It is raining and the temperature is 44 F on its way to 60 F.
Not much to report. I thought I was going to do a photo session but instead I wound up working on the script for our upcoming Cub Scout Pack Meeting next week.
Temps should be in the high 40s here the next couple of days although it may snow on Friday. Grrrr.
No trains for me last night, I finished building up my newest bicycle and took it out for it's maiden voyage. Felt great to get outside and ride again.
Well, my boy and I had a good talk last night about tomorrows events. He's as ready as he'll ever be I suppose. Also got to play another video game with him. Any of you ever played a game called "Smugglers Run"? The free roam on it is great for playing tag! You get a couple of cars and a large virtual world to roam in. Lots of fun, and low skill level required.
Carl, that sounds like it might be a good idea for the near future. Gonna have to get me a bike ready to roll!
Temperature will get into the 40s today and then turn cold with 1" to 3" of snow tonight (on top of the 1" of rain that is supposed to fall today. Got quite a bit of rain last night. Enough to flood the lawns of the neighbors across the street. I went down celar to see what is happening there and so far all is well. Just a minor seepage into the main room with the layout. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Last night I finished tweaking and printing out the paperwork for the NMRA Certificate. Just have to write a cover letter and get it in the mail to Harold Russell our AP Chair. If he says it is good, then we have to set a time for him to come over and check out the work and get everything ready to send in. Then I can get back to some scenery building (right after I make up my presentation for a clinic at the spring meet)......
Good Morning ALL ! Weather here is about the same as Ray's just get it a little sooner. had a couple power outages and just when I was getting ready to call the power company it goes back on . Go figure. Well have to go check thge house out so take care all and here's hoping that everyone has a wonderful day !!!
Morning folks. I'll have some really STRONG coffee here--black, no sugar or cream.
Just got an e-mail from the Music Director at my parish--seems the other pianist flaked out for Holy Week, so guess who gets to do it ALL! Not that I mind--we were supposed to share duties, I'd do Holy Thursday and Good Friday, she'd do Saturday Vigil and one of the Sunday Easter Masses. Now I get to do ALL of them. Whew! Think I'll just move a sleeping bag down there starting with tonight's rehearsal.
Needless to say, the engine servicing facility is on the back-burner, this week.
Afternoon yall! Storms moved thru this morning. Don't think it did much as I slept thru it all. Bad stroms will usually wake me while they are still miles away, but these didn't.
Just posted pix of new kits I've added to the roster up in Showin' off section. Dial may take a little time.
CJ: ...and a very good job at that. You've come a long way since I started teaching you.
Well everyone, my wife didn't break a bone in her wrist after all...just a very bad sprain. The GP Doc at a Family Medical Clinic was the one that suspected the break, but it took a specialist to say it was a sprain. There was a time when a GP would have known the difference. Oh well, that's better than wearing a cast 6-8 weeks for nothing.
I guess Rex, thats what they say about specialists and GP's!
A specialist knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing and a GP knows less and less about more and more until he knows nothing about everything!
Well, Rex, the difference isn't in how much they know anymore. The difference is that years ago the GP would have said, "That wrist is broken" and put a cast on it. You would have thought he was right, and she would have had a "broken" wrist......
As a student at Eastman School back in the 60's we had a kid who got a broken arm during one of our Sunday Afternoon "touch" football games out on the dorm lawn. (Well we used to call it touch......) Anyway we were pretty sure that the kids arm was indeed broken as it isn't supposed to bend at that place. Luckily, since we were part of the U of Rochester, we got "free" medical care at Strong Memorial Hospital which was part of the U of R. So he got in somebodies car (he was pretty tolerant of the pain BTW. He was a bassoon player so he was used to it.) and was driven over to the emergency room. As soon as he signed in as an Eastman student he got some "expert" care from a first year resident who evidently had never set a broken bone before. That became pretty obvious when the resident walked in and put a very big book with the directions on how to do it right next to the kid in the bed. Somehow the student survived to play again.... Bassoon that is.
Several years later I was relating that story to my own GP. His grinning answer was as an experienced doctor, the book would have been in the next room which he would have visited several times during the procedure...
Just got home from the musical practice. There is no way i am going to get everything working right and sounding good by next Wednesday....... Going to be an interesting few days. At least all the radio mics are working... more or less.
Well, today is the big day! My son and wife are getting ready to go now, so I don't have a lot of time. Just want to ask that if your the prayin' kind, please say one for my son this morning. Thanks!
Good Morning Bill & Philip !! Another typical day here on the Niagara Frontier Temps near 34 voercast and windy . It's nice to welcome the first day of Spring , Philip my prayers are with your son & wife . here's raying that all will work out for the best !Prayers to all in the Mid-West of our country after all the rains and flooding. It's Holy Thursday here also so lots to do in preperation of Easter going on . Gotta get going so here's wishing everyone a very good day !!
It was a blustery 41 F when I had to chase down the trash can lids this morning that had blown off in some of the 40 MPH wind gusts. Our high today is supposed to reach 50 F and we are under a Wind Advisory. The weather hype machine is gearing up as they are calling for the possibility of snow on Saturday and Monday.
I finally got around to doing a photo session and ran some trains yesterday.

That is probably very accurate, Ray. Years ago, I broke a bone in my wrist playing jungle rules basketball while working in Thailand. Being a government employee, I went to a U.S. military hospital to have it checked out. I wore a cast for 6 weeks and when they were removing it the Doc was studing the Xrays. What did he say? You guessed it..."Hmmm, you may have not actually broken a bone." Now this was after 6 weeks of itchy, itchy, itchy, in the burning heat and humidity of Bangkok.
Wishing the very best for your son, Philip!
Hey fellows! Hope you have a Grand Day!...you to Carey .
The LHS called yesterday to inform me that the items I ordered had arrived so I went down to the shop as soon as I was off work. I was a little surprised to bump into one of my coworkers down there though. Apparently his father is into trains so they were checking out the inventory. Always fun to "meet" someone else in the hobby when you already knew them. .
Best wishes to your son Philip, hope everything goes well.

Well, I was going to give everyone an update earlier today on my son's surgery this morning. I couldn't though because, though I can log on and read the forum from the hospital, I can't post.
Anyways, the surgery was a success! He was in surgery from 9:30am til almost 5:00pm. They had some problems (they had trouble waking him up......a symptom of the MD), but he's through it and the prognosis is good. His feet are 90 degrees to his legs for the first time in his life. He'll have about 6 weeks in the casts and then 3 months in braces day and night, then two years of braces just at night. But my son will walk, and that wheelchair that they told him was only a decade away, ......it looks like he may never see it! Thank you God!
