Hi dekruif! Glad you have joined us for a cup of joe, some of Bill's donuts and apple fritters, and conversation that varies by the minute. The only rule here is not to pinch Flo...a nice pat is usually welcomed with a smile.
Well good morning all I'm up and at it early this AM as the Dog decided it wanted to go early and began to whine
Oh well it's given me a chance to upload some more pics onto my new railimages site, which is turning into a most tedious process. Hard to believe the old site had 189 pics on it, some of which will not be tranfered over.
Dekruif: Welcome and feel free to poke fun at whom ever. This week I'm picking on Ray and haven't decided who next weeks live entertainment will befor all I know it could be me
dekruif, good to see you here! Feel free to pick on fergie if you want. I always do......
Trucks got to go in for service and repairs this morning. It seems to have caught a cold as it keeps coughing and f@rting (skipping and backfiring) every time it rains. Last Saturday when I pulled into Circuit City to buy the new camera, it suddenly started beeping (the beep it makes when it gets low on gas) and it had a full tank. When I restarted it after buying the camera, it beeped and said the tank was empty. Next time it was started, it was working fine. I think it is the cheap PC that they put in there someplace.
Just dropping in for a cup o' joe! Filler up, there Flo! My aren't you looking good! Gotta date??
Been helping one of our ARG cohorts, Jim McCravy, move some dirt. He has a dirt driveway, and a HUGE hole had developed in it. One of his neighbors took pity on him and dumped a load of fill into it. Trouble was he only needed about 2 tons and he got 5. We've been spreading the stuff since then and I think we're all tired of looking at the stuff! Even with a large construction wheelbarrow and several days we've just got a little more than half moved.
Alot of hard work!
Welcome to the forum dekruif! Talked to ya a couple o' times on the other side. I think you'll like it here better. I see ya like the SRR. So do I. I prefer the old steam days myself but do allow a few di-easles to reside with the steam.
Thanx fer da coffee Flo! Don't do anything on yer date I wouldn't do!
(Course right now, that wouldn't be too much!)
Here's a pic for ya dekruif! This was taken on my last trip to Saluda in 2004. Its at Melrose, the very bottom of the grade. Look at the condition of the rails. They used to be very, very shiney from the traffic. Now they are very rusty and looking rather forlorn. The grade has been shutdown now for almost four years. At that time there was very visible signs of deterioration of track, and roadbed. NS will have to do a lot of work to reopen it. I just hope it happens.
Carey get some of that horse linament rubbed into the bones, you'll feel fine tommorow,,, I know how you feel, i packed 11 ton's of truck brake drums and 2 ton's of truck springs last week for New Zealand, boy i was sore next day
Ray i like older auto's as they are easier to fix.
Fergie i saw some great semi trucks that would fit in purrfect on the M.E.S.S.They were a super sexy pink colour
Me too. I remember the days when I drove VW Bugs, I could fix almost anything with a screwdriver and a Cresent wrench. I had to many times on the road. Of course most of the ones I owned had well over 100,000 miles on them before I bought them. Used to love the early Bugs with a hand choke. I had to drive 50 or 60 miles home several times using the high idle on it to get home after the gas cable to the carburator broke.... Those were fun times!
Turns out they put new spark plug wires, rotor, and cap in my '02 Dakota which was a lot less expensive than I feared and it seems to be running great right now. Hope that is it!
Mornin' Bill! Looks like your all set to celebrate today.
Thanks, Fergie!
We usually have a major fireworks display at the lake today. I can see most of the high bursts from my side deck. So I will watch from here rather than fight the traffic to get down to the park at the lake or some other spots where you can get a better view. Other than that, I have some scenery to work on on the layout and a whole lot of other things that need to get done.
I went to my son's house last night for a picnic dinner on their new deck and helped him with some wiring in their bathroom that he was doing himself. He had a switch directly across the circuit and was blowing fuses....... I asked him if his fire insurance was up to date. He was trying to bring the bathroom wiring up to codes by installing an AFCI outlet. The house was built in the late 1800s and so the wiring is a mess and has been done by many different people who probably didn't know what they were doing. It still has a fuse box for the main breaker box. Anyway, this outlet and switch are now done correctly and is up to code......
Sheesh what a 4th, its rained here in AZ all weekend, not much fun when you can't go outside. And when you go to IHOP and they're out of everything you want, and Golden Corral was SLOW last night and they wern't even busy... What a cruddy weekend, But I picked up 3 of Norscot's CAT tractors from K-mart.
Just waiting for the sun to go down so we can catch the neighborhood pyrotechnics. My kids wanted to go to a neighbor's and watch them from there instead of us driving into the city and watching the "professional" ones. Works for me, I can live without the congested traffic!
Thanks Fergie for the national well-wishes, and a HappyFourth to all!
Well the fireworks here in Kingman AZ got canceled due to the rain & lighting. Oh well, not much of my thing anymore... BUT I did manage to get a freind back into model railroading . I had the new(er) Model Railroader on the table, and he saw it, flipped through it, and went on eBay later in the day and ordered an N scale engine, & some track. I'll refer him here...
