ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Glad to hear things are going well for you, Jeffrey, and I hope you make a complete and speedy recovery. It may not be easy but it's no hill for a climber!

If you'd like learn to more about me or my model railroad, let me know.

You bet we would, especially because it's my favorite railroad! I grew up along the CB&Q tracks as a kid on the farm and I'm acquiring items for my eventual N scale CB&Q layout. Seems like work and other things keep getting in the way. Guess you can't have one without the other though.

Came home last weekend and my wife, son, daughter and my two grand daughters went to Six Flags at Eureka, MO for the weekend. Had a great time but it was a lot of driving for me. Left Missouri Sunday morning and I dropped my son off at his house in Peoria on the way to work. Over 350 miles of driving that day. Today, my wife and I are taking our youngest grand daughter to the State Fair in Springfield. I thought weekends were meant for resting! I may stay at the campground next weekend and spend some time building some model kits. That would save a lot of money on gas as well, because my truck isn't very economy minded.

I haven't kept up with all of the goings on because I have to take my Kindle to MickyD's to get on the internet and 10 hour days don't leave a lot of time for extras like that. I have to be at work at 6 AM and I'm not really much of a morning person. Tonight, I hope to have a chance to read all of the things I've missed and maybe even rest a little. Hope everybody has a great day!

Glad to see you back Jeffrey. I was never worried, you seem to be too tough of a cookie to let much get in your way!

It's a gray start to Saturday - cool and damp, almost like late fall. Enjoying a quiet start to the day, ensconced on the sofa bracketed by two Dachshunds while a Border Collie/Lab mix is snoring at my feet. My wife is reading a book on her iPad while I peruse the laptop. Yard work was completed yesterday, so no outside chores today. We have one sad task today - attending the funeral of the husband of a former colleague. That's coming up early this afternoon. Spent last evening going through old model railroad magazines to catalogue articles of interest. I have Model Railroader dating back to 1973, so one of these days I'm going to have to sell off the lot and keep the ones of most interest. Not looking forward to that. :p

Enough rambling - time for another cup of coffee. Happy Saturday, everyone! :)

[TD="class: content"]Thanks for the welcome. .... Here is a bit of an introduction about myself. . .... I live in KY with My Main Squeeze. We have 5 adult kids and each are married. We have 6 grandkids. They are scattered around in MI, OH, NC, and AZ. ...... My first train was Marx when I was a kid. Next Lionel. Now, my layout is HO. It is a Burlington themed layout, and it is named "Heartland DIvision of CB&Q". It is in a 64' long room, and most of the planned layout has been built. All has scenery except I am now building a section in a 6' x 16' area. ..... I have Lionel trains which are employed for Christmas tree duty each year.

Here is a photo taken on my layout.

Looks nice Garry! I've alway been a fan of the CB&Q. Might have something to do with a loco I got around age 10 that I ran the wheels off of.

No longer modeling the "Q", but I still like Chinese Red!

Great looking locomotives and rock layers Garry!

I obtained an additional 13 (previously owned) atlas turnouts this week. Eleven of them function correctly.....two need a slight extra nudge. Only 47 left to go before I reach my first 100! With my sore back, collecting turnouts is much easier than landscaping. :D

Looks like you made quite a haul there Mike! Do they match what you need in your track plan - are you really planning to use 100 turnouts?

This old photo is my inspiration and the closest thing I have to a track plan at the moment. This is/was in Columbus Ohio. I'm not sure how it looks now-a-days, but it seems to have alot of turnouts.

Had a great time at the fair today and had the best peach ice creme I've ever ate. My grand daughter touched a live king snake today, the first snake she has been up close with. She summoned up her courage and went for it! It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. She takes the fish off of her own pole and baits her own hook as well. Her, and her older sister, are pretty adventurous and will give most anything a shot. We're really proud of both of them!

Only one?????? Why are you torturing me?:p Very nice work!

Been a somewhat busy day. Helped with folding laundry for a while then looked for a few things online. Cable went out at one point so I watched Tron (original) to pass the time. Now it's time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Karl ... Back at you with my first HO layout back when I was a kid. I liked Santa Fe at the time. I could see Burlington trains. You can see I was a tuba player in the school band, and the wallpaper was wild stuff.

2 Q's for GarryCBQ.

A 64' room, Wow!?
My Main Squeeze. How many squeezes do you have???

Actually just one "Squeeze" .... I started calling my wife that about a year ago following a near tragedy. We were at a restaurant, and she had a choking accident, and could not breath. I saved her with the Heimlich method which squeezed the food up into her mouth from her windpipe.

The train room is long and narrow following a foundation wall in the lower level of a hillside house.

Weatherbug is projecting sunny and temps in the mid to high 80's for next week.....with a high of 89* for this coming thursday. Summer still be cooking.......though there are a few small hints of gold in the leaves on the big trees already.
