Jeff - hope everything goes smoothly at the doc visit.

Mike - 10 years ago, I'd have never believed it if somebody told me those C-liner photos were N-scale, they look like HO. Incredible how detailed N stuff is nowadays!

. . .

I finally got my track cleaned [I think, I hope..?]. I filled the CMX with lacquer thinner and shoved it around the layout with 3 geeps wherever practical. Spurs became a PITA though, so I wound up just pushing the dang thing by hand in those places. Not sure if every inch of track is white-glove clean or not, but...either way, I'm putting all my rolling stock back on it this coming Tuesday afternoon. Or perhaps earlier, if I can find enough time to sneak out there after supper on Monday.

Good Morning! from Tipton IN.

I could be wrong......yet it appears this unique looking DL-109 may have some first class seating right up front inside the engine itself......if that's what all these extra windows are indicating. What an attractive beauty!

Naaaah Mike,
Those windows were so the crew could see the oil leaks better!;)

Good morning. It's 58 and mostly clear. This is supposed to be the last day for a week or so where the low is below 60.
About a month ago, I brought home a new BLI N&W class J, which promptly failed. I returned it to the LHS, and swapped it for another one. It worked the first time I used it, 3 weeks ago. Yesterday evening, I put it on the track, and it made it about halfway around my layout before the smoke unit stopped working. I'll be giving them a call later today. This is the third BLI engine to fail, and the second one with a bad smoke unit, in the last two months. Now that I think about it, I have had three smoke unit failures, and four decoder meltdowns, in the last year with BLI steam engines.
Everybody try to have a good Monday.

Good morning. It's 73° with 100% humidity. The high will be 92° but will feel like 99°.

Still feeling the muscle aches from yesterdays little jaunt next door for the barbeque. Today I'll be taking it easy as usual. Other than that no plans. We'll just see what comes up.

Good Morning

Yet another sunny and humid day here...85 feeling like 100 here...oh...and we do have a chance of those ol' t'underin'boomers as well....

As well, SWMBO has given me a new list of things to do, see, buy...so....off I be doing this...maybe later on I might get a chance to get into the train room...:rolleyes:

Good Morning:

65° and overcast at the Jersey Shore. Looks like rain any time.Yesterday, I heard a TV weather dude exclaim that next weekend is the end of summer. Huh?

Carey, It's good hearing that your surgery was successful. Mike, that first class seating you're talking about in that Alco is a wooden box. Terry, that's a streak of bad luck with BLI, you're having. I hope it gets resolved. I don't have that many BLI engines, but the one's I do have are somewhat quirky. I'm sort of reluctant to run them for some reason. Jeffrey, sounds like your recovery is moving right along.

Today's we take a ride to the local orchard for some peaches.

Joe

65 and sunny in central Maryland this morning, cuz we sent our clouds to the jersey Shore for an end of summer party!

Carey, glad to hear the old peepers are on the mend!;)

Jeffrey, I'm glad to hear you are getting out and about, not trapped in the house. Pretty soon, we'll see you on "dancing with the stars", right?

Terry, thats it, we're taking all your BLI's away and giving you some refurbished "Chattanooga Choo-Choos". You keep bustin up the good stuff!

Carey, glad your second eye surgery went well. Now you can convert the Alabama Central to Z scale and run scale-length trains! ;)

As I remember the extra side windows were decorative. These were later removed and replaced with a steel screen.
Yes I saw some photos of other DL-109's with screens or vents in place of the (passenger) windows. I apologize because.....when I said that above about possible passengers riding inside the locomotive....I had my tongue-in-cheek.....so to speak! I was amazed how all the windows on the Walthers Proto N warbonnet version make it look so inviting....and I want to ride in there!

Yeah....I have the first interview in 5 weeks tomorrow at 7:00 am. I interviewed with this company for another position as I was moving to Missouri last fall. I wasn't sure I wanted a traveling position and after the past 2 weeks flying to Atlanta and driving back, I'd rather not fly any longer.
Patrick, I hope your interview goes well and you get a position that's a good fit for your needs. I read about your driving from atlanta. That's a long haul back to wichita from there.

You'd only do it once. Those twin six-bangers would leave you with your ears banging. But being as there isn't as much as even one DL-109 left on the face of the earth we'll never be able to find out. Most were scrapped during the 1950's and a few survived to the early-mid 1960's. The last (PP-716) was scrapped at the Dover st yard in June 1969.

Nothing exciting to report tonight. Just another day. Tomorrow my father and I will be going to see my doc in Oakdale and hopefully I'll be getting these stitches and staples removed from what remains of the lower half of my right leg. That's all for tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

Nothing much happening today except a trip to Oakdale to see about getting these stitches and staples removed. Other than that I have no other plans.

Good Morning:

Sunny and 70° this morning. It appears to have rained overnight. Not much planned for today.

UPS delivered my Bowser PRR H30 covered hoppers yesterday afternoon. The cars are nice. I bought one in 1950s Shadow Keystone scheme and two in the 1960s Keystone scheme. The cars have fine detail, perhaps not as fine as Tangent or Exactrail, but super fine for Bowser. They roll freely and I'm real happy with them.

In another effort to free my money from my wallet, Walthers has announced they are doing the Pullman Standard Plan 4167 10-6 sleeping cars, (C&O prototype), in B&O. The car will be the non fluted version. B&O acquired 10 non fluted cars in 1950, then bought 4 more with fluted sides from the C&O. In all likelihood two of the B&O will find their way to my house.

For someone who resolved not to spend a whole lot of money on trains this year , the recent releases of "interesting stuff", have busted my budget.:(

Have a good day.

Joe

I talked to the people at Broadway, and they are sending me a replacement smoke unit fan for my J. I told them it was unacceptable for me to send in the engine and wait for it for over two months in order to get a part replaced that I can do in 5 minutes. They agreed, and apologized again for the second bad J in a row. Maybe they should start selling stealth models again.
