Our LG vacuum broke down the other day with a scraping/grinding sound, so pulled it apart and found that the bearing behind the fan had collapsed (ball bearings fallen out). A non dismantlable motor of course, annoying 'cause the brushes and commutator are in really good condition, so went on the net to see if I could find a replacement. Found one listed on a local website for 75 bucks, so immediately ordered it. Get a message back yesterday that they are no longer available. Marvellous, a perfectly good vac (with the speedsuction controls on the handle) is now defunct for the sake of a bearing that can't be got at.

Good afternoon guys,
It's 95.7°F with 20% Humidity and a 3.8 mph WNW breeze.

Nothing much new to report on here.

Toot, See if there is a number on the backside of either of the races (The things the ball bearings ride in) and contact LG or W.W.Grainger . A non dismantleable motor,,,,I'm having trouble with that on, cuz they don't grow on trees that way,,,,someone had to assemble it. Look at it this way,,,if its broke, you cant break it any more!

I've seen motors like that before. In the case I'm thinking of it was all pressed together and disassembling it would require the use of a press to pry the pieces apart. Such devices are used in auto repair garages every day. Of reassembling the motor requires that it be pressed back together. It's somewhat like trying to repair the internal circuits of a modern computer mother board. At the end of the day it's really not worth the trouble.

I also managed to get in some time to run some trains around and, believe it or not, get into planning a garden RR set up.... 8-|

Is that the one burning West of Riverside, or has another one started?

Hi Terry,

Good thing I checked back a page on the posts or I would have missed your question to my prior post.

To better show the difference in location Coarsegold is about 200? miles directly South from the point where the verticle line of the Eastern boundry of the state vears off at an angle which should put you in the foothill area just South of Yosemite National Park and at about the middle of the state length and width wise. Coarsegold is 18 miles South of Yosemite's Southern entrance on Hwy 41 which heads North form Fresno, CA. in the Central Valley which is 31 miles South of Coarsegold.

The fire I referred to is to the East of Coarsegold by about 20 miles but at the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range near Huntington Lake is the 'Aspen' fire and has burned nearly 7,000 acres at this point.

The fire in Riverside County is to the East of the Los Angeles area which is about 350 miles South of my location and Riveside County is to the East by about 35 miles and slightly North a bit.

Hope I didn't make this too confusing.

Other than getting my fathers tractor running today was fairly uneventful. There was one thing that made me jump. A chicken hawk slammed into one of my windows. I thought at first it was terminal for the hawk but it got up, stumbled around a bit then flew off going about as straight as a drunk driver on a texting binge. All my windows are Lexan so there was no harm there.

Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning:

Right now it's sunny and 68°. The aches and stiffness are present this morning so I'm waiting for the Naproxen to kick in. i have more sanding and painting to finish this morning. If the energy holds up, there is the lawn to cut this afternoon...........

Have a great day!

Joe

Good Morning

Everything is dull here...we seemed to have found another dull bucket for our viewing pleasure here...

Today will be another one of those file work days...they found a rat's nest that needed cleaning out ...apparently...

Later on I may see about picking up some books on garden railroading and see what kind of landscaping mayhem we will need to do here...

60 going for a high of 78 in northern Minnesota.

Opened up my new loco yesterday afternoon. Clues everyone into my budget- 39.99 from model train stuff.

For the price, I am quite impressed. Made in China, who would have guessed. I will have to get some chalk on it.IMG_4687.JPG

Good morning. It's 77° with 93% humidity. It feels like 86° already. The high will be 95° and will feel like 103°.

Not feeling 100% this morning. A little dizzy and my balance is a bit off. It's like the room keeps tilting from one side to the other. Seems like a good idea to stay off my feet and watch the TV for a while. Good thing I had no plans.

Well, since everyone's talking about their dull day, I've had a really dull one. I been watching paint dry, literally! Since I told yall about daughter's situation, I've been able to eliminate the mold problem with a real strong mold/mildew/fungicide. Then 3 coats of special formula Killz, that also has that stuff in it. The walls were just as white as they could be, and I just got through with the second coat of color on the walls. As soon as it dries, I get to do the baseboards. What fun!

I also have my first cataract surgery this next week. I'm actually looking forward to it. My near vision will be terrible without glasses, but it will be better than it is now. I've been having a hard time seeing things up close, like coupler springs lately, and the Dr said that while my close vision will never be 20/20 again, it will be better.

David, I ask the surgeon about waiting more than 2 weeks for the other eye, for an adjustment period, and she said there was no need, as if I haven't adjusted by the time of the next one, I would one in a billion who didn't adjust. They would run an eye exam afterwards and see if the lens has moved as that would be the only reason for the vision to be bad. The correction for that is a slight adjustment under IV sedation, and would take about 2 minutes. I'm OK with that.

Business must have been slow at model train stuff this afternoon. I placed an order for couplers, coupler assembly jig, one walthers soo line baggage car, and one kato U.P. Gevo locomotive.....at 12:47pm. A mere four hours later at 4:58pm order status was shipped with a tracking number.

Check this out.......a CSX Gevo coupled with similar union pacific heavy iron.

Woke up feeling bad this morning. Dizzy and off balance. I felt better later in the day and got a little bit of restoration work work done on one of the computers. Went to Los Mayas Mexican restaurant with my fatther and step mother for dinner. Now it's time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Mike (railfan), MTS is the best in the online business. I have had parcels from several other of the major players and their service and in particular their care in packaging stands head and shoulders above the rest.

As long as your comfortable with it that's the main thing. Of course, the deciding factor will be what your vision is like as the two week time draws close. One trick I've learned is to look at something with one eye closed and then the other to see which has the sharper focus and then close that eye and try to get the other eye to adjust to about the same focus which requires opening and closing each eye a number of times in the process.

God's speed in healing.
