Good afternoon from Coarsegold,
According to Wunderground Weather it's 93.9°F going for a high of 95°F with Humidity of 9%, no wonder it feels so comfortable, and going for a low tonight of 61°F, much nicer sleeping weather.
Well I got some response on the last minute pre-sale of the Broadway Limited SW 1500 Switchers so that was good to see. Looks like it quite a nice Loco with lots of DC/DCC features to it.
Say Jeffrey,
[OUOTE]According to USPS tracking my Dremel chuck should arrive today. I've been using the old one this morning. It only jammed up twice. But then I only changed bits twice too. Getting the bit out requires that I remove the chuck and insert a small screwdriver in the rear of it and push the bit out. Then I have to use the screwdriver to force the chucks teeth open. After twelve plus years it's just worn out. No other plans for today.
I did something this morning I'm rather proud of. I changed out two light bulbs in an overhead fixture on my own. There's an exercise machine close by. So I balanced on my one foot and hung onto the exercise machine with my left hand while I reached up and changed the light bulbs out with my right hand. That's an accomplishment in itself.[/QUOTE]
I'm not sure which chuck you ordered, I hope it was the variable one that allows you to just use finger tightening and will hold the tinniest of drill bits on up to the larger size Dremel mandrel shafts. It one heck of a time saver and no locking wrench required as with the old collets and nut arrangement Dremel had.
Also I really enjoy my cordless 10.8 volt Lithimum Battery Dremel tool as it so convenient to use without a cord and has plenty of power and the battery recharges fairly quickly, about 20 minutes if not fully drained.
Now as far as changing the light bulb that was very good just be sure of your of easily excessable hand holds as you did. It just requires a bit of extra engineering.
On a different note about window glazing: A few months back I placed an order with Micro Mart for a couple of bottles of their [wonder] Window Glazing and decided to try it out on an Old Mantua Bobber Caboose I have and run and even though the window sizes, are not that large but one complete opening of about a .25" x 3/16" I figured the stuff should work fine as the old stuff I had from another source, worked fine in larger openings.
Well this stuff would adhear from edge to edge and looked like it was going to work great only to have it let go at one point or another so it didn't form a window pane as proclaimed and I'm rather disappointed.
If it did work like the old stuff it was an easy way to glaze any bare openings you wanted too.
Oh, I thought I'd mention that the Soldering Station, a Weller Style, I bought from Micro Mark which has an infinitely variable heat control, I use mine set at about 400* and even though it takes a bit of time to warm up it cool to hold and solders great. I did grind the pencil point tip into a chizzel < tip though. So far it has plenty of heat to solder the code 70 rail to the PC strips as well as together at the point> of the frog so it should work out fine for not to much of a price.
That's about it for now.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and safe one too!
