My truck is the identical twin to Chris'. The 5.3 was not even an option for a 2500 in the year we have. I just got back from a trip to Charlotte, and the truck got 15.4 mpg at 75 mph and the air conditioning on. I got mine for the sole purpose of towing our travel trailer through the mountains. It does that and still gets 12+.

I got 250k on mine, dang thing runs great! Just to your fluid changes on time.... I get 16mpg. not towing any thing about 10-12 pulling the trailer with lawn equipment. I like the 6.0l good engine! Matt your dads truck is 7k# with a 5.3 and 4x4....Terry's and mine are 4x2, 5k# with a 6.0l. The power to weight ratio is the diffrence in fuel. My old boss had a 4 door GMC 1500 z71, he got bad gas milage. His Truck could pass any thing but a gas station...... All I know, I want a second truck like mine just red and standard trans.!:)

Hey Guy's, I got a date for tonight!:eek::eek:
We have been talking on the phone and e-mailing back and fourth, she seem real nice, her pictures are sweet, and she's cool too! She has a bigger GUN collection than most of you! So I better mind my manors to night!:);)

So 6pm for dinner/watch the sunset type-o-thing!;) My first date in over four months, man this is exciting fer me! I got to go pick her up @ 5pm! She lives five minutes from my old park, how small is the world huh?

I let you guy's know later or hopefully tomarrow how it all went!!!!!!!;)

Life seems to not sux as much today:o:)!

I be here!

Wasn't feeling too sociable yesterday. I had taken a nasty fall after slipping on some sweet gum balls at the side of the ditch. For about 30 seconds all I could do was lay there and tingle all over. When I could move I made sure nothing seemed broken. The rest of the day I had pain shooting from my neck down to my knees. Needless to say I called it a day early. Felt much better this morning. Got a couple of things done then went to lunch with my sister at the local steak house and sports bar. Saw the 1st quarter of the Saints-Falcon game while there. From there went to Wal-Mart for some odds and ends. Just hot back home a little while ago.

:)Hi gang! The wife and I got back today from our camping trip. I finally saw rain again after about six weeks....all the way home it poured so bad you could barely see the road.

Had a very good time, but the temps were terrible. There were several days around and over 100 and it wasn't until Friday that it got under 95...it was 94:rolleyes:. The camp ground was not too crowded until Thursday evening. Everyone had gone down there thinking the temperatures would be Fall-like, wrong! Anyhow, a front has moved in for this coming week and we should be having low 80's daytime and low 60's for the nights (figures, don't it!)

You guys talking about trucks and mileage: My F150XLS, 5.4L, Super Cab, 2-wheel drive, gets about 17 for my regular driving and 10-11 when I pull the 7800lb camper. Has plenty of power for the job, but sure likes to eat while doing it :D

Terry and Jeffrey: Didn't I see you two hanging around the Post Office? :D

Chris: my thoughts are with you, man! I sure hope you can get that job and your date sounds like a big step forward;):).

Good luck Barry!

Good morning folks

It was 64 F and raining occasionally on the way in this morning. Our high will be 74 F with much needed rain.

This was one of those few not too busy weekends. My son did not go camping because of his broken finger. My wife had to work Saturday morning. We hung around the house and did a few items from the old to-do list. Sunday we visited the North Museum of Natural History and Science in Lancaster. We finished off the day with a big dinner at smorgasbord restaurant on the way home.

I didn’t get any train time. Some will be coming shortly, however.

My daughter has a volleyball game today. This will be their third without a practice. Friday’s game was a disaster as they got slaughtered. I did not see the game because it started about an hour before its published time. According to my daughter the usual suspects were playing for themselves and not the team. Two of them got benched but their replacements were not much better.

I hope everybody has a good day.

About pickups. they usually dont perform as good in the snow because there is not enought weight on the tractive wheels to dig into to snow and reach the street. It does not apply for the 4x4 one, as long has they have slim tires.

Yesterday was a great day : Operation day at the club, i took a few photos/video, going to edit them and post them in a few days. I took my UP FEF-3 for a tour, and like the real thing I had a bunch of railfans following it :)

I won't be on long. Even though I got some rest my body is still kicking my butt. I'm tired and my eye sight is fried. Everything on the screen is a fuzzy blur yet 4 feet and further away is clear. Been trying to do too much reading and I'm paying the price. I just have to wait for it to clear.

Good morning folks

It was 72 F and very humid from the overnight rain. Our high will be 77 F with more rain on the way and possible thunderstorms.

Not much to report. My daughter’s volleyball team looked horrible as they lost again. Since one girl has returned from an injury the team chemistry is off. The girl is a train wreck on the court. She is constantly out of position and gets in everyone way. Then there are the ball hogs. In the second game one girl was responsible for 8 out 9 points for the other team. It was just downright ugly.

My son had his Boy Scout troop meeting last night.

No trains last night.

This afternoon we have a contractor visiting to give us an estimate on the hail damage from the June storm. We have damaged shingles, flashing, downspouts, gutters, and the garage door. A lot of the damage I did not see until it was pointed out to me. Some areas look like a crazed kid took a hammer to our house. Afterwards we will be contacting the home owners. In our block 8 houses have damage. In the neighborhood it has to over 50 houses. Our neighborhood is filled with sounds of roofing and siding repair.

Today is my 19th wedding anniversary. We don’t have anything special planned. Life has been too busy this year. We decided to wait until sometime next month to celebrate.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Hiya Gang!

Well, believe it or not, the 3 Atlas engines I just got are going back to Atlas. Amp draw is way outta line, and after phone calls Thursday, Friday and yesterday, it seems they believe me. When 3 engines overload a 5 amp DCC system on speed step 8, something aint right! Even on regular DC they can barely muster any speed! What really sucks is that they were ordered October 15 of last year, I didn't get them til August 28 of this year, (right in the middle of moving) and finally got to play with them last weekend, when I discovered the problem!

So here's to wishing for a speedy turn around, wishing Tom a happy anniversary, wishing Jeffrey feels better (or gets longer arms!) and finally, wishing I had a pnumatic poo cannon pointed at Floriduh!:D

OK gang, Summers over (even here:D)! It's time to come in from the outside playground and get back to some serious MR and Coffee Shop business.......well, maybe not serious but at least more active;):).

I finally got the travel trailer unpacked and have fired up the layout. Need to do a pre-OP inspection for a small session tomorrow. Only about 4 operators including one fellow from Hagerstown, Md., that is visiting his brother.

Jeffrey, I sure hope you start feeling better.

Karl, that is the worst! My Atlas Gold SD's draw <0.5 each. They are my best runners and MU perfectly "as is" using RTC.

Tom, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Hope you and the boss lady have a grand evening planned.

CU Later!:)

I'm in a rare good mood today! My new GF is going to spend the weekend here...cause she lives so far away! Just easier and cheaper. She want's to meet my whole family or what's left of it, so we're having a pizza/movie party here. Needless to say good mood for now!:)
