Speaking of monkey poo, I kind of miss Chris hanging out here with us.
I was just thinking about Chris the other day. What happened to him?

Hey, when I type in the reply box, I see "auto-saved" come up after a bit. Ok, how do you retrieve the auto-save?

He is, or was as of 3 hours ago, alive and well, working as the maintenance guy at a trailer park. At that time he told me he had found a yellowjacket nest the hard way.

Good late afternoon,
It been another warm one here in Coarsegold so I didn't go out too much, just to open the car to let it vent a bit better.

As far as the party at Karls I'm rather disappointed as I haven't been there but now that I know Eric knows the directions that a big help! Not to worry Karl, I tread lightly

It's interesting you mentioned Chris, I hadn't been very active for awhile and didn't noticed that he hadn't been posting so it good you guys brought his name up.

I had an interesting experience yesterday when out at at the layout. As I mentioned before the motor on my Atlas TT didn't want to run but I could turn the armature shaft by the sheave with the 'O' ring drive built without much problem so I wasn't quite sure what the problem was? So yesterday I figured I try it again on a fluk it might work and lo-and-behold it ran as it should so I let it turn the table around in both directions for a while. One problem solved! But for some reason I'm still not getting power to the rail on the TT yet about two weeks ago I was trying to get a MDC 4-4-0 I had sitting on the table to run and it finally did but then when I tried it a bit later nothing? I have a little 0-4-0 with a head light to it which is a kind of continuity checker and when I put it on the TT, I don't get any light at all but if I lift it off the TT and put it on the mainline the light comes on even when I just touch the two back drivers.

I think my Atlas twin controler may be bad so I'll probably replace it along with getting a polarity reversing switch which I should have put in before anyway but the TT isn't tied into any other hot rails now anyway.

Catch you guys later.

I've been to Karl's house, I can lead you guys straight to it if you want! :p

. . .
I recovered from yesterday's 24hr bug, so I was able to do more layout prep after supper. The evening highlight was setting up the Trailer Jet; I'd never actually seen these Accurail piggyback flatcars in action before. After the bad experiences I had with the earlier Athearn blue-box version of these, I was a little concerned that the trailers would make them top-heavy. However, my fears were quickly laid to rest - I was able to push the train backward into its staging track [the opposite end was already occupied], with not even a hint of wobbling. Accurail has definitely made a believer out of me!

Hi Ken,
Glad your feeling better.

Your post about the Accurail car or cars is really quite coincidental as before I read your post I just finished up posting quite a long list of Accrail cars under the 'For Sale & Wanted' section as my supplier had just sent the listing to me yesterday I believe it was and figured some of you guys might be interested? So your post sure seems to work hand in hand with my listing and I was glad to hear the good report as I really knew nothing about that manufacturers line of cars.

Thanks, that was coincidence alright!

Next time you talk to him, tell him he needs to stop by! I kinda miss the old monkeypooflinger!

Several of the items on this latest purchase list will be fun working on. They're mine now so it can't be called advertising sale items since they're no longer for sale. Here are a few.

Varney F3A dummy. Item #400560272956

Athearn F7 superpower chassis. Item #121165941226

Varney F3A power. Item #111151448460

Athearn F7 parts chassis. Item #121166171783
I like the F3 metal body.......and the last on the list parts chassis looks most cool. I'm just going by appearance. I'm sure soon you will be saying "It's alive!" :D

Saturday morning, warm, high humidity, chance of showers, Wow, I could have written this in December!

Have a goodun everyone!

Good Morning: Happy Saturday!

It's 68° and overcast today. According to the "Weather Dude", it might rain, or it might not rain, it may be cloudy or sunny, depending on where you are at.......all of this within the CH7 viewing area. Talk about keeping all possibilities covered. In other words, if you are planning to grill your steaks and ribs you may be able to use your patio grill, but keep your George Foreman handy, just in case.

The Metal F3 body and Superpower chassis ought to make one powerful hauler, somewhat like the "Hobbytown" chassis and the "Carey" metal PA1, that claimed to be able to climb a 45° incline. Speaking of "Hobbytown", I picked up one of the E unit chassis at Timmonium about 5 years ago, to go with a Rivarossi E8 shell. This is before I became addicted to DCC. I have them somewhere, lurking in my basement, among the unfinished and forgotten projects cave.

Enough of my wisdom this morning, have a fantastic weekend!

Joe

That would make for a very heavy puller. Unfortunately the thick roof of the Varney loco (the center with the radiators and stacks is a separate piece that's pretty thick) doesn't allow enough space for the superweight to fit. Same for the thick sides. I'll be having to do some work on the shell for the Athearn chassis to fit as it is. Even without the superweight it's going to be heavier than an Athearn superpower F7 anyway. I already have several of these on the layout that have Athearn and Athearn clone frames (Proto/Stewart/Bowser) with home built drives. No two have the same length drive shafts nor the same exact type of motor (NWSL, PPW, Mashima) or same length flywheels.

Hey, when I type in the reply box, I see "auto-saved" come up after a bit. Ok, how do you retrieve the auto-save?
Look to the lower left of the reply box. There's usually something like 'Retrieve Auto-Saved Information'. If you lose what your typing click there. If you can't see it, well you just have to start over.

'Morning everyone, I'd provide a weather forecast for this area but I see Karl already beat me to it.

Nothing new on the layout yesterday, Fridays are always SWMBO's and my night out. Today I'll start doing the 'rehearsal' operations and mark the elapsed time of each, hope no major problems will be revealed. The only thing standing in my way is 2 acres of lawn that need mowing plus a few honey-dues.

Have an enjoyable day!

Good morning. It's 75° with 91% humidity. The high will be 98° but will feel like 107°.

Not much going on today and I have no plans set. According to USPS tracking the Varney metal F3A went through Shreveport last night, so I should be getting it today.

Good morning everybody

Jeff was talking about the Varney metal F3's. I have modeled HO for many years, and I recall the ones I had. I remember an early Varney drive that did not work very well, too. ... Some of you were talking about Hobbytown too. I had several E7's and PA1's.

Below are Hobbytown PA1's that I put together and painted for Katy RR. I still have one of them on my display shelves.

Good afternoon all, [never know when a lady might pop in.]

It another fairly warm day here in Central Calif. I vunder what does Wunderground Weather Say? It's 96.0°F and feels like it, the low will be 66°F, that's better than last night which was about 72 till about 5:30Am I think. The Hum-i-dity is 25% and it's a partially cloudy sky so there is a possibility of some rain here in the foothills. My elevation is not real high at 1,875' but above most of the Central Valley smog and fog. Speaking of Smog, since we all have been getting our cars Smogged to prevent that stuff for the last 15 or 20 years now how come we still have Smog?? Ever ask yourself that question.

Or how about another very rellivant issue, if congress is so against the deficit and they are the ones supposedly taking care of and correcting these things then why do we have a deficit??

What are they doing, that they shouldn't be: What aren't they doing that they should be!?

Speaking of individuals we haven't seen in a while, how about Willis, one of the Mods on the forum here. Well I just wrote to him yesterday and he said he's had quite a rough year so far. His health is fine, but due to medical complications his wife who he'd been careing for over the last couple years passed away this past July 28th., I think I remember he saying.

I'm sure he'd like to hear from anyone who'd care to write to him.

Well that's it for now.

Thanks Jeffrey. It is only there if you leave the page and come back to it. The other day I hit the wrong button and wiped out my post. The retrieve button wasn't there. We need a "wrong button pushed" post retriever thingy, lol :D
