fun is going to be getting the one on the other wall down. I may just leave it there and put the new one up over it.

Wait a minute, that sounds like work to me. Coffee and Krispy Kreme on Jeffrey in the morning. :)

Chris, I told the CC company to deliver it to any guy they see cutting grass in a park. I figure they'll eventually nail you. :D

Did nothing but take a nap, go to church for evening bible class, and think about how to set up my country church scene. You can't get me for thinking. ;) Claudette is about to come ashore near Panama City, Florida. It's not looking quite as impressive and the rain seems to be having a hard time moving inland. We've only had one band of rain with a total of .16 on showers. Still lots of wind associated with the TS and I expect we may not get as much rain but 50-55 mph winds by about 0600. The barometer is hardly falling but we are still getting steady 20 mph winds with gusts of 27, which indicates the slow speed of the storm. Ones like this are tough to predict once they get over land. May turn out to be a bust or a real windy rain maker. I'll know for sure in about 10 hours.

Wasn't any work to it. The screws had already been removed so all I had to do was grab it and lift it off the layout. Still managed to derail dang near everything.

Good morning.

It's 75 and clear. The high will be in the low 90's and there's a chance of rain.

Last night I got the bulk of the old backdrop down. I tried being careful with it but you know how it is with bulky things like that. I didn't damage any structures but I still managed to derail just about everything. The twin SDP40F's are still on the track though. It would take a pretty good punch to knock those heavy beasts over. That's somewhat over 4 pounds of dead weight between them. The task this morning will be to get the backdrop broken down and packed out to the trash. Later this morning I have to go down to the parent's place and order a new inspection cover gasket for the pool pump. The old one is still good but it's getting progressively more difficult to lock the lid down so it has an airtight seal. Also have to see about mowing my sister's yard. She said she was going to get the gas for it yesterday.

Good morning-

Got that ol' T'underboomer early this morning--now the forecast reads a 40% chance of showers and those T'storms for today and tonight. High will be 32C and tonight's low will be 19C. Tomorrow will be rainy and sticky at 28C for a high.

Our spring fed pond/lake with attached river system got all charged up last night from a random thunderstorm that monsooned on us ---now I'll go and do some erosion control---

Got some things on a random To do list before I stuff myself into the trainroom and get started on a couple of ATLAS Kate's Colonials I picked up at a LHS on our trip Saturday------:):)

Have a good one--

Good morning folks

It was a sticky 72 F as I headed out onto the highways this morning. Our high today will be 94 F as we have the three H’s; hazy, hot, and humid. We will be like this through at least Thursday when some relief may come in the form of some showers.

It was a slow weekend since my wife worked both days. I did a bunch of small chores and did some prep work for replacing the kitchen sink faucet. I found the type of connectors I need but the hardware store was out of the size I need. I will be searching for them this week.

The kid worked on turning the attic back into a playroom/study. It used to be one until it got filled with their old toys and things. They went through the stuff and on Saturday they had a yard sale. They made about $100. They used their profits to buy a couple of things they wanted for the attic.

No modeling as I still need to get to the LHS and get decal solution so I can get the cars that need renumbering off the workbench.

Congratulations Bob on being a grandpa and Karl on the article.

I hope everybody ha s a good day.

Went down to the parent's place to order the gasket for the pool pump. Neither of my parents were around and there was no credit card info to give to the ordering clerk at Hayward and no way am I using my credit card to buy parts for their pump. Also went to my sisters place to see about mowing the grass. Well, she didn't get the gas so I'm not cutting the grass.

Morning, everyone.

Jeffrey, sounds like your day has been a complete waste of time so far. Getting that old back drop down and derailing everything still sounds like work to me so you're buying. :) I'll have a large decaf and two of those creme filled ones over there, Flo. I'll be really interested to see how your new back drop looks.

Sure, BOC, you live up in the frozen north and keep getting all this rain and thunderstorms with your own lake and river and all. I'm now 85 miles for the center of the former Tropical Storm (now Depression) Claudette and I've had exactly...0.00 inches of rain. There's one little skinny line of thunderstorms in Georgia and some light showers south of us. Our high wind gust was 23 mph overnight. Not only that, but the barometer is rising like a rocket as this remnant low gets closer. Yep, my official rating for Caludette is - BUST. The hilarious thing to me is the "scientists" who claim they understand the entire world climate and how it operates and can't explain how or why Claudette was born, lived, and is now dying in just 36 hours. When the NWS can give an accurate idea of what's going to happen with a storm on their doorstep, I'll get excited about they think might happen 50 years from now.

Tom, me and my brother slept in the attic for two years until my dad finally was able to afford a house with enough bedrooms for six kids. This was during the summers of '57 and '58, two of the hottest summers on record. I thought I was going to die. The only thing I use our attic for is storing Christams decorations and I don't even like going up there for that. :)

I'm still feeling better and stronger each day. It's interesting how God teaches you lessons. How many of us think much of going to take a leak? Well, try not being able to take one for two days and your whole perspective on what's important in life changes. We worry a lot about things which mean nothing and take for granted things which mean a lot. I'll try to remember that in the future when I get worked up about a bad glue seam or something earthshaking like that. :D

Whoops, just had a 12 mph gust...no, 13 mph. Time to go out and double check the patio awnings.

There's a little excitement in the weather today. A little condition called tropical funnels clouds. Now these aren't especially dangerous unless they trigger tornadoes. A tropical funnel cloud on it's own can do minor damage should it reach the ground.

I got 9 more pieces of poster board up for a total of 12 pieces thus far. Now I'm gonna rest for a while. When next I work on it I'll be working on the east side of the layout (been working on the west and north sides) where it's a little smoother going. After all the poster board is up I'll go back and put some glue into the seams.

well, weather is being just weathery, its hot, then it pours, then its nice, now it looks going to sh...t again. oh well

haven't touched the layout since last Tuesday. we went on our anniversary last Wednesday night and the rest of the time i was busy being sick to the point i could barley get up. parents thought it was the swine. our friend who is a doctor said if that would be the case i wouldn't get off that easy and it probably was just a ussual stomach flue +1. somehow i feel good enough to not skip work today...
not fun. stay healthy.

This can give you an idea of my progress on the new backdrop so far.

Hey All...

Jim...so glad that you are feeling much better. Acute pain can sure make us reflect on how we whine about little things! Hope this never happens again!

Bob...I miss my garden. Always had one when I was growing up but just don't seem to have time anymore. Homegrown tomatoes are the best! I love fresh fruit but have never like cooked fruit. Don't care for fruit pies or canned fruit. A friend went to WA recently and while there she canned a bunch of cherries. I took care of their place while they were gone so she brought me some of the cherries. Have no idea what I am going to do with them. Ew! Guess I'll find someone who does like them and will pass them on. Seems like everyone around here loves strawberry/rhubarb pie. Can you imagine???

I am always amazed when I see photos of the train...things you all do. So much detail. Pretty cool, actually. Right now I am marketing our Model Cars Magazine and I am amazed at the time and effort those folks put in on model cars. Wow!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!
Sandy
