jbaakko, do you have 3rd party RAM installed in the laptop? If you do, remove it and try running on just the original RAM stick. I had a similar experience with my 12" Mac G4 laptop. It would boot up, run for a little while and then have a kernal panic, die. I called the Mac Store and almost had a stroke right on the phone (Macs don't usually do those kind of things........) I had to have it running in less than a week to DJ a wedding and I was in a bit of a panic as I had done the usual maintainance stuff. They had me remove the extra Ram and it ran good as new (and just as slow..LOL). I bought new Ram and it has been stable ever since.

Good luck with it!

Good morning ! from Indiana.:D

What's happening guys,,, anything new,
We had a kid's remote control tank catch fire without warning today in the kitchen, it was a 12 volt RC thing Robert got for christmas last year, the PC board decided to self destruct without warning, it's a good job it wasn't in roberts bedroom. Lesson, don't buy electric toys made in China as the safety may be compromised to build a cheaper model, this goes for the transformers that charge the battery's as well, they get dammed hot as well.

I see Larry's a grandad
and
Ken M's got rid of his headaches
i wonder how many axles Ken L's got done on vacation
Careyhope your getting to grip's with the training manual

I'll get the drinks in, who fancy's one

Morning, or is it Afternoon Claudia

Man trapped in Chocolate VAT:eek:

KENOSHA, Wisconsin Aug 18, 2006 (AP)— A 21-year-old man was trapped in a tank of chocolate for about two hours early Friday, police said.

Capt. Randy Berner said the worker said he got into the tank at the Debelis Corp. to unplug it and became trapped waist-deep in the chocolate.

"It was pretty thick. It was virtually like quicksand," Berner said, and co-workers, police and firefighters were not able to get him out until the chocolate could be thinned out.

"It's the first time I've ever heard of anything like this," the police captain said.

The worker said his ankles were sore after the incident, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Berner said.

A sticky situation without a doubt,
Question:
1. did he eat so much chocolate when he got in that he couldn't get out again:o :o :o

or was he just unlucky:o

Oh NO. Now you've done it! Yes, I'm a chocolate lover to be sure, but that image will haunt me every time I hit the jar of chocolate-covered raisens from now on. :D

Ray the baby is "completely stock" in the way of hardware, after a few websites & a phone call (well 3) to HP, I'm pretty well set on it being the ast update for Windows XP SP2, mixed with a recent, partialy corrupt intall of Ulead Gif Animator, and using Hibernation. It crashed the 1st time about one hour after I recovered from Hibernate, and I had opened (but never used as I dont have a key) Ulead Gif Animator, the night before, just before I hibernated the computer.

I kept getting referals to disable memory programs, and check my RAM... But I don't have after market, or 1GB+ RAM, or more then 137GB on my hard drive, heck I don't even have more then 100GB less then 137GB (I "only" have 30GB on it!). I found a reference to Hibernation on Microsoft's website, and a reference to Hibernation + newly installed software on another site. Thus why I think I know what caused it.

If it comes down to it, I'll move what I can to a network storage device, I'm going to borrow from a freind, and run a SP2 reboot disk I downloaded from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994

We'll see if that works, if not, I'll shell the $99 to HP and make them fix it, I'll get a new battery, new RAM, & a new HD out of it.

EDIT As I was typing this, apparently Windows SFC (System File Checker) found a bad cluster in "DUMPde2b.tmp" which would have been created when the computer hit a stopp error!

P.S. Thanks for ruining my choclate appetite, looks like the puppy show gets ate by my wife.

Josh, sounds like you know whats going on. Good luck getting it back up and running right. I hate those kind of things........... When I turn on the computer I just want it to run and do stuff like its supposed to.

Steve, that's way more than I want to think about when I eat chocolate.

Lol, well another failed attempt. BUT I did manage to move all my pictures & website files to this computer, so if all fails, I can now re-boot with the SP2 disk...

Wow weee I've joined the world of fast internet (download anyway).
After spending $500 on wireless broadband equipment:mad: , my ISP has installed a local ADSL thingy:D , sooooo I've got 3.5Mbps download speed about 80 times faster than dialup. I had a 6 times faster connection with the wireless stuff.

Yippee Now looking at photos is a breeze!!;)

Ken.

Steve: Do you remember the Smothers Brothers? They had a song/routine about,"...I fell in a barrel of chocolate...and I couldn't get out."

Ken: Nice going on the new Internet connection. Your new download speed will really make it fun. Hey, tell us about winter and how nice and cold it is. Dang, we are burning up here in Southern U.S. and that may make me feel better.

We've had a mixed bag of weather really, Alot of rain, flooding and some land slips. Then today and most weekends lovely mild warmish 17c days.

We get some southwesterly cold polar blasts and boy are they cold sometimes with a little snow, we're expecting another on Tuesday.

So enjoy the hot weather it's just around the corner for us!!.

Ken.

Ken Looks like you'll be having alot more fun now! Except the internet gets boring alot faster when the stuff downloads so fast...

Afternoon / evening all / morning Ken

Rex don't remember the Smothers Brothers

What a day, we went and bought new doors for all the kitchen cabinets as well as two new base units and two wall unit's, all done except for an awkward door which want sawing down a bit.
We also went to a local train show at the fire service training center, as a bonus the kids got to see the firemen training in the backdraft simulator, very exciting stuff, at the train show i got a nice ATSF caboose for £3.

The weathers gone to pot, we are expecting upto 3" of rain in the next 24 hrs, that will make the blooming grass grow

have a look at this video clip from Don Burgess's web site, FANTASTIC STEAM SHOT,,, How could i have forgotten this was coming through, oh well
