Good morning.

Went to see the foot doctor yesterday afternoon. He says my foot is looking good and to keep up what I'm doing. Now it's 100 units (1 cc).

after all the noise and rumble, not even a drop of water fell :S till late afternoon.

Man! I've been out of the loop for a few days. Between people at work getting silly and making up goofy new rules (like I can't cruise the internet while I'm doing other things that are work related because appearently some folks can't multitask and so if they can't do it, no one can......but I'm not upset!) and my daughter turning her car into a pretzel I've got so catch up reading to do!

Yeah, you read right....My little girl had her first accident. She's fine and so is the other guy, but the car is history. She slid on some ice ended up running her front end down the side of some guys pickup truck. I'm quite sure she wasn't speeding as where she lost control and where the car ended up weren't that far apart and it's a 45mph area. It was just one of those deals where it was an icy spot where the road comes up over a knoll and curves at the same time, and she just misjudged it. It's a pretty easy mistake to make right there for anyone, but she's still a rookie. She's been driving for just over a year. I'm just glad everyone was OK. She's got a couple of bruises and some sore muscles, but I think her ego took the biggest beating.

Yeah, the world will forever be deprived of this masterpiece on wheels!

Oh well, I'm going to go back a few pages and catch up on whatever it is I've been missing!

Bummer news about the car and job, Ken. I have felt that sickening feeling of uncertainty about the job before and it stresses the H out of you. I certainly hope the tomorrows will look brighter for you.;) :)

Good morning folks

It was 25 F as I rolled down the road this morning. Our high is supposed to be 37 F and we could get some snow showers.

No modeling last night as we had Cub Scouts. Tonight maybe my best chance.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Mornin' Bill & Tom ! Just another typical day here on the Niagara Frontier . 16 with a high around 20 with a little Lake Effect Snow, Maxi that looks awesome . How was the rumble ? Phillip that's the pits about the daughter's car . I can remember when mine had her first accident . She was driving a Chevy metro in a home coming parade .She just got her license and I din't want her in it with a bunch of other rookie drivers. But we relented and sure enpough the girl behind her smacked her car and then my daughter was driven into the car in front . It was one mess but at least no one was hurt . Jeffrey glad to hear the foot is doing better . My doctor has me on 43 units of insulin . It's a bummer but at least life goes on . Well gotta go do some snow shoveling so you all have a nice day !!

Another chilly morning in Denver. It was 10 when I left for work at 5:30. S'posed to get to 40 by this afternoon. Hopefully it will melt some of the ice in the parking lot...nasty stuff.
I get to leave work early today...WAHOO! I have to finish registering for classes at the U of Phoenix. I will be so glad when I am done with school for a while. I should have finished years ago, but, oh well...live and learn.
I hope y'all have a terrific Thursday!

Sandy

Mornin' Everyone!

Just popin in to say hi. Waiting for the appliance place to bring me a new Energy Star compliant refrigerator to replace the very power hungry 1988 monstrosity I have. I am going going to give the old one to a camp that will use it for a few weeks in the summer and use to replace one that is even worse.

I went over to the local college last night to a reception at the College Presidents home for a Black Women's Gospel Choir from Rochester that performed at the College Chapel. All part of MLK Week here. They Were FANTASTIC!

Gotta go frig is here!

I do enjoy that Waitress, know's my pick's of the day like the back of her hand! Here in Willmar MN it is 3 degrees (OMG HEAT WAVE!!!) Completely sunny with a forecast of lowering temeratures over the weekend. Keep them Diesel Engines warm and the Steamers a boilin' We don't want no freeze over now do we?

Afternoon, everyone.

Boy, it sounds like accident central here. First my daughter, then Ken, then Phillip. On top of that, my nephew was in accident Tuesday not and got arilifted to the hospital. After calming my paniced wife and daughter (they love to swoon down here before they know if anything is seriously wrong) and telling them that being airlifted doesn't mean dead, we got to see hm at hospital. He had a fracture just above his wrist and a nice long gash on the front of his forehead. His moronic girlfriend turned left right into the path of an 18 wheeler. Luckily, it was a slow speed accident because she failed to yeild when she ost the green arrow. She's 16 and this is her third at-fault accident. I'm not convinced that letting kids drive at 16 is a good idea in any case but she should have had her license suspended by now...except we're in Alabama, where they don't issue citations, they let the insurance companies battle it out instead. As long as you're not drunk, you can get in as many accidents as you want here and never get a citation.

Jeffrey, glad to hear your insulin and foot wound is still doing OK. Paul, I hope you can keep you insuling consumption down. Not too many waffles with lots of syrup for you today. :)

Maxi, great picture of that thunderstorm. We get them like that down her in Alabama on occasion too.

Sandy, I hate any place where my hand sricks tothe car handle when I grab it in the morning.

Ray, you'll be amazed at how much that new fridge will save you in electricity. Forget CFL's - if we could find a way to subsidize swappng out old refrigerators for new ones, then we could save a real hunk of electricity in the country.

It's cloudy and cold here with a temperature of 40 degrees and few light showers. This is the type of day that makes me want to crawl back in bed. I did get my farmer's market and newsstand installed yesterday and got a radio antenna on the courthouse roof so Sheriff Herbie can talk to the boys in the field better. :D

Hey Jim!

Well I have done both. I decided to get the Energy Star last fall after checking out my electric usage from 2006 and 2007/ In August of 2006 my big old airconditioner decided to die. I replaced it near the end of the month after it had its final death throws....... In August of 06 I used over 1200 Kwh of electricity. In August of 2007 I used around 990 and used the airconditioner more. Since then I have shaved over 120 Kwhs off my usage each month by just turning off stuff that didn't need to be on or were already off but still drawing power (TV, VCR, DVD player and a host of other things. According to the published charts the new one will only take 1/3 of the power that the old one did at a savings of about $125 per year at current electric prices. :D (I should mention that August is the high month and that this time of year my house uses less than 500 Kwhs per month.)

"Sandy, I hate any place where my hand sricks tothe car handle when I grab it in the morning."

Jim...I am enjoying this weather! Sorta. I lived in North Carolina for the past 2 years and NEVER could get used to the humidity. It was like taking a wool blanket, soaking it in water, heating it in the microwave until it is steaming and then completely wrapping up in it! So...I am willing to trade negative temps for drier heat!

Last year I came home to Colorado for Christmas for a month and we had well over two feet of snow. When I returned to school, a professor was ranting about global warming. I told him I had just shoveled almost three feet of 'global warming'. That shut him up...only briefly, I'm sorry to say!

I have only been in Alabama a few times and usually just passing through. Several years ago I was visiting my brother in Columbus MS and left there to drive to Ft Valley GA. I got hopelessly lost crossing three states. Took me 10 hours to drive about 300 miles. UGH! On the way back I knew I was okay when I got to Tuscaloosa. I was almost home! God bless Tuscaloosa!!

Sandy

Blimey, take it easy you guys,,, no more accidents this week.

Anthony I think the coldest night i spent with a steam loco was -14 about seven years back, stayed with it from 2am, gradually working the fire up (and warmimg the oil) for the 7.30am start, i remember the blowdown pipe froze solid, had to get the oxyacetelene torch out to warm it up, what a mess when she opened up, ash and soot shot up all over everyone from the yard floor, we looked like we had been to an Al jolson convention, good fun though if a bit chilly.

Josh BTW, don't take a day off josh, it'll take ages to catch up :p

BTW,,, the decorators are waiting to come into the coffeeshop, we must be almost ready to move into the new cafe soon, were almost upto the big 1000 posts,,, again

Well, thank you Sandy!;) :D

Hi guys and gals, nothing going on in my direction. I am still studying and experimenting with Railroad & Co. software and trying to put a plan together to control my signals. This software is so huge and versatile it will take a while just to get the "big picture". Fortunately, it is so user friendly I can try out many different methods without too much of a brain strain:D .

HOLY what a night!

1. Aircraft looses all hydraulic power taxing into fuel pits, ends up parked on top of an electrical transformer, and an outhouse.

2. Helicopter rotors were turned during fueling, hitting a ladder on the fuel truck, destroying the blade.

3. I end up dispatching fuel trucks, and answering all the pestering phone calls, "are we still fueling?"
