Mornin' Bi............. Hey where's Bill? Anyone seen him this morning. He promised more eclairs for breakfast. Oh well, just a cup of Joe, Flo.

Ken, good to see ya back. Sounds like you had a fun vacation.

Got a phone message this morning from the lady planning the party. Said she is rethinking some things....... I have no idea what that means. The only thing I would change is where it is to be held. I am not sure that many people can even fit out in my lawn.

This site was down for me this morning.

Ray - Sounds like you're going to be experiencing the old joke, "how many college students can be crammed into a phone booth" ... Good luck, sounds interesting - try shooting and posting some pics of the event if possible!

Well.... The lady and I got back together again today and trimed the list down to a reasonable level. Around 38 with several of those that probably won't be able to make the party. I think we will both be able relax a bit better now.

jbaakko, P. T. Barnum said it best. "There is one born every day."

Whew. Thanks, Bill. I've been feelin' weird all day without the morning sugar jolt. :D

Ray, we had about 35 at our recent wingding, and it was a challenge making sure I spent a "proper" amount of time "working the room." It's a RULE: The hosts are supposed to enjoy their party, too. :D

Say Bill, thanks for the midnight snack. I was having donut withdrawal all day!

Claudia, If I couldn't have fun, why would I host it? :p :D My friend (a retired Home and Careers , aka cooking teacher) was going to make a huge macaroni salad and I was going to make one of my famous Potato Salads. She also got to thinking "this is supposed to be fun and I'm making macaroni salad for 80 plus people?" This will be more fun for everybody..... :D

Mornin all,,,
Welcome back Ken, hope your feeling refreshed.

Ray you will have to get a BIG tent for the party, you can get loads of people in there and they can spill as much beer and food as they like, it will save the carpets

Josh It amazes me what people buy on ebay, and what they will pay, i'v got a Hornby truck on at the moment and it's up to £12, they are only £7 in the shops !!!! figure that out

Well i went back to the docs today as yesterday was the day from hell, the antibiotics i got Monday made me VERY ill, i don't remember when i ever felt so sick in my life, ,

Morning all,

Hey Bill do you by any chance have some bagels & cream cheese in the back room? My doc says I need to limit my sugar intake...

I had a very enjoyable evening with my 7yr-old daughter yesterday. She followed me to the trainroom [garage], where I was re-railing and testing the freightcars on which I had installed metal wheels during our week at the beach. Stephanie latched onto a few and shuffled them purposefully around the classification yard, doing the kind of "people voices" she does with her Barbie dolls. When my work was finished and I headed back into the house, she spontaneously exclaimed "Dad I really love your trains!" Hmmm, can't argue with that one ;) ...

Steve, that's a mega-bummer about your health issues. I get an allergic reaction to Bactrim [and other sulfa-based antibiotics] whenever I swallow it, makes me feel weak and nauseated. Sounds like the doc needs to find a more-tolerable substitute for whatever you've been taking! I'll add my prayers to Ray's for this to be resolved.

Later yall...

Hi KenL! Glad your back, rested, and ready to ride the rails again. What do you have planned for your next major MR project?

Darn Steve, I'm sure sorry that your still having problems. Hopefully, new meds will fix you up. Keep us posted.

Ray/Claudia: I always dread hosting a get-together. It seems that I worry so much about everyone else enjoying themselves that I forget to relax and have a good time. Usually, I am completely wornout afterwards.

Hi KenL! ... What do you have planned for your next major MR project?..
Actually Rex, I'm getting ready for a major rebuild of the ladder tracks of my classification yard (the one in front of the blast furnace). I frequently run into derailment problems there, and when I read a sidebar in the August MR by John Armstrong about yard design, I learned why: I used Atlas #4 turnouts, a big NO-NO because of their sharp angle. (I laid them >10 years ago, didn't know any better.) The current turnouts are fairly beat-up anyhow, so I may as well put them out of their misery <LOL>.

Josh - That crushed RoadRailer looks like an Alexander Calder sculpture! :D

Well that's about it for me, I'm outta here!

Wow, Ken #4's!? Sheesh good thing you're handing them over... I'm sticking to #8's and a few #6's in a few places.

On a side note, I've spent the better part of the day reworking my pelimnary design, as I did some planning today and came up with the following:
trackplan2modtext.gif

As you can see by the number of red lines (each representing a road), and the thin blue lines (backdrops), I need to do some major re-working to do some space saving, so that its looks good, & not too cluttered. I've settled on placing a 3 loop helix at the top left, and the left hand island will now angle off to the right, under the right island (which will now be considered the upper level), thus allowing way more running room on the lower portion, and pushing the Mormon rocks onto the "upper deck" although they will most likely be in an auckward spot for pictures... I'll post the new plan once I finish.

Josh that's a great looking plan, there are some great sweeping curves, the trains will look way cool going round them,,, i think i'm going to do some planning in the garage today, there's no time like the present.

BTW, have you seen the pictures of the Conrail slug and transfer caboose in the photo album's

Rex you have some excellent shot's on your railimages site sir, Great work
