Working on part two of Native Fury again. I've changed a few things. #1 when a direction is entered, IE S, the game responds with SOUTH, pauses for one second then executes the command. #2 In the middle of the circle that the homes in part two are clustered around is a large garden. Originally I had it labeled as Mr. Cable's garden and would advise the character to stay out of it. That just didn't feel right. So I changed it to Mr. Addam's garden. Seems like a good place to avoid. #3 in the kitchen of the metal house the character sees a large metal lunchbox on the kitchen counter. On the side is the label 'P. Addams'. Ring any bells? Gives me some ideas about what to put in the secret room. At present I'm starting work on the double-wide trailer next door (west) to the metal house. The plate beside the door reads 'M. Munster'. I'm planning on the character to see a large family portrait hanging on the wall as he enters. I'm gonna have some fun with this one!

Jeffrey as u know i came from NH so i know what cold is lol
But i never realized that u got cold in Louisiana ;)

Happy Monday Afternoon! It's a comfortable 65* degrees, sunshine and breezy. My second used Kato C44-9W U.P. locomotive obtained last week arrived two hours ago thankfully.....even though the USPS tracking inexplicably failed to post any updates since it left its location of origin. The Kato locomotive case has a very musty and/or smoke smell to it......ewe! But the engine itself is not quite as odorous. There are no defects to be seen and someone replaced the original couplers with microtrains units.....which....both types work well for me. This is the first Kato ever to balk and not run when I first applied power......a gentle nudge and she awakened and moved forward a little hesitantly with lights flickering a bit. After running back and forth some.....I removed the shell and gave the motor bearings a small drop of oil. Then coupled it with the other dash-9 and pulled the 50 car train around several laps. The lights stopped flickering and shine steady now. All seems well. I can probably improve the aroma of the storage case using a cloth dipped in a solution of pine-sol cleaner and warm water. Then it will smell like a pine forest.

Oh yeah, it can get cold. Coldest record temp was -16 in Minden way back in 1899. In my experience the coldest it's been here was -5 back in the 90's. Usually the coldest it gets is in the 20's with some times in the teens and a few times in the single digits. We've even had snow here on occasion. On the other hand it's not unusual for the grass to be mowed at Christmas.

Good afternoon Guys,
[BOLD]Say Jeffrey:[/BOLD] I tried to post yesterday late afternoon but got a very strange error message saying something about the, 'Database -??', being either down or corrupted, it sure seemed weird to me. I'm going to try and post this and see what happens as I don't have the ability to highlight anything to make it Bold or whatever so I'm attempting to do it by just using the code, which should work, I would think. Lets see? It didn't work so anyway I try and paste in my post from yesterday which also included an image loaded onto Photo Bucket.

Good late afternoon or maybe early evening as it's almost 5:30Pm,
Not too much going on here except sitting behind my computer rather than getting myself out into the train room and getting to work on the C & S West Short Line and getting another Right hand curved switch/turnout built so I can get the Whiskey siding and main line continued over toward the mine section.

Say Jeffrey: Thanks for the help with my looking for another little Old Diamond stacked 0-4-0T Teakettle, the older style loco's just aren't as plentiful as they used to be. I know Walthers and probably some others used to carry it but uncertain now. Actually the little loco could even be shorter but what's available?

As far as Walthers I've heard they were bought out by Bachman so I'm wondering what will transpire now as far as the selection of equipment from other sources?

Time for me to get something to eat and water the front yard so I'll talk with you later.

[Now lets see if the image will appear?] Probably not. Grrr

}} I'll be darn the image did post but not the attempt to turn the text Bold. Oh well, being able to post saved images is the main thing anyway.{{

Image info if it's of interest to any one? I took this using my China Android Cell Phone which has a 12Mp camera on it and then reduced the image size to a, 924 x 763 jpg and saved it to PB, if you want the actual photo info I can get that for you too.

David, can you share any info about this Kader purchase of Walthers? Or was that tongue-in-cheek?

Well I got the M. Munster residence programmed and a high old time I had of it too. It seems as a standard double wide trailer until the character gets inside. There's some of the funny parts of the Munster home in there. the kitchen is one. Grandpas bedroom is another and the sleeping quarters of one Edward Wolfgang Munster. But it's when the character searches the master bedroom that the character breaks the land speed record getting out of there. Seems there was this little thing with Herman sitting up in bed 'Excuse me young man, we'd like to have you for dinner.'. Somehow I think I would've left too! It wasn't a hard bit to program. Just thirteen blocks. But some blocks have up to ten lines of code and some variable lines of code. If a variable is set one way a certain set of lines are displayed and if the variable is set another way another set of lines is displayed. Some funny things are found too. A Vandergriff generator connected to a hair dryer (That'll curl your hair!). A large bucket of electric eels connected to a washing machine? Grandpas been at it again!

I was just browsing some N scale euro-train items on ebay. I'm blown away by how cool this stuff looks. Plus I might change my name to Wulf Gunnar Eisenbahn. Hee hee!

Hi Terry, It's not first hand info, but my friend John evidently heard or read it somewhere as he seem to be checking into many things realated to RR'ing. So I just don't know for certain and wondered what some of you guys might have heard or know?

Where or how does the name Kader enter into the picture? That's a new one on me. Although that also is a German sounding name and might be related to Walther's or Bachman.

Kader or Kader Industrial Company Ltd was found founded in Hong Kong in 1948 by Ting Hsiung Chao. and presently trades under the name of "Kader Holdings Company Limited". Bachmann Bros as it was known pre-1984 was having financial problems, falling profits and was unable to compete with Kader. Kader acquired Bachmann Bros in 1984 and changed the name to Bachmann Industries to draw in North American customers. As well as introducing their own brands to North America, Kader used the Bachmann brand to build itself up as the largest volume seller of model railways and purchased other failing companies, using the Bachmann name to front a series of purchases in the rest of the world to combat the then poor perceptions of Hong Kong based production quality.

I know nothing of this thing about Kader picking up Walthers. They picked up Sanda Kan but that was around five or six years ago.

As I said earlier, I got the M. Munster residence programmed in. Next will be a three room cottage nearby. The cottage, porch, front and back yards and lake and road frontage will consume eleven blocks of program space and will likely take half a day to type it all in. No CADs or scanners for that old Apple computer. Scanners were the new toy on the block back when the //e was on the market (01/83 to 11/93) and there was little or no support for such a device on the //e's logic board. I don't think it was ever made available for the //gs either.

Not much else went on today. My nurse came this afternoon and checked my foot out and said it's doing well.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Say Jeffrey,
Thanks for the info, that was a lot more than I was aware of.
I guess my friend John heard wrong then.

Say Karl, I'll have to say, every time I see your picture it makes me think your scared to death and yet I doubt that's the case?

Anyway, about the, Rivarossi 0-4-0, is it HO, does it have the Walcherts valve gear, have you had a chance to test run it and if so how does it run? Also what are you asking for it? As if I need another one.

Or is only going to be available on ebay?

David

Quite the opposite. My avatar is none other than Barnabas Collins, creature of the night, yet a gentleman. Kinda like me!

I'm not sure about this one yet. Somehow the smokebox door disappeared last night. It does run, but it locks up every so often. Something in the valve gear I'm sure. (Walscherts) I'll probably make a decision on it tonight, after I get its brethren on flea-bay. stay tuned~!

Thanks anyway Karl but I got all the F units I need for the moment anyway. They were an endangered species in my modeling era.

. . .
I think I'm finally getting the hang of these Fasttracks DIY turnouts. I was able to knock out my 3rd and 4th pieces in under 3 hours each. Could probably do it faster if I had all of the tools described in the video (like the miniature flexible files). I've started on the fifth one, which I hope to finish later today after work.

I think my home 'puter might be infected. I got the monthly email notification from Model Railroad Hobbyist that the latest issue of their e-zine is available; went to download it, and the same thing happened this time that did a few weeks ago: All this junk software installed itself on my machine. I went into Control Panel and uninstalled most of it, but there is still this obnoxious toolbar on Firefox that just won't go away (I started using Firefox again and it worked ok up until this latest incident). So I'm doing a Kaspersky full system scan.

Good morning. It's 61° with 100% humidity. The high will be 72° and feel like 75°.

Nothing much going on today. I'll get to work on Native Fury a little later. So far I have only a cottage planned but I may program in the house next door as well since it was here in the time period I'm using. While I'm using the basic description of homes that were then the room layout, their location in the community and their directional orientation differ. Some locations were here then, others weren't and some have never been. I'm using my own creative license.

On the mouse front, none of the traps were tripped and there was nothing stuck in the glue traps.

Been a while since I've posted here. Been real busy with work and other stuff. Had our first snowfall today!!!!!!!!!!!! At least nothing stuck here but it was a little different story in Iowa. Just got my camper moved to a part of the campground where water will be available this winter. Got heat tape and insulation on my water line last night and the temp got down to 23 degrees during the night........and I still had running water this morning when I got up to go to work! Must have done it right. Still need to build a frame work to put up foam insulation board for skirting to keep my tanks from freezing. First time spending time in cold weather in our RV. Did some research and am looking forward to the adventure, just not the cold weather! My wife and dogs (the Boys) are spending the week with me.......nice to have company. Hopefully, about two more months left until the Boilermakers part of the job is done, then on to the next one.

Might have a little time in December to work on getting things going on my CB&Q layout. Well, at least I hope so. Need to get back to the camper and leave this McDonald's to the kids that like to hang out here. Oh, to be young and carefree again!
