So I guess I will have to do some "yard" work today....... ;) ;) :D

Just having a quick brake from finishing the kitchen off, i'm putting the kick boards under the units and some other trim work around the top, then a bucket full of handles for the doors.
JoshSigned up to modelrailroad tips,,, thanks

Sorry haven't been in , in a while but been doing this and that. Basicly been sent to the shed to live for a while (LOL) not sure If I've told you all came across some good deals on a couple of Lionel trains amd couldn't pass them up well now in dog house spent about $350 in 2 days on 2 boxes of trains that look like junk ( it includes the price for parts and one engine I sent out to be reworked ($130.00 of the $350.00) its and 2343 santa fe set AA but out side looked good to vg but dirty now looks almost ex and books at $200.00 - $490 (4 year old book. ) then got a 2243 Santa Fe A/B set 2 days later with about 5 cars in need of help for $75.00 and I got it running but still needs some work I don't have tools to fix need to pull one of the drive wheels off to replace a gear that is missing a tooth. and it books at $190.00 -$265.00 plus the cars value from about $10.00 to $100.00 each so I'm doing okay she just doesn't understand something about some dumb bill is more important lol I know all bills are paid but she still is:mad:

well got room straightened up and starting to work on it little by little to get it back where I can safely set my layout up in it.

Well all take care till later

Steve You're welcome, and thanks for joining! Maybe soon I can have people posting something new weekly there!

RT Sounding good, you gonna post pictures?

The money's starting to roll in from all my Lego auctions on eBay, its like a present every day!

RT Oh Dear,,,
I know what you mean about buying a bargain,,, my CFO does NOT understand and will not understand a bargain:mad: when it has metal wheel's of any scale, I tend to buy stuff so it come's in the post on Saturday when she's in bed after a night shift :D that way no harms done and when i do get it out and she see's it she's none the wiser;)

Josh Just puting some stuff on ebay myself

The 2243 engine I put it in her hand so she could see how much it weighed and about 3 days later (yes shes a blond lol) she goes hey you know that engine you had me feel the weight of that I askd you if you were going to keep scince you said it was maid the same year you were born ? I go yeah . you must of just got that didn't you? I don't remember it. (yes some of her blond rolls off on me sleeping that close to her for the last 22 years) (If I never showed her I would not have gotten in trouble lol) Like jackie Gleason use to say I GOT A BIG MOUTH .

Guess when I get some of these back out will take some pics for you all especially when get the 2343 back then I can put A A B A together and some cars behind it and it will be about 5' long just engines and dummies. and then add the cars and I'll be about another 6' as one car 6418 (need to take a pic of this one as it has 4 sets of trucks on it) is about 16" long itself. Its an depressed flat car supose to have 2 sides from a girder bridge on it but one is missing so are the rubberbands easy fix on the bands but finding the girder isn't. Just took pic of this car so will enclose it with this post.

Red mark on rule is 16" so its 16" from coupler to coupler.

AHHHHH BUY BUY BUY! AC models is going to discontinue its product line the end of this year. He's got the only 53' spines commercialy available!
http://www.alancurtismodels.com/

I have one 53' all purpose spine coming right now. Unfortunatly at this axact moment I cannot afford to shell out $80 for another. If you can & want one, do it now before they go out of production.

For you N scalers, he's got ALOT of neat stuff...

Hi everyone. Just wanted to check in since I've been a bit preoccupied lately. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed a piece of land with several mining sites I wanted to check out. It's part of a "sportsman's club". Well, after looking the place over, I ended up joining the lease. It's a cool place in the heart of the Warrior coal fields totaling 9500 acres! The NS mainline runs thru part of it and the old L&N Cane Creek branch runs thru it as well. LGM and I are looking forward to hunting, camping, trainwatching, shooting and checking out the mine remnants. There are many mine entries along the river that are not in the USGS (or GPS) database. The guy that runs the place has lived there all his life and his father was a Sloss miner at Flat Top...

NS intermodal passing thru.

Russian Boar. These are just sows/small boars. A grown boar can easily weigh 400 lbs and sport 8" tusks. These particular hogs have been feed this summer in an attempt to manage/study them but are still very much wild. They'll scatter at the slightest movement and won't be fed much longer for their own well being. Large boars are like mature buck deer, you won't see them in this cozy little group. They're much to cagey for that.

Well Eric,it looks like you two didn't have a "boaring" time,:D at least not when it comes to railroading. LOL. I do believe you have found a great spot for watching trains, and getting in some good hunting. Boy,talk about "hog heaven":p . Sorry,Eric.I just couldn't help myself. Also,I tried to contact you by cell phone today while I was out at the platform in Irondale.Saw a lot of great train action, while there. I hope you guys had a good day too.William.

Hey William. I saw your number in the phone a little while ago. We were out in the middle of nowhere and got home late so I thought I'd just give you a ring tomorrow.

There are some great train watching spots on the property. The heated switch I posted pics of in another thread is on it as well as an old tunnel (yes, I found out it does exist, contrary to the other post), and supposedly an area the SRR dammed for a steam loco watering hole. The main camp is probably 200 yards from the NS main and elevated for a great view! Many of the District's oldest coal mines are located along the river. It's said that many are still open. Not far away is the old SSS&I Alden mining camp. The Commissary, bathhouse, etc are still in use today. Alden was used as a separate entry into Flat Top as the mining progressed far underground. Sloss built the camp in 1928 to house miners replacing the convicts that had previously been "leased" from the state. As you may recall, Flat Top is where James Knox was tortured by SSS&I guards a few years earlier and the public outcry helped forever end the convict leasing system.

This, to me, is an interesting place. 9500 acres is plenty of "roaming room" to do what we want. We're both pretty stoked about it.

:D Good play, William. Thanks for giving me my big laugh for today;) :D

Eric, you lost me. What part of the country are you in now? What river are you talking about? 9500 acres of roaming, great! Better watch out for the corn-fed boys when hunt'un season starts.:D

Grande man 9500 acres,,, that's almost as big an England, we have an ancient woodland across the road from our house and you can get lost in that, and it's not realy that big,,, we got no wild hogs but there are still some escape'ee pigs from the neigbours farm, What's the co-ordinates to the area so i can take a google earth fly over,,, this is my little place at 53 38 04.42 N by 2 38 02.98 west elv 338'
the woodlands pretty scatered about to the east, south and west. Just a short distance WSW is the main London to glasgow line

Mornin' Bill!

Grande man, that sounds like an awesome opportunity. Being part of that should keep you exploring for quite a while. Just watch out for the Boars! I hear they can get a bit nasty when provoked..... Up North we just get street gangs. This is one is from Wisconsin:

Rex, Five Mile creek and the Locust Fork run thru the property.

Steve, The boundaries are very irregular, but the camp coordinates are 33° 40.19'N, 86° 57.29'W. The property starts to the northwest of the camp around the Hollis circle/Bibby brickyard (historic site) area and runs to the southeast ending east of Brookside. Brookside and Cardiff are old mining camps. We're talking and area about 8 miles long that's up to 2 miles across in some areas.

Ray , That's a mean looking roving gang! As for the boars, I doubt they'll be a problem. I will be appropriately equipped to handle any potential problems though...;)

GM i just found the worlds supply of unit coal trains at the big power station below Flat top road near West Jefferson, boy that's a huge place, what a track plan though, i'd have to extend my garage to accomodate that one
