Chris...Sweet! You have someone going to bat for you (no pun intended!)
That is excellent. At least he is presenting your name in a very positive light to the decision makers. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
BTW...how is your wife doing? Is she pretty much back to...good, since her surgery?

Ya, it's good the league prez is going to press the flesh! but the county is $30 million in the hole..........Sept. 10th and 11th wwill reveal all:o My Wife is back to her young self!:)

Good Morning

We're going to have another 60% chance of showers and those t'underin'boomers today. Had a surprise monsoon show up early this morning an give us some more rain for the lake---I've got marsh grass growing HUGE here:eek: We'll also get a lot of wind and a high of 28C with about 80% humidity ---just lovely around here:eek::rolleyes:

Got a few more days to finish the report off. I present the paper on Thursday, clean up unfinished stuff Friday then I'll be off until after Labour Day!:p:p:D

Have a good one people---be safe out there:):):)

Rex, I'll have to check out the QSI's. Going to Kokomo tomorrow. I might pay a visit to the Train Exchange while I'm there. Never been there. I hope I can find it.

I might just pick up a few more decoders for the new engines while I'm there.

Need some more Kadee #5's, #58's, and some #41's. And some more screws for some of the cars' coupler boxes. They may even have an engine(or two) that I'm looking for, ya never know.

Bob

No, Chris.

All hell can't break loose until after the 22nd. I want to get my birthday in too! LOL

I should even be setting my layout back up. It has been stored for over a year and I WANT TO PLAY TRAINS for my birthday. The new train room should be done by the 15th so I should make it.

Glenn

Good morning.

It's 73 and there's a light fog. The high will be around the mid 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

Had a close call yesterday. I went to town to do some grocery shopping. As I approached a somewhat dangerous intersection at the south end of town near Wal-Mart the traffic light went to yellow, so I slowed to stop. Behind me I hear a loud racket and look in the mirror to see a fully loaded (probably over-loaded) log truck barreling toward me with the brakes locked. I can see there's no way it's going to stop in time so I punched the gas and threaded the needle between two cars crossing the intersection at the same time that the truck brushes my bumper. That's one time that I was more than happy to run a red light. Hopefully today will be less eventful.

Wow, Glenn! Good to see you are still around.

"I should even be setting my layout back up. It has been stored for over a year and I WANT TO PLAY TRAINS for my birthday. The new train room should be done by the 15th so I should make it."

I know how you feel...its a shame you cannot get it up today, my birthday. I wish I could be there you get those trains running again.

I forgot until I got the email from the forum. Thanks everyone!!!

Good morning folks.

Since it's my day off I thought I would stop in for a cup of coffee. Today I should have plenty of time to continue the building of my freight house. It's the Walthers water street freight terminal. It should turn out looking quite nice.

I've found that I'm spending a lot more time building models this summer than last winter. Maybe it's because I'm not stumped on every single step like the trestle section. I think it also has to do with a childhood memory of mine. In the end of summer after playing baseball, I would sit in my basement bedroom and build models while listening to a Twins game. This year I have really enjoyed myself while building models and listening to the game. Though the Twins aren't doing so well right now, it's still very relaxing. Who knows, I may just be reliving my childhood again around trains. I guess that's enough deep thoughts by Jack Handy!

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm still drinking large amounts of coffee while thinking about what to do!

Happy Birthday Mikey!

HI Glenn! Hope all is well with you.

Bob: Make sure the QSI's you look into, are the upgrade version. I think most are now ;).

Sandy, don't come through Tuscaloosa any time soon. All the rain that BOC sent down here is now evaporating back up into the sky :D. Jezze, its humid!

Sandy and Rex- thanks for the well wishes.

One of the ladies at work made the comment that if I keep having birthdays, I can retire one of these days. My buddy piped up, "If the political situation doesn't change soon, none of us will be able to retire until three days after we die."
There may be some truth in that statement.

Chris, you can toast my health with a cold one after you get the grass cut!

Y'all have a good day and enjoy the rest of my birthday with me.:)

Rex...thanks for the 'heads up' ;) There are so many reasons why I live in Colorado and a big one is NO HUMIDITY!! Or very little humidity. I never did get used to it when I lived in NC. CAN you ever get used to it?? :o

Any word from Jim?

Sandy I sent Jim an email and waiting for the reply.
Well...we try to ignore the humidity; usually unsuccessfully :D . Before A/C was in everything, we never thought too much about it. When my daughter and hubby lived in Denver, she constantly complained about dry skin from the small amount of humidity. She should be happy now, living in the Houston area. I understand it is the second most humid area in the nation.

Hey guys, did ya miss me???:D

Been pretty darn busy in my neck of the woods lately. Been doing a lot of studying for my motorcycle instructor course and work has been keeping me hopping also. Just plain old to tired to get to the computer lately:)

Bob; Sorry to hear about your friend, it always sucks to lose a good friend. Lost my best friend when we were in our twenties, been missing him ever since. Hope all goes as well as can be with the funeral and such.

Phillip; Working on the bike is always a good time (at least in my opinion) especially doing little upgrades and performance enhancements! Have you been riding since the new clutch? How is she running?

Rex; What's this grab bag thing you are braggin about? Sounds like something interesting to check out...:D

Well in my MRR world, I have been driving myself crazy with two things, one is trying to design a layout to start on this fall. With all the room I will have in the basement I figure I can use a fair amount of it for a nice layout. I think I am just a little too new to this stuff to be able to come up with something good. Every thing I try starts to look goofy to me, can't figure on just how to come up with something fun and expandable. I'll keep trying though as time allows. The other thing driving me crazy is I just can not decide between an NCE or Digitrax DCC system. I am learning towards thw NCE but the fact that it will not run a loco without a decoder seems to keep me from pulling the trigger. I can afford a couple of decoders, and probably enough to get me running a few nice trains, but it would be nice to be able to run some that I can put decoders in yet. The thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger on the Digitrax is the fact that the software in not upgradeable by the user, it must be sent back to Digitrax if there is an upgrade and you would like to have it. NCE will allow the user to do any upgrades that may come up.

I probably should just pull the trigger on one other the other and just enjoy what I end up with, but again, I think I am just too new to know what I really want:confused:

BTW, I am not trying to start one of those DCC wars with opinions and such, I was just venting I guess. But pm's with opinions will be read and considered:D

Well, that's enough from me, I need to poke around the board awhile and see what I've been missing...Talk to you guys later...:D

You're kidding, right? Surely you jest! I couldn't wash my hands fast enough and take a midnight ride! I'll tell ya what, if you're banging through the gears at full throttle, you'd best hang on tight! She'll throw ya right off!

Tim, the son, is insistent that I take his Dad's trains. Still, I think he should take his time in this matter. Tom had some pretty nice stuff, including four OMI PRR H50/60 Centipedes, and other brass locos. I'd be proud to have it and would surely put it to use, but, I think Tim needs to grieve a bit before making such decisions. But, Tim wants to get things done quickly, just like his Dad in that behavior. And the family does live a distance away and the job of the estate will be somewhat of a burden from a distance.

Bob
Bob, if the son insists, you can go over and pack up the trains, and bring them to your house. Leave them in the boxes for a while, then, after a couple of months (or the next time you see the son), maybe you can broach the subject. If the son still wants you to have them, great. If not, they're still packed up, and you can just give him the boxes.

All my advice is worth at least what you pay for it...:)
