Good evening---

Spent the day dodging rain showers and t'storms---we have had a high of 18C all day--kinda breezy and cool---

Got some interesting shots today---see some of them in my PB as well as a few here

Jim I got 2 for a total of $20--not bad considering--the thing is that to build up a small village street they are pretty good---mind, I redid some with some bashing so they are not quite the colonials now!! LOL!:)

I woke up this morning to my daughter calling on the phone. I picked it up from a dead sleep and she's crying her eyes out saying that she wrecked tthe car. She said she's only a little hurt but the people in the other two cars are on their way to the hospital. They walked to the ambilance though, so thats good. She said one of the other cars ran a red light. The car was totaled. I told her I'd be there in a few minutes and the wife and I were out the door. 20 minutes later the cop is telling me that some people say that my daughter ran a red, others are saying that one of the other drivers ran the red, but the third driver was just sitting waiting to turn left and just got nailed by the car my daughter collided with. We took Autumn to the hospital and got her leg treated, then picked up some perscriptions and headed home. In all the whole process took about 8 hours. Autumn can't walk now because her ankle is very swollen. It isn't broken, but it ain't pretty. It's very painful. She's on two Vicodin and sh'e still feeling it. We'll be keeping a close eye on her the next couple of days. And the car........it's toast! I'll post pics tomorrow.

Hiya....How do I add pictures to a forum message? I have done it before, but just cannot get it to work

I got to the additional options box under my posting and clicked the Manage Attachments button, then I clicked the one that I needed ---in my case from the "Upload Files from my Computer"---and then I selected my pix from the 'pooter and then clicked "Upload":)

I've yet to try the URL thing though:eek::rolleyes:

Hope this works for you:)

Phil YIKES!!! Hope she'll sleep tonight! That is not good--we'll keep her and your family in our prayers

Went out by my church this afternoon and took some sunflower photos. It was a beautiful day and the sky was incredible~

Philip...That is most definitely one of those calls you dread getting. I am sorry she is in pain, but I am so glad that she is going to be okay. Will add her to my prayer list right away.

This is the last one....really :) "America the Beautiful" was written on Pikes Peak. You can certainly see why.

Everyone here seems to be doing OK. The funeral is Tuesday at 1:00PM and I have a feeling that is when my FIL, Wife and daughters will start to really feel the loss. I will support my wife and FIL and my son in-laws will support my daughters a good support network is very important. It will not be a fun time but I know it is part of the mourning process that must be gone thru to survive. Again I want to thank all of your for you support and prayers especially those that are close and have offered to come over with personal assistance if needed.
Phillip I am also glad your daughter is OK. I remember when my oldest scraped a fender on one of her friends mailboxes. She came home expecting me to blow up and chew her out and all I did was take the bathroom plunger out stuck it to the side of the car and pulled most of the dent out and never complained or said a word to her about it but to be more careful next time. She told her mom later that she has never seen me that calm after any of her other episodes, none of which amounted to nearly as much as this one.

Phillip, just went through the same thing two weeks ago with our oldest. In her case, it was here fault. Sounds like no one was seriously hurt, which is a blessing. It's hard to think of legal things at times like this but it sounds like there is substantial question as to who is at fault. The best advice I can give you (and her) is not to make any statements to the police beyond what she's already said. She's not required to tell them anything and they will use anything she says against her in court. The only person she should be talking to is your insurance agent or their claims agent. Whatever she does, don't even talk to anyone from the other party's insurance company no matter how nice they sound. We are being sued by the other party in our accident even though she had no obvious injuries and never went to the hospital. If the other parties in this case went to the hospital, you can be almost sure a lawsuit is around the corner. The police will write up their report with their observations and conclusions and your insurance company can fight it out with the other insurance companies. Sad world but you have to take precautions so you're not getting in neck deep saying things you later regret. :(

BOC, if I could find the Kate's Colonials at $10 each, I'd snap them up, but I haven't seen that kind of deal anywhere. You must have been at a train show again, you rat! :) Nice pictures of a typical overcast summer day in Ontario. Is the ship in that last picture still in service? It looks like she's been sitting at the dock a long time.

Sandy, very pretty pictures of those Prarie Sunflowers. Great time for birding out there too. Those views from Pikes Peak makes me homesick for mountains again. Nice shots all.

Spend most of the afternoon trying to get the gravel road to the country church looking good. I also added some puddles using Modge-Poge. We'll see how it looks in the morning when it's dry.

It's 69 degrees with almost no humidity tonight, the coolest evening we've had in a month. It's still Alabama in August so we'll heat right back up by Monday but I'll enjoy this nice, pleasant weather for as long as it lasts.

Canada Steamship Lines still shows her in active service as of earlier this year. She was refitted with a new self-unloading system, and had her hull widened in 2001. Her regular cargo is concrete products.

Good morning.

It's 70 and clear. The high today will be around 90 and it'll be partly cloudy.

We got the new belt for the mower late yesterday. Now we'll see if my nephew can be trusted to put it on. I'd like to get my sister's yard finished before Tuesday. After all, there's still my parent's yard to do. On the layout front, I'm still working on some foreground scenes (paper cutouts) to be placed against the background so it looks as if there's going on across the tracks. One scene I'm working on on this side of the tracks involves road work. A disused RR crossing in Sundown has been closed and the road going to it is be removed. A road crew is starting on it with picks, shovels and a jack hammer. Four prisoners have been detailed to help and a state police cruiser is nearby. After the road is taken up the area will be reworked to serve as a freight loading/unloading area on the adjacent spur.

Today's Weather for:

Jim This is true still of her--Goderich ON, BTW, is still an active port as well. The ship that we got had her sistership at the loading dock in the distance---we just didn't quite get down to the harbour itself. The photos that I took were taken from a couple of small--and we do mean small!--viewing parks at the top of the bluffs. We spent a bit more time at a local Tim Horton's trying to find some more places to go to before we turned into pumpkins!!:D:D

---------------------------------------

The weather here calls for more of the same dull skies with the 60% chance of showers and those t'underin'boomers. We will get to 22C and will go to a low of 11C tonight. Hey, but that's OK--we'll be at 31C on Tuesday!!:eek::D:D

Good morning folks.

Boy, some of you have had a bumpy road this year!

Larry, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy.

Philip, that has to be a jarring phone call to receive. I hope everything works out for you and your daughter.

Jim, it sure sounds like you are back in the saddle again as far as working on your layout.

As for weather around here, it doesn't get much better. We've had highs in the mid seventies to low eighties. Lows in the upper fifties. It feels a lot like September weather which is my absolute favorite of the year.

We are off to bet on the ponys this afternoon. Two years ago we went to the horse track for father's day with my father in law. We had such a good time that we went this year as well. I guess my wife enjoyed it so much that she wants to go for her birthday, which was yesterday. I have to say, it's kind of exciting. We don't gamble, so this is new for us. We bet the minimum on each race. To minimize the losses, we bet a favorite to show. It's more fun for us to not lose any money than to try and win big. With free admission and free parking, it costs us maybe thirty bucks for the whole day. That's including a frosty beverage for me and a coke for the wife. Hour for hour it's cheaper than going to the movies.

My layout is filling in slowly. I'm building each building to a certain level, then moving to the next. I hope to have all of the kits I own assembled and painted before it gets cold outside. I will go back to add the weathering and details when it's too cold to spray paint outside. Then I'll have to accumulate more kits to fill in the rest of my town. That should be just in time for Christmas.

I'm about to finish my cup of coffee and get ready for our day of fun.
I hope you all are well.:)

Corey, one of my fondest childhood memories of my mom taking me to the track in Califorina........She'd bet on the horse in the morning.....then bet weather or not dads going to scream bloody murder when he got home from work!LOL's I haven't been to the tracks since I was 8!

Only thing I've done intresting with my FIL was work on his shrimp boat!....Man got stories to go with that!

Chris Dolphins don't feed in a seagrass area?:confused:

BTW--nice catch in these pix :D:)

NOPE! In fact they will feed any where they can get there bodies! This guy is doing something they normal never do! everyone at the beach bar were watch this dolphins antics for about a hour before he swam off!

Chris, were you lieutenant Dan or Forest? " I was a shrimpin' boat captain"!:D

My wife doesn't drink, smoke, or have many other vices. I'm surprised she condones the betting. She use to love horses when I first met her. I think it's a combination of the horses, being outside, and the competition. We're almost betting against each other as much as the house. We never pick the same horse, it's against our rules! It's sort of good clean fun!:D;)

Chris...I love the boat picture. Great shot! Looks very peaceful. I have no idea what is unusual about the dolphin photo...

BOC...thanks for the info on posting photos...it worked! ;)

Philip...How is your daughter this AM? I am sure she is going to be sore :o
Hope fully you can wade through al the legal mess with few problems.

Jim...when I lived in NC. I missed the Rockies, too. Every time I came home, we'd hafta head up the hills so I could get a "fix"! I'll be heading back in a few weeks to catch the elk bugling and the aspen changing.

Have a great Sunday!

Sandy

OK, here's the pics of the car.........she's turned her last wheel under her own power, thats for sure.

Last night was rough. The pain meds just weren't cutting it as they upset her stomach, even with food in her. She's resting now though, so thats good.

Looks like I'll be driving the cage (our van) most of the week for a while so she can get to school......oh well.

Also, I do expect a lawsuit to be forthcoming. Maybe we can return the favor?
