funny thing is my girlfriend explained that to me about weak cold fronts coming down from the north but so far its still in the 80s during the day, infact we had thunder storms roll in the last couple of day it really strange
Sometimes, col front will drop down across the area, causing rain, wind, etc. Then, a day or two later, the same front will come back up, only this time it's called a warm front.

I think it's time for a new keyboard... The "S's", "A's", and one of the shift keys isn't working all the time. I may have to resort to an alternate until I get to the store nd get new one.

I know the feeling. My old keyboard was in bad shape. It worked OK most of the time but sometimes the number pad would fail or part of the alpha set would go out or the whole thing would fail. I kept a number of sentences I used quite a bit in a text document along with an assortment of words, letters and numbers that I could copy and paste as needed. I don't know how many posts I put together using the contents of that document!

I'm not exactly einstein.......but I have begun working on my own theory of model train-a-tivity.....none the less. Will this so far crude and carelessly constructed tale get more interesting as time goes on?:(

We can only hope so. :p:) (at least it can't get much worse)

It's been a long day for me. Not busy, just slow. I called the hospital today and preregistered for the cardiac stress test Thursday. That's gonna be a wasted day. I have that stress test in the morning then I have to take my father to the dentist at noon.

Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good afternoon all from Sunny Coarsegold, Calif.
Coarsegold is an Old Gold Mining [1849 - 1920 era] foothill community of about 21,000 but it spread out over a considerable area. It's one of the places, due North of Fresno, by 31 miles, where the boundries are not well defined.

Hi Flo & Francine, I see there are a fair number of guys in here, glad business is good. I'll just have some coffee, thanks.

Well, I finally got around to doing some need switch point repair last night.
Here's a shot showing the switch I repaired, it was the Left hand point rail that came loose.

After getting that done I postioned the Switch stand and got that tacked down in place. I prefer using very small long wood screws but need to get more so the small wire tacks will work till then.

Then I had to work on a 2-8-0 Consoldation to get it lubed and adjusted.

I just had a neighbor, Daniel stop over with his son Travis, 10yrs Old, who enjoyed seeing my trains immensely and watching them run as they climbed the 6-8% grade up to Ridgecrest.

I enjoyed seeing his enthusiasm and sent his Dad an email giving the forum address! Good to see younger guys coming into the hobby.

David, I like the rustic appearance and earthtone colors of the scenery on your layout. Very nice work!

Even though I'm stuck with a 187 IQ I'm no Einstein either, but I eventually figure things out.
Jeffrey, did you ever read about Robert J. Oppenheimer.....and his work on the manhattan project? (first atom bomb)

He was an amazing....super intellect.....kind of guy. Very interesting character.

Jeffrey, do you (or anyone else) know the time frame that the KO&G used that paint scheme shown on your boxcar? I have one from my original N scale equipment and was wondering if it would be appropriate for a mid 60's era.

I have no idea. I know the line was taken over by the Texas and Pacific (T&P, owned by Missouri Pacific) in 1964 (KO&G merger with T&P was in 1970) but very little beyond that.

Wow people! Today is like....12-12-12. Holy bah-chingos! How did that happen? :p
Better hurry! You only have nine days left (if you believe that sort of thing). I know people who have sold their homes, quit their jobs, moved out to the sticks, all in preparation of 12/21/12. How surprised (or disappointed) will they be when it's just another day?

Good morning. It's 32° with 95% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny today with a high of 55°.

Well it's just right at the freezing mark this morning. No matter, it's a nice 71° in here. There's a light fog out here by the lake. If it's yours please come and claim it and take it home.

My only plans for today are to do some work on the layout and maybe watch a movie or two.

No photo today but there is a short track-side video. You didn't think you were getting off the hook that easy did you? Just click the image below.

Good Morning!

It's a more "normal" 34F this morning, with sun and clouds. Today, I have plans to work on the layout. Tomorrow it's back to the mall.

You have to wonder about people who prepare for this end, or the other "end" predicted by the California Preacher a couple of years ago. What are they thinking?;) As Yogi Berra said, It ain't over, 'till it's over. And as they say on Dollar Store TV, "When it's gone, It's Gone!

Now that you mentioned it..............wow! :D:D

Lucky for us, there can't be a 13-13-13, unless they suddenly change the calendar.. Oh, but that's another topic.

Its funny, but all this speculation on the end of the Mayan calender being tied to the end of the world is ridiculous. The prediction is based on the interpretation of a German archeologist from the 1870's IIRC. Its based on the corner of one panel from the Dresden Mayan Codec. It shows a crocodile like creature spewing lots of water from its mouth and two gods looking on.

There is some that interpret this as the end, but others state, from other panels, that this is merely the return of the yearly rains after another of the long droughts that contributed to the downfall of the Mayans. Many archeologists now believe that the two gods are the God of Fertility and the God of Farming, indicating that there will be a good growing season. If this really is the end of the world, as the German archeologist believes, why are there "scenes" in other Codecs, there are only 4 in existence, and on some newly interpreted archietecture carvings that have dates, and "scenes" on them several years past the 12/21/12 date?

It ain't gonna happen.
