Woke up at 5am about an hour ago.......had to turn on the air conditioning......in december. It's about 59* outside......with high humidity.......inside temp said 70* before turning on AC. We're back down to 67* now and all seems well. Had some midnight snacks too....maybe that made me heat up inside.

Having a cup-o-coffee now and headed off to do some internet window shopping for coal hoppers, decoders, track, turnouts, wire, ballast, flat cars, couplers, trucks, tools, etc.. Have a great day! :)

Wake-up was at 50F, with sun and clouds. Supposed to get into the mid 60s, before the rain and chill moves in, tonight.

After all the outdoor chores yesterday left me stiff as a board so I guess I'm not as nimble any more either:D.

Once I get moving, its a day of errands.

Everyone have a great day:).

Good morning. It's 67°, 100% humidity and very wet. It'll be mostly cloudy with a fair chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The high will be 75°.

Looks like a good day to get started on changing out the decoder in one of my GP7's. First thing on the list is to go through the CV's and write down the settings so I can program the new one properly. I have no other plans for today except of course to stay dry.

Good morning folks.

Well, my plan to play with trains didn't work out last night. My wife threw her back out four days ago and isn't much help around the house because of it. I spent the evening cleaning the house and doing laundry. Since I only have Sundays off, and they are booked through New Years, I have to do this cleaning business after work during the week. It's okay though, I can't relax with the trains if I know the house is dirty!:) She went back to work today so I'm hoping she's on the mend. Tonight I think I'll force the issue and turn the trains on even if I'm cleaning again. Good thing I have decent track work!

Time to get to work.
Have a good day everyone.

Busy working on the GP7. I'm about halfway through changing out the decoder. After removing the old one I turned it over and found the reason the light circuit wasn't working properly. It's got a really ugly burned area on it.

Wow! Surprised that burn only killed the lights. That is a nasty burn.

That was a funny thing too. The lights still worked. They just wouldn't turn off and couldn't be changed to flash or anything. They just stayed on steady. As far as motor function, the decoder works great.

Finished installing the decoder in the GP7 early this afternoon and took a few minutes to program and and test it. Everything is as it should be.

Had dinner with my father today. Chicken pies, home fries, corn, green beans, onions. He's an emotional wreck right now and I can't say as I blame him. At last report there's still no change in my mothers condition. She's still in a coma and they don't know why. This has been hard on the whole family and we're all showing the effects of it.

We still have thunderstorms rumbling through here, some rain but not as much as we need.

The GP7 I was working on today. Originally UP 116, now L&A 116. DCC. Digitrax DZ125 FX3 decoder. It's not much to look at but it's paid for.

Good Evening Guys,
Hi Flo and Francine, how are things going for you both? I'll just have some coffee for now. I see some of the other guys are here already, ya, there's Karl and Jeffery.

Today it was a bit sunny but I don't think it got much over about 50* then around 3:00Pm it became overcast again and cooled down even more.

Last night I was out in the garage looking at the way I had laid out the turn table and Central Valley tie strips leading into the Ridgecrest Engine facility as I don't think I'm making optimal use of my space along with the fact I'd like a longer tail track straight through from the main lead in track but then again that may not be necessary? I'm just thinking of possibly having a place to store some Maintenance of way car like a work train when not in use. It would mean pulling up what little bit I have spiked down but that minimal as well as I think it too close to the lower tunnel Portal to look realistic.

It's things like this that hold me up but that's half the fun of creating a layout, isn't it?

Say Jeffrey, Sorry to hear about your Mom and your Dad being so uneasy, I know it's no fun having to go through that situation.

Say Karl, Yes they do have grass fires here in Calif. and indeed some the Calif Forestry sets as a control burn to prevent other fires. Sometimes though the control burns get out of hand when the guy upstairs decides to cause the wind to blow which change what was supposed to be controlled to Uncontrolled in short order!

Karl I though I ask if you or others have had the same problem with a Rivarossi Dockside, I know yours is different, but mine seems to want to run fine and then it seems like if wants to bind up and I'm not quite sure where the problem lies?

If you or anyone else has had similar problems it would bed good to hear what was done or what the problem was determined to be?

Today is my birthday......I am 57 today........that's in people years......not dog years......ha ha! :)
