Just got back from the docs office. My physical went just fine, no surprises. I go back for another one in two months. Tuesday I have to go see the foot doc again.

Had enough adrenaline running at midnight last night to keep me tossing and turning for a couple hours and had to get up early as I had a repairman coming to fix the toilet flapper.

Like Jim, we are dry as a bone here. Sorry Jim, we got 40 seconds of rain yesterday...at least I thought it was rain

Had a few modeling friends over last night and had a real good time. The new yard is a success with smooth operations.
I figured out how to wire in the Lenz LS150 stationary decoder so I can have both manual and Loconet control. I did this at the yard's wye to make it easier on the Yardmaster. The Lenz has an AC output that you have to use diodes to get the DC for the Tortoises. I was leary of just putting 12VDC on the circuit so I just came off the 16VAC decoder supply to a momentary, DPDT, center off switch, and back to these diodes for 8 VDC, - and +. Works great! Now, I need to get the courage to install 5 more Tortoises in a different part of the layout and then I will finally get back to the scenery.
FYI: If you are unfamiliar with these decoders, they take care of 6 turnouts for ~$40 dollars. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of the DS64 (DS54), this is a good buy. They are very reliable and I have been using them for about 4 years.

Paul, have you tried those little "ant traps", the little black square thingys? I forget who makes them, but we have had pretty good luck with them. Down here, anytime it gets dry they start lining up to come indoors. At least the fire ants stay outside...man, those things hurt .

Spent The morning with Graduation Rehearsal. All went well........ Gremlins will probably start showing up a half hour before we start to cause all kinds of little glitches.

Chris, there are a few storms creeping our way so I'm hoping I won't just have to look at pictures of rain. It's 101 with a dew point of 64 and a cape value of -7, all which means there's no reason we shouldn't get rain. Hope those rats are belly up. Don't blame the governor for the local sheriff's department though. He's getting all his funding from local property and sales tax so the county board of supervisors is the problem. OTOH, sheriff's are always crying about being poor when they are really just lousy managers. Our sheriff wanted more money to cover paying the patrol deputies we already had while he was spending $3,000 a piece for cool new LED light bars. The ones we had worked perfectly fine but they weren't cool and cops like cool.
Tom, good luck on that Mather stock car. Maybe you should wait until you're out vacation recovery mode before you tackle one of those again. :eeK;
Paul, I must have missed your original posting about the rapist. I'm glad they finally got the right guy. You say he killed three women and he's in prison for life? No death penalty where he was convicted or what? If anyone sounds like he needs some rat poison, it's him.

Rex, I didn't actually time it, it was more like a guesstimate. It might have been as much as 45 seconds of rain...or really thick humidity. It wasn't enough to show up in the rain gauge no matter how long it lasted. I've got a couple of Tortoise machines I need to install for my crossing gates and have been putting it off because they look so intimidating. Maybe I'll screw up my courage and get to work on them. Sounds like the new yard is turning out to be exactly what you needed.
Ray, I hope glitches are small.
Steve, you've got to stop sending so much time on this R/C stuff. I can see the day coming where you'll have an entire armored division...and be dead broke.
Up early today to help number one move her stuff to her new apartment in downtown Montgomery. It's a nice place she can afford and only a block from the college. She's on the seventh floor so it was a lot of schlepping boxes up and down the elevator. We have to do all the furniture on Sunday when I can get my BIL's pickup and and extra pair of hands. I decided to finally be smart and rent a heavy duty movers dolly. Luckily, it's a studio apartment, so she doesn't have room for a lot of stuff, as she is now finding out. At least got most of the stuff moved before noon so it wasn't too hot - just 90 or so, which seems nice compared to now at 100 degrees with this humidity. Hope the rest of you have a good day.

Seeing $1.87 billion spent on a swamp so some special intrest group gets what they want while good hard working people with time vested and doing public service lost there jobs and others like me wait in limbo to see if we will still have a job this October It boils my blood Jim we need to do intervention and put Steve in a AA for RC!
Paul, to bad you weren't my neigbor I got some Tal-Star left in my truck that will wipe out your pesky ant's! 12 hrs and they would be out of your hair for good! Try amdro or termite insecticides that is the next best ant control. Florida is built on on big ant hill and the only three things I know for a fact that wipes out the worst of ants is Tal-Star, Amdro, and You also can try Termite insecticides that works too! I think my friend is dead with a bad tummy cramps, the rat got a good feeding LOL's

Eat'cha heart out, Jim. We just had a frog choking downpour for about 1 1/2 hours. Don't know how much we got since the airport has been offline and I haven't found a need the last couple of years to buy a rain gauge . Looks like you may get some out of Mississippi if it will hold together.

Good evening folks. It sounds like everyone is doing fairly well. I'm dragging my feet with starting my bench work. I'm a little overwhelmed with how much work it will take to get started. I just need a day off to get a good jump on cutting, painting, and staining the bench work. Once I get started I can do a little each day. I just find it amusing that I have all of this lumber in the garage and I'm not building anything yet. Summer time is not the best time to start an indoor project. My layout is going in a finished living room, so all of this work has to be done in the garage. Maybe I'll get a jump on it this Sunday.

Well I survived my dental procedure yesterday and haven't needed any more pain pills since last night. Glad that's behind me! Now it's time to resume my quest to finish installing decoders in every one of my active-era locos, so I can finally 'Digitize' my layout.
Jim, I went onto weather.com Friday ~6:30pm and zoomed-in on your town with the radar map, to see if maybe you'd get some of that MS rain. The rain clouds were still a few hundred miles away, so I figured I'd look again later. When I came back at 11:15, all the rain clouds were still in the same general area as 5 hours earlier! Geez, somebody musta put up a forcefield around Prattville...
Steve: So it's true - you really are selling off all your trains to buy more tanks! I agree with Chris, you need some serious intervention there, dude!
Chris - while I never condone unsafe behavior around grade crossings, sometimes the railroads deserve part of the blame. At the crossing near my house, the gates often malfunction and go down when there is no train anywhere within miles. People wait...and wait...and wait until finally, frustration takes over and they do the diagonal dash. This happens at least once a month. CSX has gotten many complaints about it, but so far the problem still happens.

I have survived the week! Sound went very well last night. This was a great class! 199 graduating Seniors, 133 will be attending collage next year. One of our Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship winners was presented a full tuition Scholarship to the local Community Collage by a local family through the Boys and Girls Club. The young lady's credentials are amazing. The high point of the evening for me was when a Hispanic boy who has studied ballet (and I believe will be majoring in dance), is a fine athlete, and a member of the Varsity Singers (top chorus) for 3 years crossed the stage to get his diploma. Half way across he did a hands free cartwheel jumping off his right foot and ending with a perfect landing on both feet. The audience went nuts!!!! This kid is also one of the friendliest, cheerful, and hard working kids I have ever been around. The Jazz ensemble dedicated their selection (awesome BTW) to Ms. Lucas who was the teacher who died in her school office last Wednesday (some info about her: http://www.senecafallscommunityband.org/). Her parents were at the graduation ceremony last night. All told a wonderful evening with a lot of pomp and even more just plain fun!
Today I think I will chill out inside since we seem to be getting that rain that you folks down South need.

Good morning folks
It is 82 F on its way to 88 F. The humidity is brutal today. It was bad when I got at 5:30 AM to let the dogs out and feed the cat. I went back to my air conditioned bed for a few hours.
The wife is a work, which meant I had to wake the bear, aka my son. He is one unpleasant person when he gets up in the morning.
My daughter and I are about to head out to the grocery store. My son will stay home with his grandfather, which means he gets to put away the groceries when we get home.
I hope everybody has a good day.
