Morning all not to much happening got sinus/cold giving me a sore throat (dang you pc your giving it to all of us LOL) had to get up and suck on halls.
Not to much else going on wanted to stop and say hi.
It was 57 F and raining as I headed to work. Our high today is supposed to be 66 F but with more rain. That seems to be the pattern lately; warm temperatures and rain or cold temperatures and clear.
No modeling last night. We had parent-teacher conference for my daughter last night. Tonight we have one for my son.
I spent some time researching Cub Scout Arrow of Light ceremonies for the upcoming event. The previous administration did nothing special for Cub Scout’s highest award. They basically called the boys up during a Pack Meeting and handed them their award with no meaning or feeling. One year they didn’t even do in front of the pack as they did it at a Boy Scout meeting with no Cub Scouts present. One my Den Leaders described the old administration’s Pack Meetings as going to the dentist or as a cure for insomnia. I have hopefully changed that since we go through skits and presentations and the boys are heavily involved. We are hoping to give our AOL recipients a memorable night similar to what I remember as a Cub Scout.

Good Morning RT, Bill & Tom Jeffrey! another glorius day here on the Niagara Frontier It's 60 going down to 29 tonight . High qind warnings from 1:00 'clock on . Isn't spring grand ? But at least the latest buzz is Bush is going to give every American $5,000 each to get the economy going . And pigs fly also !!!!!!!! HAPPY APRIL FOOL"S DAY !!!!!!
A bit chilly today with the wind but, temps are in the mid-30s for now.
Tom- Good on you and the other parents looking to make sure that the Scouts enjoy those ceremonies and get a true understanding of their meaning. I remember my AOL ceremony fairly well and that was probably 20 or so years ago. I worked at a summer camp 3 years ago to finish up my college degree and was welcomed into the OA by the staff. I can truly say that it was/is an honor and took it very seriously in hopes that those Scouts that were in with me would follow suit and for the most part they did. Hopefully it will be something that they will remember for the entire life.
Happy April Oneth! I probably won't fall for any of the usual pranks today. I plan on staying inside most of the day and my cats don't know about April Fools Day........
Tom those ceremonies bring the program truly to life for the boys. I can clearly remember both my sons Arrow of Light Crossover ceremonies. When I was Scoutmaster, I always had members of the troop at the Pack meeting to welcome the new Scouts when they crossed the bridge into Boy Scouts. Often times it was the entire Troop. If the Scoutmaster wants the new boys to feel welcome nothing says that like 15 or so Boy scouts in full Uniform lined up to give the Boy Scout Handshake. One of the Packs in Geneva met the same night as out Troop. With those boys, we "stole" them away from the pack and took them to the Scout Meeting within minutes of them crossing over. The parents could pick them up at the Boy Scout meeting later. Good ceremonies and good communications makes for strong units. (As a unit commissioner, I wish the unit leaders would take this seriously!)
Carl always good to find another "brother" in the Order of Cheerful Service! I remember my "Ordeal" very well. I was Camp Director of Camp Brulé in PA. But what is permanently burned into the gray matter in my head is my night going through Vigil here in Finger Lakes Council. WWW
Hope you all have a good day and don't get fooled.......!
I feel a little better today. Not a lot, but some. Last night was tough though. I took a lukewarm shower to get my fever down as I was burning up. The wife isn't much better, but her stomach was too upset to sit for a shower. She's better today though.
I got into contact with a old friend this morning. Seems he is the guy that does the warranty work for the builder who built our house. When we scheduled someone to come out to fix a couple of minor things we had no idea we'd know the guy who came. I actually was planning on hooking up with this guy in a couple of months because I want to pour a concrete patio out back and then put a roof and sliding glass doors all around. I'm wanting to put a hot tub in there for therapy for the wife and kids (and I just get to benefit!).
Well, last nights storms through Central Indiana have made for an interesting start for the workday at the phone company. It looks like most of the major problems are delt with now, just cleaning up the little ones. Gotta love those storms. They're my job security! Everyone always says that my job is easy, until the storms roll in. And indeed, 50% of my job is just standing around waiting for stuff to happen. I mean, don't get me wrong, I find stuff to do, but I don't get to really launch into action and do what I do until the really nasty stuff starts happening. And then, NOBODY wants my job! But I love it, because thats my job....I get to help people in trouble, it's what I do.

I was in a bit of a hurry between jobs, i couldn't close the thing without clicking the mouse about a zillion times, gave me repetitive strain injury,,, almost
