Garry - that's an outstanding layout you've created!

I'm also enjoying the throwback pictures of layouts from yore. It brings back memories of my own Plywood Pacific on a 4x8 sheet of plywood - Atlas "Great Eastern Trunk" trackplan, brass code 100 track, Matchbox cars, a Mantua Mikado and a wide body Athearn GP-9. Good times! :) Wish I had some pictures of it.

Good Morning...

Boy, was I busy the last couple of days...SWMBO decided that 'we' needed to go up into the attic to see what was up there...did I say ...'we'? Sad Nah...it was more like ...little ol' me that went up to the attic...oh joy Tongue Tied...it was chock-a-block with more junk than ...."Carter had Liver Pills"Dead So...to start...several old chests, a rocking chair, a couple of old paintings and several other items of woe had to come down to the main part of the house...to rest...where else...in my just cleaned up and ready to reno studio space!!!Bang HeadGrumpy So, guess whose workspace gets to be done...first? SWMBO's.....growl!!!!Bang Head

I'm going to crawl back to the basement and mope....Black Eye

Not much going on today. I haven't had to use the pain meds for a day now so I guess that's a good sign. Next time the home health people come to change the dressing I'll be able to get another look at how well the wound is healing. I may do some work on the Apple IIe later today depending on how good I'm feeling.

Actually just one "Squeeze" .... I started calling my wife that about a year ago following a near tragedy. We were at a restaurant, and she had a choking accident, and could not breath. I saved her with the Heimlich method which squeezed the food up into her mouth from her windpipe.

The train room is long and narrow following a foundation wall in the lower level of a hillside house.

Hi Gary, That was very good you knew how to do the Heimlich manuver.

As far as your basement area, unless it's already completely blocked in you could possibly excavate a bit more if your shy on width? Just be sure the floor joists are supported good before you start taking too much dirt out.

Hi all, just resting from Shop-Vac'ing the trainroom. Finished the first 60%, hopefully I'll have it all finished before suppertime. The 25ft hose I bought enables me to leave the vacuum unit in the center and still reach even the remotest location in the garage. But it is still exhausting crouching down to get under the layout, standing up, crouching again, standing up,... you get the idea. One of the BP meds I'm on causes me to feel lightheaded when I get vertical, which slows me down even further.

Barry, I feel your pain! Since my M-I-L passed away last December, my SWMBO has brought scores of furniture and junk from her house. She's storing it in our basement family room [blocking access to my adjoining workshop] and under my layout as well. Everything is totally chaotic on the lower level of our house at the moment.

Hello Doctor,

Glad to hear you are feeling better, I hope the trend continues.

Apple IIe! Holy mackerel Andy! I took a computer science class with one of those many, many moons ago! That was a lot of fun being a single man with a full time job in a class full of young college girls, thanks for bringing up some good old memories for me!

Louis

Good late afternoon all,
The day is fairly overcast and it feels like about 85-90* along somewhat high humidity for this area, at almost 4:51Pm. Lets see what WW says? It's 96.0°F dropping to 66.0°F tonight. The Humidity is is only 24% but it sure feels like more!

Hello Jeffrey, Glad to hear you back, are you at your place or your folks place. I assume your with them for now but you find more and more easy to get around I'm sure.

Another modeler friend John, who is also modeling 1890 to 1910 era stuff directed me to a sight, Geared Steam, 'My modified Atlas Turn-table', a blog but it's more like a Web sight has some very interesting stuff on it. Some of the guys from there mighht also be on this forum?

Time to get to work on my layout.

Take care.

Yes, I'm at my fathers place. My place is virtually impossible for me to get into right now much less move around in it. No space for a walker even.

Been playing some more of Starfleet1. I got promoted to vice-admiral and got my butt kicked on the very next mission. The Galactica is out of commission for a while so I'm now commanding the UGAS Yamato. I went out and exacted revenge on the enemy for what they did to the Galactica and came back with a stunning victory. Not much else happening today. Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Jeff - Glad to see you've got ways to keep yourself busy during your recovery. Kinda makes me wonder how people in your situation coped 40 years ago before any of this technology was mainstream.

. . .

Well I finished with the Shop Vac phase - woohoo!:D Got clean layout surfaces again, finally. Now I need to get some lacquer thinner for my Clean-Machine car so I can do a final cleaning of the rails before I put any rolling stock back on. Also while I was vacuuming, I discovered a 1"x0.5" opening at the base of one of the big garage doors...uh-oh! Maybe that's why my insect body count seemed unusually high this summer! I need to get some expanding foam into that gap pronto! It's wide enough not only for large beetles but also mice!

David.... Remarkably, I instantly remembered Heimlich which I Learned in Boys Scouts long ago. It was scary when it happened.

Ken in Maryland ... It's good to see some familiar posters from the MR forum.

Here's a view of Union Station on my layout.
