It's a Sulzer powered class 47 and they don't sound anything like a datsun in real life,,, they are monsters, you have to shout at the top of your voice when your stood next to one to stand any chance of being heard, the best UK diesel loco ever built in the last 45 years in my book, class 47 growling :D

We just got in from watching the 6201 steam through in the pouring rain, LOL were wet, but it was worth it

Sounds good to me Steve, boy it's got some pickup.

Will it run on DC ok?

Hows the US-UK rolling stock replacement programme going?
Ken.

Too stupid to grasp DCC

Hi gang,

As far as my going DCC, doesn't look like that was meant to happen. I replaced all the batteries, got a "real" 5-amp power supply, hooked everything up to a test track, and - the throttle isn't showing what the manual says it's supposed to be showing! And when I try to read the manual, I don't have a clue what all the techno-garbage means - I'm not a frigging electrical engineer, guess that's what you have to be to operate one of these things!:mad:

I've had enough, I'm staying with DC!:(

ken Don't give up yet I have had my Super Empire Builder for over 2 years and it is still not hooked up. I got frustrated also and just walked away form it and worked on other parts of the RR. I will get back to it before long. All of the techno garbage is frustrating I know but the pluses far out weigh the minuses. I have a couple of friends that are going to come over and help me after we through our Regional NMRA Convention the 3rd weekend of April. All I need is for someone to give me direction to start the rewiring from DC to DCC. The one thing I do know is I need more track feeders and a larger buss wire.

Not exactly saying they sound like Dastuns, it just reminds me of how my Grandpa's Datson sounded, lol but it was more of Put-gurgle-put-gurgle-put-put BANG!...

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend is going well.
I finally finished the carpet in the boat and it sure looks better. Now, to cough up $87 for new starting battery and I should be ready to go fishing. Thank goodness the trolling motor battery is ok...that would be big bucks. (All the while I keep thinking about what I could buy for the layout instead of the boat:( )

I believe that I have finally reached a design for my Steel Mill. I hope to post it on my thread later this weekend. Nothing fancy...but it should look ok with a lot of imagination;) :D :D .

KenL: WHAT!:eek: You can't give up fellow. Besides "Plug & Play", "Plug & Play". Right? Seriously, what happened?

Steve: I like the clunkety clunk of the 47. I guess that is why I love to run my FA with a Soundtraxx DSD150. They were known for their clunky, rattling sound, as well as throwing up a plume of smoke when they took off. I believe the C47 and the FA together would cause an earthquake.:D

George: That had to be bone freezing way up there. I had a friend that worked steel on the Sears Tower. He said the wind and cold was miserable all the time. One guy he knew got blown into the safety net when the wind caught the plywood he just picked up.

It's COLD! COLD! COLD! One of my partners got frost bite 3 weeks ago and they say he may never be back. He 's 61 so he'll most likely retire. I'll be 61 in April. I'm not sure if I can do another winter, but I may have to because my health insurance will run out before I'm 65 if I don't.

Hi yall! Been a rough weekend here. Finally got my son to open up about losing his friend and some other stress he's been under.

He wants to be an actor and has actually done several independent movies filmed in and around B'ham. One just premiered at a film festival to outstanding reviews and we all hope that it leads to something else. He played the bad guy!

KenL;

What system have you got??? My first system stayed on the shelf for more than 4 years before I hooked it up and it was sweet when I first ran it.
I don't know about you but I hate reading technical manuals. Except for a few pages, I don't think I've ever read the manual for my DT100 that came with my original set. I now have the Super Chief with the DT400.

For all you yankees suffering with the cold, its even gonna get cold here tonight!:eek: A light freeze is forecast north of here with a low near 32. We should be in the middle 30's. High near 60 tomorrow with a warm up to the 70's by the end of the week.

George;

Sorry about your friend. Frostbite can be very very bad. I worked with an internal medicine doc during my training, and he had tried to climb Mt. Ranier, and lost 7 toes to frostbite. Ouch!!!

Good morning ! from Indiana.:D

all 12 of my railway items sold on Ebay today, yeah, Robert's counting the money he can spend on new stuff for his railway.
A WORD OF WARNING to Ebayers Spoof e-mail's are getting very hard to detect, i got two today, normally i log into Ebay "My Messages" to verify if it's genuine but now, they are in "My messages" as well so you assume they are all above board, but this is no longer the case. The format is genuine and will be titled "Question from (ebay member name), item number #########" there will be a genuine item you have to click on and enter your user name and Ebay seller I.D., if you DO your in deep doo doo. so be VERY carefull when you are being asked to enter ANY information no matter how genuine it look's, your better being over cautious than a victim of fraud.

Hi All, Steve your right about that ebay stuff .I had guys ask me about my ebay listings and when you click on to response it wants your password again even though your already signed in .It looks like the real thing but it isn't so a WARNING to all you guys be careful with your accounts there are jerks out there who will try anything! George I know what your friend is feeling . I had my hans tied down during a 13 hour operation. The next week my hands felt like a thousand needles wher going through them I was then put on nerve pills and it took nearly two years for my nerves to recover ! Well hope all have a wonderful Sunday !!!!!!
