Good Morning All

Thanks Bill!

Well it's going to be a busy one today as I have 13 trays of flowers to plant and a host of other things to do before I return to the ship come Thursday.

After finishing the coaling tower I realized I need a Sanding facility so that's something I'll have to fit into a postage size parcel of non-existant realestate!

Finding the time to do this is another thing as the garden is occupying great gobs of time.

Printed off the Tsunami Guides and will have to find time for that too.

This is getting crazy folks!

Later All

Fergie

Mornin' Bill!

Fergie, I feel your stress. I want to get a vegetable garden in this year (the rabbits in the area need food too ya know). I haven't been able to get one in for the last 3 years because of family responsibilities (my Mom who passed away last spring). For the life of me I can't seen to find time to do all the stuff needed to get ready to rottotill the garden. It will happen before Memorial Day!

Later!

Fergie as for having time to do things,,,thats non existant at the moment, but today i thought what the heck and went chasing steam trains around the north west in the rain, a great day was had by all, i even got a "Rock Island" box car from a shop in Carnforth, then once home i ordered an Indian takeaway for delivery (let them do the driving) very tasty curry as well

Good morning ! from Indiana. :D

I had a full sized Cross Buck with the flashing lights mounted on a pole. I hooked up some 12 volts auto lights and a good friend helped me rig an alternating flasher system. Whenever I had a model RR event here at the house I would roll out the unit and set it on the front porch or in the yard according to the weather. I needed the space in my garage for more tools so I sold it this past winter. I miss the unit but do enjoy my wood lathe that is sitting in its sapce.
Leg;
This was a complete one that Jefferson County had placed in the scrap yard as the RR crossing it protected was part of a regional carrier that went bankrupt and was successfully abandoned and scrapped. The lenses are perfect, wiring was intact to the lights, even the bulbs were still in the signals, etc. The only I didn't get was the pole it was attached to. I got the crossing signs, the lights system and mounting bar with all the hardware, the base, and even the finial for the pole. The only thing this signal needs is a pole to be mounted on and a new paint job. There was hardly any rust on it anywhere.:D I hated to get rid of it but I had a choice, signal put together and a much smaller layout, or the layout I wanted. I took the layout.:o

One of our club members at the time was a utility supervisor for the county, and he took the club out to the scrap yard and let us get what we wanted.
Just about everyone got a signal, crossing signs, etc. County was happy to get rid of them as there wasn't any scrap dealer that wanted their business. Too much paperwork!;):p

Carey i wish we had a scrap dealer like that here, all i got from a site clearance on the west coast main line was a warning sign for the pedestrian crossing, all the good stuff was ripped out by machine and crushed or smashed to bits
Skypeeee's. i still don't have a mike on the new pewter so it's pointless for me to set it up yet, i'll be able to listen but i would have to e-mail reply's which would be a pain in the butt, I'll be back though

CJ there was a signal that I would have kept if I could have gotten one and that was a Wig-Wag signal they took out in Sullivan Indiana a couple of years ago. There is a signal maintianer for the Indiana Railroad that is on a e-mail list that i am and he met me there to turn the signal on so I could get some Pix before it was removed. Wig-Wag trains out west is using one of my photos on thier website. The pix I use for my avatar is that signal. I never got a pix of the train coming thru so he took one for me to use as my avatar before they rmoved the signal.
here is a link to the full sized photo

Hi gang,

Bill that's mighty generous of you to keep bringing in those doughnuts, but I can't eat them because I've got...umm...a "sugar problem". Is there any chance you could bring in a tray of bagels with creme cheese?:o

I didn't even go online at all the entire weekend, I was rushing to get my layout looking presentable - but of course I discovered some last-minute projects that just had to be done so I didn't get as far along as I'd planned [sound familiar?]. Anyway I hope to start "shooting" this evening; time's a-wastin', gotta get moving!

Fergie - that's an impressive ToDo list you have there. I'd post mine too, except (1) it keeps growing every millisecond and (2) the priorities always get shuffled around.

Steve - Don't worry about the Skype thing, I haven't had time to be online to use it myself anyway! BTW can I expect to see a Burgess video of the steamer you chased this weekend?;)

. . .
Well I'd better get back to doing what my employer pays me to do...!:o C-ya

Mornin' Bill! Thanks for the doughnuts! On every third street corner of every American city there is a donut shop. On no street corner in any American City is there a broccolli shop. It should be clear. Humans prefer donuts!

Fergie, lokes like you got a lot of that "to do" list finished. Hey by Wednesday Night you might be able to at least look and make sure that train is still there.:D

Ken, just wait til you retire if you think working keeps you busy......

Hi everyone! Hope your Monday has been going well...at least for a Monday:rolleyes:. Nothing much to report from here other than summer is back and getting hotter each day. Anyone have a cabin in the mountains that I can use during the summer...with a layout...for free:D.

KenL: I checked out your new photos. Looking good, my man. I can't wait to see the whole show after the convention.

Fergie: You are going back to work to be off:D :D

Ray: Your so right about being busy in retirement. It is easy to get overwhelmed with all the things you want to do...and things others want you to do:eek:.

Hi crew,

Just a quick post-n-run...

Thanx Rex and Steve for the kind feedback on the latest Iron Belt blog photos [which IMHO were nothing spectacular], I figure I better stick something into that thread to keep it alive.

Steve - thanx for posting the Burgess video, that appears to be an 'archive' clip - is it the one you were chasing last weekend (or an identical unit)?

Fergie, here's another TooDoo just for you: "Meet with consultant to formulate MESS fleet modernization plan":D

Ray - I'll consider myself lucky if I can actually afford to retire at age 67, pension benefits here aren't nearly as generous as they were for people who hired-on 30 years earlier...:(

. . .
Well, back to the ol' homestead, and the continuation of the Grand De-Clutter! [GM, note there is no "e" on the end <LOL>!]

Hi all. Just checkin in. Sorry I haven't been around to much lately. I've been riding a good bit. Everyone doing well? :)

Here's a pic from earlier today that LGM took. Makes me remember my roots. ;)
