Josh hows the weedkiller train coming along
Rocking pretty darn good, more pics this coming weekend. I'm hardly working at all this week. I need to build the side doors and windows, and the front window, the hardest part will be deciphering the piping on the rear deck, and the roll up door coving the front window. Anyone know where I can get soft rubber thread, kinda like the elastic stuff in underwear, but not elastic? I need a few various colors, for use on the lines on this baby, and for the MU lines when I finish the SD39/slug sets...

Ray: For me, I will probably put it off until tomorrow.LOL:D :D

I've got one in the bathroom that needs changing. Today I took the burned out compact florescent and put it in the recycling box. Tomorrow I will probably get around to looking for the case of new bulbs that I bought a month ago. Friday I have two cats to take to the Vets for their checkups. So maybe Saturday I might get a bulb back in the empty socket.......... Of course I noticed that the bulb was out three days ago, but I was busy finishing putting the ties on the new bridge.

Question: What's the biggest gripe of retirees?

Answer: There is not enough time to get
everything done.

Steve, sounds like you are on the mend!

Being retired means that it will get done when I get around to it. Glendia (my wife) gave me a round tuit about 7 years ago. It is a wooden nickel that has tuit printed on the back. LOLOLOL So tomorrow I might git around tuit

:D We have one of those. It gets traded back and forth, sort of like, "Tag. You're It."

"OK Honey. Here's your Round Tuit."

Josh just looked at your latest pics, i love the BNSF shot in the desert. As for modeling realistic pipework, over here you can get what's known as "pole elastic", fishermen use it on the carbon fishing poles they use, i'm not sure if they are used over there, if not they are basically very long lightweight fishing rod's without a reel, instead there is pole elastic down the middle, you can get all streangths to suit your fishing, there are different colours and sizes, have a look here

I'll have to look into that, thanks! (now to find a sporting good store that might carry it...), and coming in the round case like that, it looks like it'll be soft enough...

P.S. I'm posting a SDMRRM thread right now... watch for more pics...

It's VEERY flexible stuff, if you can't find any it won't cost much to post it to you in a letter if required

Josh, I just looked at your SD club pix - exquisito! Also, I can't wait to see the finished model of that weed sprayer car you're scratchbuilding from the photos...

Steve - hope your recovering from the surgery

Well, my family will be going on yet another week-long vacation this Saturday, a mini-familiy reunion at the town of Hatteras, NC, on the Outer Banks. This time I'm bringing along some MRR 'homework' - ~65 freight cars that need to have their plastic wheels swapped-out for metal ones. Just finished boxing the models for the journey, wonder how many of them I can actually get done..?

Almost done too, or, well close to done, the basic stuff.

Hey KenL, here is a photo for you before you hit the road. I will repost this in the industry section later, but thought you may want to see it. This is the Nucor mini-mill here in T-town on the old Gulf States Paper Mill land. It started out very small and now goes as far as the photo shot catches.

First the Mill;second the guard at the blue guard shack (on left side by tree) coming to run me off the property...for real:eek:

Hey Rex, i didn't know rix products made a 1ft scale corrugated building kit, nice,,, did the guard catch you

Good morning gang!

Haven't left yet, my trains are packed but my clothes aren't; I'll likely be making another post or two before I head out tomorrow morning.

Rex, nice pics of the minimill. It doesn't look like you were even on the property though - the scrap pile and EAF building are on the opposite side of the fence.[?] That guard must've had binoculars or something...

Josh, are you lettering your weed car for Asplundh Corp. like the prototype, or a tree-control company with a presence in the West (or freelance)? Inquiring minds...

Well I'd better go, I need to clear a space for Bill's doughnuts...ciao!

Howdy Ken, have a Wheely good time on vacation;)

Just done a new thread about my new satellite receiving station, take a look
