Disaster :S

Hi gang,

It's a gorgeous day here in central Md as in other parts of the country. But am I out there taking advantage of it? Noooooo....! I've been surfing the net for info on cement plant operations, since I'm planning to replace my coal mine with the WKW Valley Cement plant. I got a 'dispensation' from the CFO to order 16 cement hoppers (8 PS2's + 8 ACF's) immediately, since MB Klein has them on sale at !30% off of their already-low price - meaning I'll get them at half of MSRP! :D So I'm pretty psyched-up about that right now.

Of course, I still need to continue wiring my staging yard - especially since that will be the new 'source' of coal for my coke ovens. (Electrical work is something I could keep putting off indefinitely if possible...)

Morning all!

Another beautiful day in Alabama! It is suppose to be a little cooler than yesterday. Yesterday afternoon was a great time taking pictures with Eric (Grandeman) and LGM. Can't wait until he gets his pictures posted. I have posted some more teaser shots.

Eric is definately more fussy about his photography than I am. He kept wanting the sun to move to a better postion to light his shots.:p

Have a great day and stay tuned for more of Eric, LGM and my adventure yesterday.

Glenn

I'm jealous!!;)

I'd love to go on one of Eric's "trips" but right now I can't stand for too long and definitely can't walk any distance.

Been working on cleaning up my workbench some so I can at least see the top of it. Yall'd be surprised how much "stuff" accumulates on a flat surface over two months when ya can't get to it to work there.

CareyI know what you mean. If I do not go into the wood shop or train room for a month I am amazed at how much stuff migrated from other places. My wife thinks that if she does not have a place to store it or does not want to get the attic stairs down my areas are automatic storage bins.

Go to church, mow the lawn, and throw in a heavy dose of napping, that's my day today! Oh yeah, gotta get the kitty door installed!

Supposed to be in the low to mid 80's today, with plenty of sunshine on tap! I'm down with that!

Good Morning Bill, Phillip & Jeffrey ! Just a quick hello , gotta get to church for a babtismal so a cup of coffee and off I go .Have a nice day all !!!

Morning all,

Just a quiet Sunday around here, wife + girls went to an event called the Renaissance Festival, I have the day to myself - so I plan to make the most of it. Will continue wiring the staging yard tracks, probably won't finish though.

Have a great day everyone!

Afternoon all,
Carey hang in there fella, you'll be up and at em soon, take it easy while you can.
Ken L thats a great deal you got with the hoppers, that day out looks great, were on a mediaval banquet at christmas (holiday) time.

sacked AOL telephone service today, C-R-A-P is an understatement, sick of talking to india'n call centres who can't talk english, anyway finished with em, not been able to use the phone for over a week... rant over

also started to dismantle and burn all the scrap and off cuts of wood from the garage, can't take them to NZ without treatment, cheaper to buy new when we get there.

I now have a DCC equipped Athearn GP50 running on my layout. My neighbors son traded me his GP50 for my RS3 SP Black Widow. I wasted no time sticking a NCE Silent Running decoder in the GP50. Here's some pics taken during the conversion and a video showing the testing being done afterwards.

Jeffrey, if I can make a suggestion on the dcc install: Try not to put the decoder on top of the motor as it can get transfer heat from the motor and get damaged, and leave the component side of the decoder open to let it breathe. If you would use double sided tape and tape it to the inside top of the shell, and run the wiring down to the motor/frame, it works better on the athearn units, The athearn blue box units tend to "growl" which is the motor vibrating and being amplified by the shell. I'm not critisizing your work, just making a suggestion to keep you from wondering why the decoder went bad, been there, done that, lost a couple of expensive sound decoders that way.

Good morning folks

The temperature was 58 F this morning as I rolled out of the drive. We are expecting a high of 76 F. we are supposed to have a very mild and pleasant week. However, there is no rain in the forecast. We really need rain as everything is super dry. My son played his football game on Saturday in a dust bowl. Every play ended in a cloud of dust.

This special report just in. On Sunday Hell froze over. The apparent cause of this event was the fact that the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs won their divisions. Rumor has it that the last time this happened was in 1980 when the Phillies won the World Series. Of course everything was thawed by the evening as the Philadelphia Eagles stunk up the Meadowlands. Yes it is tough being a Philly sports fan.

My son’s football team played the best game of season so far. They actually played as a team. Unfortunately for them they could not catch a break and lost 13-0 to the Ridley Park Parkers Midget JV. The defense gave up a touchdown on the first drive and then held the Parkers for the rest of the game including stopping drives three times inside the 10. The Parkers second touchdown came on fumble in the end zone in the waning moments of the game. After the game we took my daughter out for diner on her 12th birthday.

No modeling got done on the layout or workbench. I did, however, pretty much finish the tree planting and foliage on the museum diorama. I also cleaned up a few things on the layout.

I hope everybody has a good day.

How's everyone doin' this mornin'?

Bit of a wet one here today so far. Weather guesser is calling for 78 degrees and spotty showers ending later this afternoon. Right now it looks like this........

Well, another weekend gone and I didn't get to work on the layout. Gotta make that a higher priority!

I did take the wife and my son up to visit my parents yesterday though. Dad's health is not so hot, so I've been trying to drive up to see them or at least call and see how they're getting along every week or so.

So whats up with all of you?

I thought I saw that!
