Hey All,

Gonna be just about perfect today, the humidity disappeared about 9:30 pm and will stay low for a good day or two, then dewpoints supposed to crawl back up to 70. The sun is out, but we need some rain if we are looking for a green lawn.

Must be a new conductor on the BNSF last night. The way he laid on that horn going through town last night I think he must have a cootie in his pants or something.

For work I'll be driving around the countryside looking at road and culvert replacements. Did some sanding on my suspended layout last night. My wife is anxious to see it going. Where did that come from?

Good Morning:

72 and overcast this morning. Going up to 86 with T-showers predicted. Some weather dude on TV yesterday was lamenting that August has not generated the anticipated Tropical Storms. Really.........
Joe

Thats cuz they all predicted a season full of every malady except fire & brimstone, now they have egg on their faces. I really wish I would have gone to meteorological school. That way I could have a job where I could get paid for being wrong!

Played another old game today. Doom II. Who remembers that one?

I played a lot of Doom II! The plasma rifle and the BFG-9000. The BFG cleared a room real nice but the plasma rifle was more thrifty on power. Got killed more than once by over using the BFG and getting caught by groups of nasties while low on ammo, and that rocket launcher had a nasty blowback zone. No good in tight quarters! Ahhh...memories!!!

The cheat code IDDQD (God mode) works wonders. IDFA restocks ammo and IDKFA gives all keys and restocks ammo. IDCLIP turns clipping mode on and off.

The monthly meeting of the local model train club is tonight. Not an official member though I occasionally show up there and know the core group by name. They have a big fully landscaped HO/Digitrax layout on fifteen 4' x 8' panels. Two other smaller layouts too. I should go down there for a hoot!

I still have Doom, Doom II, Spear of Destiny, Wolfenstien3D, Heretic. And while looking at some of the programs on this old computer I found my MSDOS version of Hell House, one of the last games I wrote. That was back in 98 I think.

Not much happened today. Played a game of Starfleet1 and this time I won though it was by the skin of my teeth. Also played Doom II and Wolfenstien3D. While looking through the hard drive of this old computer I found some MSDOS games I wrote back in the 90's. I'll have to dig out the QBasic compiler and set it up for WinXP tomorrow so I can play them a bit. Anybody thinks I can't run an 8 bit program under XP with no conversion doesn't know me very well. Tomorrow morning I'll be going to town for a doctors appointment. It'll be my first time out of the house since I got out of the hospital. It also means I'll be using a walker. That's gonna be slow going.

That's it for tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

Bill, with that handheld it appears you have an upscale emoticon using DCC.........wow! :D

I could only sleep three hours before feeling not tired anymore. So I shall stay awake for awhile, get my haircut soon as the place opens, then nap later on. Amazing thing I've not noticed until this week on ebay.......many great deals on model train items.........auctions ending without a single bid!

Good morning. It's 73° with 92% humidity. The high will be 95° and will feel like 103°.

Good Morning - Happy Friday!

The cool Canadian Air, promised by the weather dude must have made a wrong turn. At 72°, it's actually warmer than this time yesterday.

Once I get moving, there is a lawn to cut, but first, more coffee. My model railroad budget is busted. Bowser's PRR/PC/CR H30A covered hoppers arrived at my LHS, and I just had to order three for my layout's Soda Ash customers. It's a good thing that I'm not a steam era modeler, or I would really be in trouble.

There are 38 days remaining, before the NHL season opener. Where did the summer go??

Enjoy your weekend!

Joe

Doc appointment got changed to the 30th and now it looks like things have gotten squirrely. The time on it is too late for my father to take me there and back and the Home Health transport service apparently doesn't run on Mondays. He's gotten the appointment changed to Tuesday and has been working on getting something set up with Community Transport and so far it sounds like he's jumping through hoops at a three ring circus with no rings, no hoops and no ringmaster. I'm starting to wonder when we'll be required to stop and throw peanuts to the elephants.

I was digging around and came across some old layout photos. These were taken around the time of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Parts of this layout were destroyed by Rita.

Hello Forumites,

We here in central MD have 77*F, overcast with just enough sprinkling rain that I can't walk farther than 500ft without an umbrella.

Yesterday I got my daughter safely settled into her new college. I had intended to leave at 9:00am and make the round trip in 12 hours - 5 to drive up, 2 to help her get checked in, and another 5 to drive home. Instead I was up there for 5 hours, because of computer malfunctions and other issues, so I didn't get back home until midnight. Needless to say, I was exhausted.

In an ideal world, I would be in the garage (trainroom) tomorrow running my track-cleaning consist over every linear inch of track, then putting the trains back on. But SWMBO has a different agenda for me, which includes a list of honey-dues that will consume my entire day. If my son was around to help, these chores would get done fairly quick. But he has to drive himself back to college and wants all of Sunday to get settled before he has to start attending classes.

Got a little bit accomplished today. I duct taped over a big gap under the a/c unit in my fathers office. I had to get down on the floor for that. Getting back onto the chair was easier than I thought it would be. I just grabbed the seat so I could get onto both knees then got my one foot planted on the floor and pushed up and turned around so I landed on the seat. Nothing to it. Then I pulled the filter out of the a/c unit and cleaned it and put it back in place. Just needed a good vacuuming. Reset the filter change alert and that was that. If he's smart he'll put a fiberglass filter in it. Those cheap screen filters the units come with only catch big stuff. Dust gets through and clogs up the coils. However he's one of those who doesn't spend the extra buck on appliances even if it means saving money down the road. But give him a new car and he's off buying the extended warranty on it like a shot! My step mother made a very good taco soup today. There's a bit left so I may have that for lunch tomorrow. My doc appointment for today got moved to Friday, the 30th and my appointment in Oakdale got moved from Monday to Tuesday and I have to go by the Louisiana Transit van there and back so it's going to be a long day. I wish people would leave my schedules alone. Plans for my future that I don't know about worry me.

Well that's all for today. See y'all tomorrow.

Have a good evening!!

Oh...btw...Garry...no problem with money budget....it is my building supplies she had her eyes on...particularly the wood flooring for my recording studio...:confused:

I now have the little Spring cuddled up on my arm...so I'm here typing with my other arm.

My day will be taken over by SWMBO's honey do list...so I better be at the dang thing...I might get some train time....tomorrow.... :(
