Good afternoon folks

We just got back from marching with the Cub Scouts in a local 4th of July Parade. It was a short parade but everyone had fun. Given the condition of my foot it was just the right length. It was the first time our pack marched in a parade in 10 plus years. We had six scouts turnout, which is about a third of our boys. Since the 4th is on Friday many of our families are out of town.

It is 73 F right now with a high of 83 F. It heavily overcast with some showers. It is not a barbecue type day. I hope that it will not interfere with the fireworks tonight. We will head over to Collingdale like we do every year.

I am not sure what is on tap for the rest of the day. I guess we will make it up as we go along.

I hope everybody has a good day and a Happy 4th.

Damn steam train didn't show,,, not helping me much that isn't,,, but i did find a huge nest of field mice,,, lol there were dozens of them, i found them under a board in a field, they all ran off and within an hour a hawk was circling above ;) Nice

One door to fit then were done.

Just got Back!

Just got back from Fred Howard Park in Tarpon Springs, Florida!:D We all had a great swim including te Dogs! The water was in the low 80's clear water and plenty of Ocean life to look at! after we got back, I went to the store picked up some steaks and potatos for the grill tonight!:D :D While I wait for the coals to get hot........ Here's some beach Pic's!
1st pic, Sand Key! All the boats are lined up and waiting for low tide! at low tide a beach will appear before your eyes! they got the best seats for tonights fire works!
2nd pic,Me and the boy getting ready to go out for a look see!
3rd pic, Where's my sun screen?
4th pic, the plants i got for my tank!

CJ, good to see you again. You're lucky to be up where it's cooler. All my temps are from my weather station too and I've got the temperature sensor in a pretty good shelter so I'm confidant it's within a degree or so of being correct. That chrome CB&Q engine sounds like a real gem. I can't wait to see the pictures. Sorry about your friend. Seems as though this happens more and more as we grow old ourselves. :( BTW, did you see that TS Bertha has formed off Africa? It will never make it here but it might be a good sign for a little more active tropical storm season.

I'd like to see a nice tropical storm form up in the Gulf and parade right thru here. Would be nice. We haven't had any rain here at the house for about 2 weeks now. We're still under drought conditions but its better than last year.

I have some shots of the S4 in the camera. Just gotta download them to the comp and then I'll post them. Got a few others of the H8, but its not decaled yet. Sure is purty!:D

I was supposed to go to a Church camp early today to do some work with the staff. Wifey is chief counselor there and she called this am and said to wait until tonight. The only building with AC has it on the fritz and she didn't think I could tolerate the heat. I ain't gonna argue.

Looking nice and chilled out there Chris, swap you for a bit of cold damp rain, bet Carey would do ;)

Carey How Ya'll doing, good to see you up and about again.

PERSONAL NOTE
This 4th went well until last night my neigbors 20year old boy shot my wifes car with a morter shell:mad: Lucky we were all outside watching the mayhem in the hood, or he might not tell us he did it. It was way to dark to see if any real damage was done but at first light I will! Some people are as dumb as a bag of hammers. he could just as easily hit one of us on the front lawn:eek: .........this neigbor is lucky I didn't call the law morters are against the law down here!!!!!

Other than that we had a great time. Going to the beach was the best part next to the steak, baked taters, and Beer we had for dinner!:D I hope the rest of you had a SAFE and FUN time last night!

I'm going to get ready to mow some lawns today at 8am.........got 3 of them to do should get done around noonish! have a good day Guys!

Steve Thanks Steve! I was chillled, any time I got my snorkling gear on I'm at peace!:D :D :D when you get to NZ your weather should change and enjoy some beach time! "Just watch out for the great whites and saltwater crocs!":D

EDIT: No damage to wifes car, Neigbor kid got lucky!!!!!!

Hey Tompm, you just described my area to a tee, going to collingdale for fireworks for one. Are you in Delaware County PA? I'm in Springfield.

Chris the biggest thing to watch for is jellie fish, sharks not a problem were we are going,,, and thankfully no crocs, but my sisters off to north Queensland and they have plenty, and snakes, and spiders and jellie fish and flying things that bite, not for me thank you.

I was just down watching one of my neighbor's kids fishing. He caught three catfish in the nine to twelve inch range and four others in the 6ix to eight inch range. He also caught a bunch of snapping turtles, which he threw back. Fishing holds no interest to me personally but I sometimes enjoy watching others doing it.

Just remember if it bites..........Bite back twice as hard!:D

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a safe and good Independance Day. We had a house full with great fun and lots of goods eats. The wife got smart this year and baked the Boston Butt roasts in the oven and then I smoked the "pulled pork" in the smoker for a couple of hours. That way I didn't have to nurse the cooking half the night and day while everyone else was having fun. Of course, all the small stuff like sausages, burgers, etc. were cooked as usual.

Steve: Sorry I forgot to invite you over for some good Southern BBQ. We are liberal enough to allow the British at our July 4th celebrations. :D:D

Chris: I sure envy you being on the coast and taking a dip almost at will. BTW: Don't forget the sun blocker on that cue ball. :D

Jim: We are getting some good rain up here. I'm like Carey in thinking you must be in one heck of a hot box. We have had one day in 100's, but most have been mid 90's. I've notice that Maxwell AFB is usually lower than than your home readings. I usually go by our airport reading as it is only 1 mile away.

Afternoon, everyone.

Tom, sounds like you and the scouts had a good time at the parade.

Steve, too bad about the steam train...and I guess too bad for the field mice too. :)

Jeffrey, I'm no good at fishing either and I'd throw those snapping turtles back in really, really fast.

Chris, that water looks great. We're going down to Destin the first week in August and I can't wait to get back in the water again. The tank looks good with the new plants.

CJ, I forgot to comment on the S4 in the WPF thread. That thing came out great! Must have been some heavy duty work to get that back to the original finish. Are you planning on selling it on e-bay? I would imagine it's worth a pretty penny. Have you been watching Bertha? Looks like she's a little more robust than the computer models thought. No sign of her taking that northerly turn yet and it looks like she could become a Cat 1 by Tuesday. I think the wind shear will get her before she's able to make to the mainland but, if she holds together, the folks in the Carolina's may have something to keep an eye on.

Went down to the football stadium to watch the town fireworks and then came back and blew up about 30 pounds of assorted explosives. Chris, sounds like those kids if your neighborhood need some supervision. I'm glad your car didn't get hurt. It's not fireworks that are the problem, it's adults not supervising kids that cause injuries. It's still blazing hot here. Nothing like sitting on concrete seats that are about 100 degrees from the day's heat and watching fireworks. We've got thunderstorms to the east and west but nothing for us yet. I can only hope, since the lawn is starting to resume its desert camouflage colors again.

Edit: Rex, glad to hear you're getting some of the rain. Looks like you've got some around T-Town right now. Our official temperatures are out of Maxwell AFB, which is about 10 air miles from the house. I'm on top of a ridge and about 350' higher than Montgomery. For some reason, the elevation and topography here leads to higher temperatures in the summer but not as cold temperatures in the winter. I know my temperature sensor is well shielded so it can't be more than a degree or two off what the weather service would use in the same location. I'm just lucky, I guess. :)

Jim;

Yeah, been watching Bertha. Some up here say its gonna hit the Carolinas. I don't think so.

Wish I could sell it but I think the owner would be pissed!:p
It belongs to our local "oddball" modeler, Scott. For some reason the boy models one of them Yankee railroads! :D:D
I've done several other locos for him. He's a very good modeler, just not comfortable with rebuilding/restoring a several hundred dollar loco!;) I had to contact one of my "resource people" up here to find a chemical tarnish remover. All the commercial chemical removers have, "Do Not Use On Chrome!" warning. One phone call, and within the hr. had a chemical that worked.

Here's a pic of a Nickel Plate Car Sides, Burlington diner kit that he recently finished. Like I said, good modeler.:D

Rex Jim We had a BBQ over here yesterday after i did the doors, not a clue when the 6201 steamed through but she did ???. Should have gone to church for the annual walk of faith today with the children but rain and the threat of thunder stopped the event, it was not to be. So,,,, i rebuilt the tank Mantlet which was wrong, thats the barrel mount, on the Tiger 1 by heng long it's 180 degrees out of line, so you flip it over, not as easy as it sounds as the barrel is off set to one side, bit of drilling and stuff involved but it's done. I also threw away the stupid bb gun, i plan on installing a recoiling unit onto the barrel which is quite a job but well worth it.

Carey How yall doing, fancy a brew

later

I've just been informed that I must attend a BBQ this evening. It starts at 5:45. I couldn't get any more information than that. With my birthday coming up in two days this sounds somewhat suspicious.
