Somehow, I can't see a single mom spending six months to become a member at $165 per year just so she can stand around every Sunday and watch her kid play with trains.
Nor can I.

I'm up a bit late tonight but not by choice. I still feel like crap but not quite as bad as last night. Because of this I didn't do much work on Paradise Cove today. I finished one home block and started on another property block. I didn't feel up to doing more than that. Got a doc appointment to go to in DeRidder in the morning. I think they're going to make a mold so they can use it to make a casting of my stump to use for making a test socket. From there they can make changes so they make a proper socket for a prosthesis. I hope they can get it done quickly. I'd like to be able to walk again.
Time for me to try to call it a night. See y'all sometime tomorrow.

We pause for this announcement: And the World Series is over.
They played it? Sorry, I only pay attention baseball when they talk about the warning track!

Wife loves it, I don't have time to go out with my buddies and carouse and chase women!
Even for that reason, my wife wouldn't see any value in the hobby.
Good Morning! from Tipton IN.
It's Thu 10/31/13
Temperature in TIPTON IN
High temperatures will remain steady at 58 degrees with cloudy skies. Winds will remain steady around 21 miles per hour from the south. Expect rain amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.
Happy Halloween!
When did the World Series start? It was not even mentioned locally. There was a time when it was a news item, even when the Yankees were not involved. Who won?
Got to get ready for all the Goblins!'
Have a great day!

Good Morning and Happy Halloween! I live in an older neighborhood where there are a large amount of children and everyone is super gung-ho on the spook-o-ween festivities. Fortunately I live upstairs above two healthcare clinics which I'm hoping will result in few if any knocks on my door for treats. I wish I could be more in the spirit of things and I was for many years. I might go out for a drive and a snack somewhere during the peak couple of hours of the candy seeker rush.
Boston was the winner in six games.
Good Afternoon. It's 68° with 100% humidity. The high will be 78° and feel like 84°.

and tonight
Got up at 6:15 this morning and the rain was coming down hard. Got ready for my doctors appointment and 7:30 came around it was still raining hard and heavy. I got another shower on the way to the car and it rained all the way to DeRidder and all the way back. Now the funny part, while we were at the docs office the rain let up and it was calm. We got ready to leave and it started pouring again.
Report from the docs office: They made a fiberglass mold of my stump and took some measurements. I have to go back in two weeks to try on a test socket that I can walk around on so they can the rest of the information they need for a permanent fitting. The doc says I'll be walking by Thanksgiving.

Good afternoon,
The day is getting a slow start in some ways but it's a nice comfortable day out.
On the RR front, I finished the Whiskey Switch turnout needed to open the line back up to allow the for the laying of a second passing siding to help relieve traffic at the Horse Shoe Meadow Depot and extend the line over to the mine siding and extend it around the mountain. For this trackage and siding I'm going to be using Central Valley Tie Strips which should really speed up the track laying considerably to see more progress and operating area!
Say Jeffrey: Those are some nice rail line shots you posted, thanks.
Take care and have a good day.
Happy Halloween ................. Here is a BNSF Pumpkin for the occasion!
It is a rainy Halloween here.
Yesterday, I was in Nashville TN. My Main Squeeze arrived from Detroit at the Nashville airport. Next, we had dinner and visited with family members in Nashville.
Boo! Back at cha!

Well I don't feel any worse than I did this morning but I don't feel any better either. Maybe that's a good sign? No work was done on Paradise Cove today. In fact no work was done on anything. I just didn't feel up to it. The weather was pretty lousy today too. Rain all day. Heavy in the morning bordering on fifty gallon drums. We (my father and I) could hardly see the road while driving to DeRidder for my doc appointment this morning. He made a fiberglass mold of my stump and said in two weeks he'll have a test prostheses ready for me to stomp around on. It'll only be used in his office to find anything that has to be adjusted or changed before the final version is made. It'll be carbon-fiber. Very light but also very strong and non-conductive. He sees no reason why I shouldn't be walking by Thanksgiving.
I was looking for my KCS roster (the real roster, not models) earlier today. I found it but it's in XLS format and wouldn't you know this computer doesn't have Microsoft Excel. Well neither does my computer at home but that didn't stop me then and it wasn't going to stop me now. I did the same thing I did back then. I put Libra-Office on this system. It does everything I need to do with XLS documents and more and it's free so that's a plus I like. Now I can read my KCS rosters.
Well I'm quite tired so I'm going to wrap it up and call it a day. See y'all tomorrow. Hope I feel better by then.
The loco in this video is TFM 1604, an SD70MAC. The sound stinks but the video is fair.

I tried that first but it wouldn't download. The download banner just blinked then went right back to download now. I tried half a dozen times. So then I went hunting for Libra-Office which I have on my system at home. I found it, downloaded it and all is fine again.

Jeffrey, I installed LibreOffice on my current machine last December and it has served me well ever since. It has the two main tools that I need - spreadsheet and word processor - plus alot of other things I haven't yet bothered to look at. I'm quite happy with Libre!

Temperature in TIPTON IN
High temperatures will range from 48 to 46 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Winds will range between 13 and 17 miles per hour from the southwest. No precipitation is expected.
I noticed in a photo a couple pages back a section of track had a bunch of spikes pulled up.....and I see that often when I go watch trains. I told a CSX guy walking down the track one day and he didn't seem concerned but said he would tell the crew about it. I guess the rails don't tip over until they all fall out.
I felt bad for the kids because halloween was totally rained out yesterday.....but knowing this neighborhood there will no problem getting the treats out to the people. Today is partly sunny and 60* again.
Good morning. It's 53° with 100% humidity. The high will be 75° and feel like 79°. Dense fog.

We have a dense fog advisory in effect until 10:00 am. Looks like it covers most of central Louisiana.
The only definitive plan I have for today is to get the monthly bills paid. Beyond that I have no plans.

I picked up two items for use with my Apple //e's. One is a Disk II disk drive guaranteed to be working ($80) and the other is a CP/M co-processor card ($63). These items could have sold for a lot more. They should be here on or about Tuesday (5th). Got free shipping on the disk drive.
