I’ve decided to start modeling the Carolina & Nortwestern. I have the decals and a Atlas/Kato HO Alco RS-11 I bought on ebay coming in the mail. My plan is to strip the original paint and repaint the hull in the green, gold and imitation aluminum scheme. My question is which acrylic model paint color should I use for the green? Hoping someone out in there can steer me right.

Another related question; in the pictures I’ve seen of the locomotive, the ’imitation aluminum‘ stripe along the base looks white and nothing like the model paints of the same color. Optical illusion?

Southern Sylvan Green, sometimes just called Southern Green.
either by Model Flex, Tru-Color, or Floquil (if you can find it)

Yes, that is basically a "Southern" paint scheme. C&N must have been a sub-subsidiary or they purchased it 2nd hand. So any info on Southern diesels would work. BUT I don't think this is "Southern" green. I think it is a paint scheme they call "Tuxedo" which is black and white. Might try to find a Southern Railroad historical society to help get the right paint.

There is a picture of a MODEL on this site below of the C&W #11 in the green scheme. Although the text clearly states they were painted black in 1958 ?!?? In my opinion, faded or not, there is no mistaking the green over the black. Maybe it had both schemes through its life.
