Good morning folks

It was 52 F and little bit foggy this morning. Our high today will be 64 F!

Yesterday was pretty uneventful. My son had his Boy Scout troop meeting. They formed a new patrol and he is the new patrol leader.

I went down the basement and cleared the stuff away from the workbench. I even cleared off the non-train stuff from the workbench. Now I can finally sit down and work on it again.

Tonight is parent teacher conferences for my son.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning everyone.

We braved the freezing rain yesterday to make it to our doctors appointment in the Twin Cities. We had our IVF implantation so my wife is sort of pregnant. We'll know more on Dec 3rd if it stuck or not. Wish us luck.

I assembled and placed my Merchants row kits last night. They're not finished yet, but I had to see how they looked. I'm pretty excited about this after my first glimpse. It may end up as my favorite part of the layout.

My wife is on bed rest today so I'll be tooling around the house most of the day. I'm thinking I'll work on finding some interior shots for the buildings and signs for the outside.

Have a great day everyone.

Corey- I wish you the very best of luck and will keep you and your wife in our prayers. I hope this will be a very memoriable Thanksgiving for y'all!

About a 100 years ago, we were considering IVF after an examine to determine the extent of my wife's problem. All the poking and prodding allowed an egg to get through and we wound up with twin girls...plus three grandsons and two dogs. The SILs don't count!

I sure do miss Chris spending so much time working and enjoying the girlfriend.
I almost had to make one of his type comments to a newbie in the Scenery section.
C-liner asked for an "Alternate Adhesive" for securing a grass mat on his layout. I barely refrained from advising him to use the sticky substance my grandson produces when he sneezes! 'SNOT very effective once it drys, however.

Yes. I understand why I am banished from this forum for a week!

Mikey, with the Iron Bowl (Alabama vs. Auburn) only a few days away, it's time to get started:

What's a seven course meal at Auburn?
A possum and a six-pack.

What do they put on the bottoms of Coke bottles at Auburn?
Please open other end.

You're probably an Auburn fan if ...

... You can play the Auburn fight song using your armpit.
... Your wife's idea of cleaning house is throwing everything out into the yard.
... The Roto-Rooter man stops by your trailer and asks, "What's that smell?"
... You're a member of the Skoal Frequent Purchaser Program.
... You looked up your family tree and your uncle spit on you.
... You joined Alcoholics Anonymous so you can drink and use a different name.
... You looked out for #1 and stepped in #2 !!!
... (Love this one!) You won't buy a Japanese car because you're afraid you won't understand what they say on the radio.
... Your kids go to a private school and they won't tell you where it is.
... Your Granny beats you in the tobacky spittin' contests.

ROLL TIDE!

Mikey, thank you for your prayers. I don't think I've prayed this much in my entire life. We'll be on edge at least until Dec 3rd and hopefully until Aug.!:)

I think Chris has been hijacked by Facebook as much as his girlfriend. My Mother was obsessed with farmville for awhile. We darn near had to stage an intervention!:D

REX I heard from a reliable source that when looking at some of the bama cheerleaders U cannot tell which end is up.

Just to stir the pot:

Is it true that Auburn put in astroturf just to keep the cheerleaders from grazing at half time?:D:D:D

addendum:

Tom: congrats to your son on making Patrol Leader. That's always been regarded as the troop's recognition of leadership qualities and is quite an honour.

Rex,

(more unadulterated pot stirring here):eek::rolleyes:;)

Why you so head up about dis college football?? Oh, thats right, cuz it may be the only time you might see your mug on national TV screaming your guts out. Lets face it, Alabama is the 2nd most populous state in the union without a Major league franchise of any sort. No Pro football, baseball, hockey, basketball,,,,,,no nuttin......That is unless you wanna go to Talledega twice a year!!

Me, I'm givin up on the NFL.....IF I want to watch football (and I'm sure Mikey will agree with me), then I'm watching the LFL.

Thats right, the Lingerie Football League! 7 girls on each side in what amounts to bikini's and pads, playing tackle football!! Baltimore's team plays just under an hour away from here, plus it's carried on the local Comcast sports channels.......Now there football worth watching!! :D

Corey- Congrats!

I finalllllly found some Canadian Pacific AC4400s, and theyre downstairs, already test run :D. A pretty big moment for me, my first modern 6 axle diesels and my first Athearn locomotives, my favorite locomotives by far :D

I have from tommorow til monday off from school, tommorow looks pretty packed busy, but ill be sure to stop in to annoy the people here in the coffee shop :D

I have some questions about these locomotives:

How do I get the shell off of BB locomotives?

How do i remove the truck side frames?

Whats a good lube that id find around the house?

Thanks!

Karl that sounds like something that should be on the playboy channel. Quick where do I sign up to watch this travesty. LOL LOL LOL LOL

I have some questions about these locomotives:
I'll have to fire up the Wayback machine, it's been a while...
How do I get the shell off of BB locomotives?
Remove the couplers, and release the clips in the fuel tank.
How do i remove the truck side frames?
a small flathead screwdriver inserted between the truck and sideframe, and pry gently near the two pins on each sideframe to remove them.
Whats a good lube that id find around the house?

Thanks!
For an Athearn bluebox locomotive? Hmm, maybe sewing machine oil. I'd spend the extra $2.99 at the hobby shop for a small bottle of Labelle oil.

Larry: They have two ends??? :D:D

Andy: That's a keeper! Thanks, I may need all the help I can get.:D

Karl: That's because too many people are worn out from Saturday's. Actually, they do say that people wouldn't support a Pro football team because of the college games...personally, I think that is a crock:mad:. Basketball wouldn't have a chance, but baseball would make it. All we have are minor league baseball teams and they do well.

HEY CHRIS!
You getting pecked already?:D

Had 6 tacos and a small taco salad for dinner then went back to soldering more track joints. Murphy has been playing his part to the hilt. This or that being in the way, solder tip working loose, cord not long enough, new solder doesn't work quite as well as the old type, etc.

Thanks Terry! These will be getting some minor surgery tommorow morning. Id go to the Hobby Shop, except that its about 60miles away... :( I was surprised to find it had dual flywheels when i discovered how to take the shell off, i was expecting a can motor :o

PS, got your package out last weekend, ill PM you the delivery confirmation number.

Good afternoon guys, I see the Rivalry is off and running, 'Npi'.

It's been another wet cold day here and just let up a bit ago but will probab;y start-in again shortly? I estimate that we've had about 4 to 5" of rain.

Has anybody heard from Shawn Myers, he was active on the forum for a while then seemed to vanish? He was managing a golf course in the South somewhere?

Rex- I was sorry to hear about the 3 Bama cheerleaders who drowned when their pickup ran into the crick and they could not get the tailgate down.

Smile and keep an eye on the CAMERON!!

Say LF,
If you do order some Label oil or some from Woodland Scenics, very possibly the same, you might want to look for plastic compatiable just be on the safe side. Labelle oil came that way in the past so whoever you get it through you might want to check it out just to be safe. Labelle is quite an old company and very possibly supplies the other places with the different types of oil.

Use a lite oil or lite teflon grease for the wheel journalsd, both should be available from most places.

I had all this stuff available but lost my distributor when the owner died. Bummer for he and I.
