College Football eh? I'd have to say I'm partial to Syracuse University, I've got a friend who plays defense for them. Other than that it's got to be OSU or Michigan State.

I dont know any Bama football players, but I do know a track runner from there.

Jeff, nice job on the DCC work.

Dave- no problem on the name goof up, iceberg called worse things than Carey :D As for the trains, the whole lot cost me $150 dollars, and it's money I've had set aside specifically for that lot.

Mikey- nice to have you back.

well the divorce is final today! I made it! Now on to picking up the rest of the pieces and moving on......

Good morning...

Good morning folks

It was 62 F when I left this morning. Our high will be 73 F.

I have not had a chance to get on the past few days. It has been crazy at home and work.

At work the Flood Projects as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have started as our maintenance people encounter damage that they cannot handle on their own. We have some pretty crazy deadlines on these. Of course we still have to get our regularly scheduled projects out at the same time.

On the sports front my daughter pulled a muscle in her back last Wednesday in her volleyball game and has been out since. She is hoping to play either tomorrow or Friday. She did not start in the first game last Wednesday. With the team down 1-14 the coach put her in. They lost the game 22-25. They were winning the second game when she went to hit the ball on a bad set which she got the point. She served and got an ace but felt something pull in her back and she had to come out of the game. Her team went onto to win the game. In the next game the momentum kept them going for a while but then the “old” team returned. They lead 17-11 and then collapsed losing 18-25. They lost the final game 9-25 thus losing the match. This was against a team that they should have beaten. In the next game against a better team they lost 9-25, 7-25, 6-25. Yesterday they won all three games and the match but the team they played was horrible. They had two varsity players and the rest of the team was JV fill-ins. They won but the games were a lot closer than they should have been and they got most of their points off of the other team’s bad serves and hits into the net. Tomorrow’s game is against one of the league’ perennial powerhouses. It could be ugly.

My son has decided against football and is playing soccer for the middle school. This is going to be real interesting since he has not played organized soccer since he was 6 or 7 years old. Right now the 8th grade tam has only 14 players and about half have never played before.

My son’s Boy Scout Troop is preparing for their trip to World’s End State Park this weekend. Tomorrow night he has a shakedown for backpacking. We are also getting ready for my daughter’s visit to Lycoming College Science Day on Saturday. She is hoping to also meet with the volleyball coach while we are there.

One of these days I will get some train stuff in.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning. It's 64° and mostly cloudy. The high will be 87° and the chance ofrain is 10%. The weather guesser can't decide if it will partly sunny or mostly sunny. But since when could the weatherman predict the weather much less the future.

I worked on the Model Power GP9 shell last night in an attempt to make it look better. In the end I put the old Hobbytown GP7 shell on the Model Power chassis and improved it greatly. The antique shell needed only a few small changes to make it fit. The Hobbytown drive and the Model Power drive have something in common, besides looking like toys. They're noisy! They both do the old Athearn blue box drive proud. The Hobbytown drive has a deeper tone while the Model Power drive has more tenor. The Model Power drive with the old Hobbytown shell on it puts out a loud Athearn type growl. I'll eventually put a decoder in it.

The boys at the Sundown shop have gotten their hands on a Union Pacific FP7. IT'S PATCH TIME! I hard wired a decoder into it yesterday and installed Kadee couplers. Now it's the shells turn to be assaulted.

In other DCC news I'll be putting a DCC plug on a Digitrax DZ125 decoder. Once that's done I'll it into my Atlas H24-66.

Good morning folks.

Chris, I've heard that marriages are like a hurricane. In the beginning there is a lot of sucking and blowing. In the end your house is gone!:D Sorry, old joke.:o

Tom, you need to take a "me" day and let the tribe fend for themselves!

Matt, that's crappy how you lost your job. I don't know if I could have dealt with that as well as you.

We got some much needed rain last night. I'm hoping it's enough to green up the grass before everything turns brown around here.

Today my wife and I celebrate eight years of wedded bliss! It feels like longer, but that's because we went on our first date seventeen years ago. I feel like an old pro I tell ya (as those that have been married 40 years chuckle)!:) We don't really have much planned for the day except going out to dinner. That's fine, I'm okay with no list of things to do. I'm hoping to clean her Explorer but that's it. We'll see if she comes up with something else for us to do!

That's all for now,
Have a great day everyone.

well the divorce is final today! I made it! Now on to picking up the rest of the pieces and moving on......

Chris- I have been told that a divorce is worse emotionally than the death of a close family member.

Because of your son, you will have to continue dealing with your EX.
BUT, this will be a step in the right direction to get on with you life.

Mikey: you are so right about the rest of Bama's season; certainly not N. Texas. This weekend will show if Bama has what they are suppose to have when we play Arkansas. Nothing can go wrong with Steve and me coaching the team:rolleyes::D. btw: who is it that Auburn plays this weekend....is that a community college? lol:D Yeah, I love college football season. ROLL TIDE!

Congrats Chris: knowing that a load is off your shoulders:).

'nother Congrats: To Corey and wife for their 8 year anniversary! Wishing you many more wonderful years.

Chris This is the start of your new life as a single man, hope it works for ya :D

Rex When do we start coaching ;)

Roll Tide

Corey Happy Anniversary

Rex- you are correct- it may be Tuscaloosa Community College!
Or someone similar.

I'm sure you've heard the saying about keeping your friends close--and your enemies closer.
That's one I've lived by for many years. I wanna know what the SOB is doing at all times! Makes it easy to smash his toes when he puts a foot wrong or parks his nose where it doesn't belong. One thing about us American Indians. You either have a friend for life or an enemy for life. Choose carefully.

Good morning. It's 66° and partly sunny. Still real bright despite the clouds. The high will be 88° and it will be cloudy with some sun.

Nothing special going on today. I may start work on a B&O bay window caboose but it's not what you think. The rear half will be rebuilt into an open-air redneck paradise with a fridge, grill and chairs. I'll also be creating new shortcuts to my favorite Windows applications and programs. The old ones were destroyed when I had to reinstall Windows a few days ago.

.......I attended a meeting of the club I got grief from, and from what I saw, most of the members seem pretty straight-up. There was one person that was kind of contrary, and had to be convinced of nearly everything discussed. ......
Sounds encouraging! I don't think that I have met anyone in this hobby that wasn't a little bit eccentric in one way or another (jeeze, if you only knew Carey ). I try to look beyond that and hope they will do me the same. The next thing is to look at how well they get along with each other and do they work as a team (club) or do they pull from opposite ends.;)

Thanx a lot there fellas!

Had to return to the eye doc the other day and needless to say, the news was very interesting. The eye infection I got, although better, still has a way to go, not unexpected news. The next news was that I have cataracts, and they are a lot worse than the Dr. first imagined. Out of my left eye, I see ghost images of what I'm looking at. Say I'm looking at an eye chart. I'm reading a line that is S A V Y. Just above that line is a ghost image of the same line! The Dr. asked if I had a problem with glare at night out of things like street lights, traffic lights etc. Yes I do. Seems that the cataracts are deteriorating faster than she expected, and said that the lenses that I am currently getting will in all probability be the last set of glasses I'll ever own. Within a year to 18 months, I'll have to have cataract surgery.

I knew my eyesight was deteriorating but I didn't know it was getting that bad. She also said it was also due to the persistence of this eye infection. If it is still in place in two weeks, I will be getting some IV antibiotics. Can't win for losing!

On the layout front, we got a lot of the ties laid for the section where the coal mine will go. Got several thousand more ties cut, and still have many more to cut. Esp ties for the turnouts. I have 12 turnouts to lay in this area alone. Most will be #5's but there are several custom slightly curved ones to lay as well. They'll be #6 to #8, and includes a crossover.

Due to the eyes, haven't been able to get any painting done on several cars and locos that I need to do. This is really frustrating as I can't see well enough with the infection to make sure the paint is going on like I want. I have several passenger cars, 6 locomotives, and a ton of freight cars that I need to get done. Several of these will be done with Alclad, and I have to see well to make these come out correct!

I also have a shay kit to build for myself and I don't want to tackle it until the infection is gone and I can see clearly.

I have a couple of PM-42's that I need to wire into the layout for short circuit protection and power districts, but I definitely can't see those little a** numbers/letters to make sure I'm doing it right. Magnification makes them even more fuzzy.

What's even more frustrating than my eyesight, is my webpage. I've been going around and around with my ISP provider about it. Seems my password to it for editing and such got lost in the system, and they can't seem to get it through their heads that the password has disappeared! What's even more frustrating is the people that are supposed to help you with this, can't! They can't even reset the password on their end so I can then change it, nor can they even delete the webpage so I can rebuild it with a new login and page space! I keep getting bounced between the commercial side of webpages and the personal side, but no one can seem to help with any of it!

Sorry about the rant, but it has become a real pain to try to maintain the webpage when the very people who are supposed to help you with the problems can't or won't!

Carey
Bummer about the eyesight man. But look at the bright side. Everyone I know who has had catarac surgery has wound up with better eyesight than before!:)
About the webpage, yes, my ISP offers free space, yet I chose to go with icd soft . For 6 bucks a month, I get 1000 Mb of web space, 24/7 tech support, unlimited email accounts, anti-virus, site builder and more. :D So what, I skip a Big Mac meal now and then....... Not like that would ever hurt me!:D

My Atlas H24-66 (Trainmaster) now has a DCC decoder, but it's not the one I thought I'd be using. Recently I traded three locos (two powered, one dummy) for four locos that needed work. Three needed motors, one needed trucks and one needed some minor repairs. Included with one of the locos was a Digitrax Z Scale, a 140 something, that worked in one direction only. I tried resetting it on the program track to no avail. It still worked in one direction only. I was going to cut the plug off it and solder a DZ125 to the plug. But I decided to try something first. If it didn't work I would have only wasted a few minutes. I plugged the decoder into my Atlas H24-66 and set it on the main and hit it with the reset code (CV8=08) in blast mode then programmed it as I normally would. I gave it a try and it works in both directions with the lights on or off. I'm thinking it must have been a program block or error of some kind. Now I STILL have a DZ125 to put in something else. I guess it'll be going into the Model Power GP9, or is that GP7 since it has an antique Athearn GP7 high hood body on it.

Afew monts back I couldn't read the traffic signs unless I was right up to them. Things wouldn't stay in focus, little blobs floating across my line of vision. Couldn't read the eyechart because the letters were alternately blanking out.dam dangerous driving. Yep cataracts. Got a new prescription for glasses (just a little stronger) that corrected the focus eyedrops and some good advice especially for dry eyes.
Before going to bed at night (important) using hot water wash all around the eye (eye closed) it supposidly opens the tear ducts, and it did mine. The eye drops are in the medicine cabinet didn't need them after 3 days, the floating spots are gone and the focus is still improving. Doc tole me do this and your eyes will thank you for it. Next appointment 2 years. Now folks, it seems before the new glasses and washing the eyes, he told me I couldn't meet the minimum requirements for a drivers license. Water isn't that expensive, give it a try you've nothing to lose.
Yes I still have cataracts (not bad enough for surgery) but some time in the future it will have to be done.
Cheers
Willis
