Mornin' Bill...... Oppps! Good afternoon Bill!

Just turned my computer on as I just got home from a "Hike for Scouting" event down at the local State Park. I was there providing sound for announcements and DJing for the morning. Only problem was the "current bush" died and there was no juice. Power came on 15 minutes before the end of the event. Oh well, I was fun anyway. Rained with a cold breeze all morning. Now that it is over, the sun has come out. Typical Scout event around here. LOL

Too cold and wet to do outdoor stuff this afternoon, so I guess I will have to go work in the yard.

Josh, from what I've been reading, I guess you're preparing to make the transition from military to civilian life. Too bad you couldn't take that chauffeurring job, but being ex-Navy myself I realize you can't just walk in and give your CO "2 weeks notice":D I've always thought San Diego was one of the highest cost-of-living regions in the U.S., being on the Pacific coast as it is. Baltimore/Washington isn't cheap either, home prices have risen to obscene levels since I bought my current property 6 years ago. Being able to tap-into that VA assistance is a great thing, I never could have made it into home ownership myself without it.
Yeah, thats what I'm doing, its quite annoying, cause they allways say "apply early" but I seem to get that response the most.

As for San Diego, yes, its was considered the Most Expencive city in the US last year, I beleive. Although, the military allowance for housing is $1598 a month, Boston area rakes in $1695 and there was another, can't remember where, that rakes in $2200!!!

Oh by the way, BNSF seems to be switching the Miramar local around 1PM on Fridays, so I'm gonna have to get my butt out there and do some shooting! Hearing the horn yesterday spawned a model RR dream last night...

......(P.S. I'm sure Claudia can verify some of these values in the SD area, and the cruddy mornings this past week...)
Absolutely, Josh. You nailed it. Single-income young families are a rarity here --- those of us who moved here and bought houses 30+ years ago were blessed by timing and economic conditions in the pre-inflation and growth era. As for the cruddy mornings, we woke this morning to a strange blue color in the sky, and a weird, bright light outdoors, for the first time in a month! Whoopee!!!!!!! :) That usually doesn't happen 'til after the 4th of July, especially near the beach.

Guys we had 10 weeks of those grey days with just a peek now and then of that big yellow thing. Now beautiful chrisp morning frosts and lovely sunny clear days. This morning will be the 14th I think.

Ken.

Hey, you guys! Send some of that rain down here to Bama Country. We have only had one decent rain in about two months. My grass is almost brittle and there is no way I can afford to water it with the high rates we have. I get a dollar charged for sewage for every dollar of water up to $37 water.

You want rain? Please... Take ours! It's been non stop for 10 days and we're looking at rain until Thursday:(

Thank Goodness I'm on cycle until the 22'nd!:D Let the "Other" cycle drown like rats!!!

Later All and happy thoughts

Fergie

Evenin' there clubbers! Hi, Sabrina...Didn't I see you earlier? No, I guess not then...:)

Just got in from a little town, about 70 miles from B'ham. Spent most of the day there. Esp, at the small church which a picture of I have attached.

Today brought back a flood of memories, as my family and I attended the wedding of my niece. Reminded me of my wife's and I's own wedding, 32 yrs ago.

The wedding was my sister's only child, and the groom is a Navy man. He's in the submarine force, on an attack sub. Talk about a typical southern, summer wedding! Steamy hot outside, with an overcrowded church, fans flickering to prevent the old ladies from gettin' "the vapors", cause the bride was so beautiful! (And she really was too!:D) Her Mom and Dad were about as nervous as the bride and groom, and our family there with more kinfolk than at the last five family reunions put together! The sun and sky was gorgeous, as were the "yungin's" getting married.

Congratulations and Best Wishes to Mr. & Mrs. David Ratliff.

Carey: Beautiful Church. I like that style much more than these fancy modern looking ones. I'm just old school, I guess.

Fergie: I will be glad to take several barrels of rain off your hands. They just said on the weather that it may be 7 more days without any significant rainfall.

FYI: Temp forcast for Sunday 97F, Mon 96F-- now add humidity of 80%+

Morning all,

Carey that's very good news sir, pass on my best wishes.

Rex it's rained a lot recently here but the reservoirs are still very low for the time of year

it's only 10.30am but it's over 80f and it's set to rise to 88f later with a very small chance of very dramatic thunderstorms and maybe a tornado, hopefully not though, i always recond tornado's only happened in the pan handle but we have had some prety big one's over recent years, the last over Birmingham (UK) which tore down brick houses and tree's and threw cars everywhere, things are changing.

how about this for an outhouse, i spotted it yesterday and thought
"that would make a good project to model"

Mornin' Bill!

Carey, My congratulations on your niece's wedding. May it be a long and happy one!

Steve, nice outhouse. I wouldn't stay in there if a twister is on its way though........ ;) I have been through one tornado back 26 years ago in western NYS. They are NOT fun! Hopefully it will stay with "just a very small chance" and not turn into a bad situation.

Rex, sure must be nice to live in the South with all its warmth and sunshine..... ;) I think I will stay up here in the North. I'm one of those strange Yankees that actually likes snow. :D Stay cool! Sounds like a good day to "play" with your trains.

I recorded a concert for a local string quartet last night. These are now College/High School aged kids who are absolutely incredible musicians. Several are planning for professional careers as musicians. Whoa! What a sound! It was a privilege to be asked to record them. This one will be fun to mix! And I get paid too...

Ray: When I win the lottery, I will purchase a home in your part of the country for the summer and keep this one for winter:D.

Steve and all: Try this video for a very bad F4 tornado. This thing came through Tuscaloosa on a Saturday in December 2000 and killed 11 people. When the video starts, the tornado is located right beside the Community College that I worked at. We didn't have any damage to the college, but 2 were killed on the highway in front of it. Hundreds of homes were destroyed. I lived on a high hill near the back and side of this thing and when the clouds cleared, I could see all the damage with my binoculars. Very Scary!

FYI: Because this happened on a Saturday and near Christmas, most people were away from their homes shopping. Otherwise, the death toll would have been in the hundreds.

You mean kinda the reverse of the Northern Snowbird? That is one awful Tornado BTW! Glad I wasn't any where near that one!

Rex - Tuscaloosa seems to get a lot of bad tornados. I guess we have been lucky here in Anniston........so far.

Stan.

Yes fellows, it was a very bad day. My nephew, a State Trooper, was traveling on Highway 82 (one highway over from my college) when it crossed about a mile in front of him. He immediatly got a call to go to the scene of the worst hit...a mobile home park. He had to walk about a half mile to get to it and his description of the dead and injured was horrible.

Stan: Yeah, we certainly have had more than a share dancing around here. West Alabama seems to catch them more than average.

Good morning crew,

Rex that much have been terrifying to watch, wondering if it was going to come at you  Tornadoes have also been hitting Maryland more frequently lately. One of the teachers at my daughter's high school lost 2 of her daughters a few years back when an F3 picked up their car and mangled it with them in it.
