How about a laugh for this day. ;) :)

A minister was completing a Temperance sermon. With great emphasis he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."

With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."

And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."

Sermon complete, he sat down.

The song leader stood very cautiously and announced with a smile, nearly laughing, "For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365, "Shall We Gather at the River."

Rex, that's a pretty funny joke! How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it!

Greetings folks. I haven't stopped by for a while. I've been reading your posts, I just don't have much to say.

I have been planning how I will execute my quasi dream layout. I say quasi because it's actually a fairly conservative size. I am going to model the downtown rail corridor of Mankato Minnesota during the 50's. This will include a large passenger depot, small yard, team track, a few rail served industries, and a large grain terminal. I am also attempting to add elements of a business district named Front street. This was the main drag downtown.

To achieve a certain amount of credibility, I will need to use two of my four wall sections to model Mankato. My inspiration for this project was a trestle outside of my hometown, so I have to use a third section for that element. The one thing I'm losing is open rural running. Oh well, I'm more excited to do downtown than the rural area anyway.

Anyway, I just thought I'd fill you guys in on what I'm doing. I hope there aren't any more accidents in your lives. You have me worried! Have a nice day!

Good morning folks

It was 24 F as I rolled off to work. High today is supposed to be around 44 F.

We had a busy weekend with the usual bi-weekly grocery shopping extravaganza. We also took some of our Cub Scouts into Philadelphia to see the Chinese New Year Celebration at the University Of Penn Museum Of Anthropology. The highlight of the day was the Lion Dance. Sunday we worked on my son’s pinewood derby car. My daughter also had her first basketball game.

No modeling this weekend.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning Bill & Tom ! ANother beautiful day here on the Niagara Frontier , High of 38 and lots of clouds. Nothing much to do clean up a bit and take out the garbage. Life is so interesting. Hope all have a real nice day !!!

Mornin' Bill!

Mornin' Tom! Good to see you enjoying Cub Scouts. I'll have to dig out some of my son's Pinewood Derby cars from the 1970's and post a photo. Lot of great memories attached to them.

Mornin' Paul! We're getting what what you got two hours ago........

Good morning folks. Four more days and I'm officially unemployed! It's not as bad as it sounds. I haven't been paid in two years, now I just won't have to work for free! My family members are lining up to have home remodeling projects completed. Some how, some way, I've taught myself how to do most of the things they want done. I'm actually looking forward to doing some mindless work. I may even get paid!

Now I just have to find a way to get some modeling done in the mean time. My wife is funny, if I buy official 'modeling' merchandise, see squawks. If I buy say, 1x6's, 2x2's, and maybe some pink foam, she doesn't say much at all! It's all in the terminology.

I'm pretty sure I have a job lined up when I move. I called an old friend who works at a very high end, men's store in the Suburbs of Minneapolis. He informed me of the funny coincidence that he just became the store manager after all of these years. He also informed me that they may be looking for a new employee at the exact time I move up there! Funny how that works. ;) We won't be able to live in the town that the store is in. That neighborhood is reserved for Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves players. Oh, and the other rich folk who want to live in ridiculously priced homes.

Isn't it funny about the "close a door, He opens a window" saying! I hope everyone has a great day!

Afternoon all

had a major LPG leak today at work, rang the works emergency number and they told me it wasn't an emergency and cut me off,,, i then went over there heads and called the top man who got the fire department in pronto,,, dumbass security guards we have got.

Afternoon, everyone.

Jeffrey, it's 64 here right now so maybe you will get to 66. Looks like we could be in for some severe weather over the next four days or so.

Tom, sounds like you had a good time. Now you have to beat back all the citizens who want to lynch you. :)

Corey, good luck with that job prospect. I never had one job end where I didn't end up in a better job and I'm sure getting a real paycheck will be nice. I imagine, with good planning, you can have enough lumber left over from those remodeling projects to build your new layout.

Steve, that's amazing that somone would consider a major LPG leak as not an emergency. I'm sure the fire brigade thought otherewise.

Paul, above freezing up there has to be a good day. What interesting lives we retired guys lead. :)

Rex, I'll have to show your joke to our preacher. There is a river nt far from the church....:)

Beautiful, sunny day here for the first time in about two weeks. Looks like some storms will be developing starting tomorrow that will bear watching. I'm hoping we just get some more rain, which we still need desperately.

Good morning folks

It was 30 F as I left the driveway. There was a light mist at times on the way in. The temperature was fluctuating between 30 F and 33 F so I was a little nervous about the possibility of hitting an icy patch but the roads stayed clear. Now I just noticed the NWS has posted a Freezing Rain Advisory for all the counties around us except Philadelphia and Delaware. The heavier rain is supposed to come in later tonight. Expected high is 47 F.

No modeling last night.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning Bill , Phillip & Tom , looks like a pretty good day here ,going up to 47 and then the big wind comes in and down the temps. will go . Have to get my daughter's car over to the repair shop for som maintenance I'm the officuil gofer,Corey good luck with the job prospects. Steve how bad was the propane leak ? Hpoe they got it fixed. Jim I'll be down in the warmth in a couple months when I don't need it . Well gotta get going . Hope you all have a great day !!

Morning, Bill, Phillip, Tom, and Paul. Up early today, running my daughter to work and then having to get an estimate for the damage to my other daughters car after it rammed in the HS parking lot. It's not as bad as I though, only about $700, so now I'm waiting on State Farm to take liability for the accident. State Farm is a great bunch. You're in good hands but they ony have one finger left. :)

Phillip, I think there should be a federal law that allows retired guys to take two hour naps every day with harsh penalities on the wife if she plans anything related to work during nap time. I think that would solve 90% of the world's problems. :D

Tom, watch out for that ice. Driving in snow never bothered my but driving on ice always scares the bejeezus out of me.

Paul, sounds like typical weather up thre - hang around a few hours and it will change, usually drastically. Where are you headed in a few months that will be warm? Alabama would be a good destination. We'll be back up into the 90's by the end of April.

Pretty good front headed our way but the southern end appears to be falling apart so I don't think this will do much for us. The storm that looks to be developing for Thursday and Friday looks a lot more potent and we are about to head into tornado season again down here.

Good morning.
