Hi guys
New here.
Missed the coffee shop for awhile.
>nods to Jeffrey<

Pretty sweet workbench Karl...if only I had ROOM for a workbench!

Went shopping for xmas presents.....yes ALREADY. Last year by the day after TG I was ALL done with Xmas shopping! This year will be too!

WEll Talk TO Y'ALL Later {TTYALLL8R}

Hey galaxy, I'm new here too. I'm not very good at prototypical cuz My son likes them shiny. I have rewired my locos so that the lights are always going in the same direction. no low speed dimming. It's real easy to do. That and you can use lm317t voltage controller and not to have to worry about that 1.2 volts moving around the wrong loco at the wrong time. Now that they have white LEDs I may have to upgrade again. lol:D

Good afternoon.

I got back earlier than I thought I would. Went to DeRidder for the appointment with my urologist only to find when I arrived there were doctors visits on my Medicaid until January. I wouldn't have minded knowing that sooner because then I could have rescheduled the appointment. It was too late yesterday to check and their office didn't open until after noon today. Drove back to Leesville and stopped in at Wal-Mart to get the second half of my grocery shopping done. After I came back out and loaded the groceries I noticed there was a Honda Odyssey parked to right of me and another one on the left/ These things must be popular because I see them all over the place. It's pretty big when it's next to the average car on the road now but next to my van they looked 2 almonds with a macadamia nut between them. To put it in shortly THEY looked small. And I could see right over both of them. On my out of the parking lot I saw a Ford 350 Superduty with an extended cab. Big is alive and well.

Darn Karl, do you actually work on that bench?

Yes Rex, I do!

One thing I transferred over to this bench from the last is a large piece of tempered glass. Great to work on (smooth & flat) stores instruction sheets safely underneath ( like who reads em?) and paint & glue spills on the glass come right up once dried with a razor blade.

Try it, you'le like it!!:D

Checking the tranny fluid on the van earlier today and got nicked by the radiator fan. No major damage. I'm going to have to see if I can relocate the dipstick tube a bit higher.

Good evening everyone.

Ever have one of those days where you want to grab the nearest customer or coworker and throw them through a plate glass window? Ya, me neither!;) I definitely haven't had one of those days.:) I'm just chillin' out with my good friend Mich Golden to settle me down.

No trains from me lately. I broke out my father in law's Lionel set from 1952. It's in tough shape but I thought I could get it to run. After stripping everything down to the motor and wheels I got it to run.....backwards. Something is stuck or corroded in the 'E' unit which controls the direction. I'm hoping to get it up and running by Christmas. I have a G scale Christmas train for the living room tree but I need one for the train room tree. This old Lionel would be perfect to race around the big tree in the train room. We'll see what I can do with this thing. If I can't get it to run I'll buy a different one on EBay since I've convinced myself that I need one!

Alright, a beer and some train talk and I'm not feeling homicidal.

Have a good night everyone.

Chances are the contact is stuck on the e unit. Most likely corroded from sitting a long time. If you get it apart, make sure you buff the contacts with a soft wire brush, like you'd find on the wire wheel for a Dremel tool. Don't use a file or sandpaper, it is too coarse and will cause arcing, pitting, and a stuck contact again. Good luck with it...

Good morning. It's 51 and sunny. The high will be 67.

I have the heater on low this morning just to take the chill off. We have cooler weather coming in so I have to go down to my parent's place later and drain the pool pump. I don't know of anything else outside that requires my attention so maybe I'll have a few hours to rub together so I can work on rerouting the layout wiring. Seems like every time I'm about to start something else comes up. Oh yeah, there is one more outside job. Put new antifreeze in the van. Should take about 10 minutes.

Good afternoon folks.

I thought today was going to go smoother than yesterday, Wrong! I had a bitchy bride on the phone and a vendor that screwed me for a wedding this weekend. Both issues are now somewhat under control. All we had to do was spend extra money to make everyone happy. Oh, and the vendor that screwed me will NEVER get another order from us. Too bad, the rep is a nice guy.

No trains for me until I get some time off from work. I could do a little at a time but this next project will be tedious. I need to start the brush painting of two Merchants Row kits. Some how I can't get up the nerve and patience until I have a day off to do it.

I think I'm going to just sit around at work and wait for the next fire. No sense in starting any new projects.

Have a good day everyone.

Evening Gang!

Today was a suckee day. I picked my son up from school and was heading home when WHAM out of nowhere came an 8 point white tail and we took him head on!:eek::eek:
Now my son and I are OK, but the truck isn't. Gonna need a new grill, hood, trans cooler, a/c condensor, core support, filler panel between the bumper and grill, and another one of them tractor trailer sized bumperguards. Plus there is a small dent in the right fender (hoof did it?)

This was the before pic.
You don't wanna see the after.
The deer made it about 40 ft into a field before it collapsed. I called the State Police to dispartch it, but before they arrived a local contractor stopped and asked if he could have the deer. As soon as I said yes he unloaded a really nasty looking bow from the back of his truck and sent the deer to Bambi heaven!
One lesson learned..those deer whistles don't work worth a damn! Shoulda spent the money on some more Kadee #5's!!
Just placed a call to my bodyman son,,,,he'll be up Saturday to commence repairs. :D Problem is, finding parts for a 22 year old truck that arn't rusted or beat up is gonna be fun!!!:(

Karl there are plenty of after market parts fer that there truck. That and the Chevy S10 have a lot of parts available at least the last time I looked at the catalogs at the automotive paint store I work they did.

I know what you mean. My vehicle is 30 years old. There are some parts, cosmetic mostly that I haven't been able to find in good shape. As for deer whistles not working, I had them on my last car for 9 years. Before I put them on them on I had run-ins with deer 3 or 4 times a week! After I put them on I only had 3 run-ins with them in a 9 year period. The thing about the whistles is they have to be mounted properly, kept clean (no dirt, no bugs) and if they show any sign of wear they must be replaced. My nephew uses them also. After he scored 5 deer in 2 months (2000) he felt it was a worthwhile investment. Since then he's only had a deer cross his path once. I feel for any deer that gets walloped by that truck of his. It has a huge crash bumper and brush guard on it that adds 2 feet to the front of the truck.

TerryI'd hate to think what UPS would charge to get the truck up here!! Thanks for the thought though!

Larry, J.C. Whitney was a no-go. The only grille they stock is black. Mine is an XLT, so it needs a chrome grille.:( Ebay has proved to be good for the hood and the grille, I found both pretty quickly and at a good price. The hardest thing will be the radiator core support, probly have to go junkyard with that. I hate doing it though. Rusty parts on a nice truck just aint right!
A/c condensor and the aux. trans cooler are going to be off the shelf stuff. We'll have to see what additionals stuff my son comes up with Saturday.:o

My wife's sister's ex-husband has a '90 BroncoII that he was trying to get rid of. He lives in Asheville, and the truck drives. I can ask if it's still available, and how much he wants for it. It is almost rust-free.
