so im looking at it thinking SD-26CHRIS is that my son , hummm i start reading it then i realize it was lol , then again i should have known by the maximum overdrive avatar lol .I forgot he was registered on here & you think he would hit me up , but then again teenagers never make sense . Hes the one that got me into HO MTH now as you have read on his other threads , he hates them .got to admit im glad hes a trainfreak, he could be doing alot worse i suppose .

Yep, could be worse, at least him being on here and asking questions, gives the opportunity to reconnect (possibly). If he ignores you, you just shrug your shoulders and get on with life.

I just downloaded google chrome. It is about 5 times faster than internet explorer. ...

When I first got this laptop, I had to setup GMail in order to continue using my private mailbox. Windows [naturally!] configured it to use Internet Explorer as the browser. I used Chrome for all my other web activities. I noticed that when I was in GMail, IE would randomly crash and restart. At first it didn't bother me because it always went straight back to the page I was on. But one day I was composing a very long email message, and after 20 minutes of typing when I was close to the end, IE decided to pull its spontaneous restart trick. It did put me back on the original web page - but my unsent message was totally wiped out!

That's when I suddenly realized what a POS IE really is. I pointed my Gmail shortcut to Chrome and haven't had any trouble ever since!

I tried it once and had a lot of trouble, then I discovered my modem was faulty. Must try again.

I consider the IE of internet explorer to mean Internal Explosion. After version 7 it just became total crap that kept losing my tabs every two minutes (these tabs were lost and have been recovered).

No movie watching today though I did start on 'Raiders of The Lost Ark'. Worked on two locos, played a couple of games and that's about it. I was feeling too bad to do much of anything else. Hope I feel better tomorrow.

Nothing planned for today. I was extremely tired yesterday and try as I might I couldn't get any sleep at all. Finally got to sleep about 1:00 am and got about five hours. Better than nothing I guess. At least I feel much better this morning. I think later I might hunt around on Ebay for a couple of Athearn motors. I'm eventually going to need at least one. The F3 I was working on yesterday has a Jet 500 and while it is DCC compatible it takes more power than the more modern motors. Plus it won't hurt to have a skew wound motor in it. The old motors are fine at speed but become jerky at low speed due to cogging.

Can't believe I suffered that long with internet explorer. I thought my HP laptop was the problem. After two months or so with Goo-Chro......life is good!

Rain is coming down in buckets here in central MD - perfect for staying indoors and doing mrr if I didn't have to work!

While I'm glad that I finally got the proper hardware to run DecoderPro, I've encountered yet another brick wall: The system can't "read" any of my sound-equipped locos until I buy and install a PowerPax programming track booster. Now I know $60 may not seem like a large amount of money, but our checking account was dang near depleted from having to pay the balance of what we owed for daughter #2's college tuition, plus the mortgage. And SWMBO and I have promised each other that we would only use credit cards for emergency expenses (car repairs, etc.). So I'll have to wait until SWMBO gets her paycheck on Monday before I can even think about getting a PowerPax...let alone a replacement Mashima motor for my dead switcher.

I'd say this qualifies as an emergency Ken!!

Good afternoon,
The weather has finally cooled down out here so things are a lot more comfortable and I don't have all the watering to do.

Looks like I'll be headed over to Johns place to help him get at least one more Tortise installed and maybe four more?

Say Jeffrey: What was the fire all about I didn't look back at prior posts to try and find out? Hope it was nothing serious?

That's two different fires, both were training fires for the new guys. The first one was just big debris piles being burned. It was hot and dry so couldn't allow embers to fly and start fires elsewhere. The second fire was dual purpose. Train the firefighters on how to keep a fire from spreading from one structure to another and it was also getting rid of a health hazard. The house was infested with rats and there was a very real danger of a hantavirus outbreak. It's very difficult to see in the photo but everyone near the fire is wearing a filter mask.

Tomorrow my father and step mother will hit the road. They're going to drive all the way to Roswell, New Mexico. As my father says, 'It's cheaper than flying. A whole lot cheaper.'. Now the question is will they be speaking to each other by the time they get back?

Had to uninstall AVG this morning and do a new install. Then on restart the computer wouldn't do anything but sit there with a cursor blinking on an otherwise blank screen. Well either there was a bad connection inside the case or the CMOS settings had gotten fouled up somehow. So I checked the CMOS settings first. Sure enough the first boot device had somehow been changed from the hard drive to some kind of USB multi-link device. I set it back to hard drive, saved the changes and rebooted. All went well. Will it stay that way? We'll see in the morning. The CMOS battery may be getting weak. It's been in there for near to ten years now.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Cheap? Yes:). Easy to conceal? No:(. It attracted way too much attention last time:rolleyes:. A quick detour to Area 51 threw the UFO hunters off the trail. The Men in Black made sure any witnesses just saw a weather balloon.:cool: Almost got caught that time.:o
