Good morning everyone! Flo, you're looking mighty fine today. I like the halter top. How about a late breakfast of over easy eggs and bacon. Oops! forgot about my high "C". Just make it a stack of pancakes with a load of butter and a quart of syrup on top, sausage on the side. (Maybe not that either.)
Had a very good day yesterday with Cjcrescent and Jimmy coming over from Birmingham for an Op session. Even got Jimmy, an "N" scale guy, running for several hours. Being an opportunist, I also got them to help get my big screen TV to the shop...thanks guys. Gads, what a shock on the eyeballs to go from a 50" to a 19" screen. Anyway, it is not long lasting since the shop already called and said it was fixed eek:$247.00 )
Trevor: You know that you planned for that East grade in the "J". You have just forgotten.
MMmmm-Mmmmm! Love the stuff! Had it every Sunday morning, while I was growing up! Along with Bacon, Fried egg, sunny side up and potato scons Couldn't beat it!
By the way I'm home after a nice gentle crossing from St John's.
I was tempted to starty a thread with this, but since its copied from the Walthers news update:
"Modeling Tips & Tricks
Add a Rail Banked Line to your Layout
“Rail banked” railroad lines are abandoned lines and right-of-ways that have been preserved for future service. While there are currently no shippers on the line, there may be great potential for new or reactivated shippers. Many of these lines may still have their track intact and can make interesting additions to any layout.
Adding a rail banked line to your layout is easy. If the line has been recently embargoed, simply paint the rails to look rusted over and add grass and weeds to the ballast and between the rails. If you want to add a line that has been out of service for a long time, paint the ties (if visible though the weeds) a silvered wood color and add a couple of young trees poking up between the ties. Other scenic details to complete the scene include dilapidated telegraph lines, mileposts, dispatcher telephone boxes, broken or turned signals, and paved-over grade crossings."
Interesting huh? Anyone want to attempt this and post it to modelrailroadtips.com?
Lady Railfan- did I miss your report on the train excursion?
Flo- a large, COLD glass of OJ this morning, please. The day be warming to the mid 90's again.
Tell me about it, Mike. We had 97 yesterday before some scattered clouds moved in. Gads! It was miserable, but after a shower last night (first rain in 4 weeks) and cloudy skies this morning it isn't too bad today.
Hope all of you have a great day and a better tomorrow.
Least our railroads are on the inside (least most of em) and not out baking in the sun. I think we (ky) skipped spring. Went from 50-60 degree highs into 90 degree days ..
Same thing happened up here in the North this year. One day I had to have the heat on and the next I put the air-conditioner in after the house was 95 at noontime. Been raining for the last several days and so the garden is pure mud. So much for getting the fence done. Today is in the low 70's but feels like 80 due to about a 105% humidity. If it wasn't for the major recording I am doing tonight and the backload of production and live sound this time of year it would be a great excuse to work on the layout.
Hello folk's, big day tommorow, there are Two steam locomotives on fan trips tommorow taking seperate routes about 30 miles apart, hopefully we'll see both as they are about an hour apart. Fergie i could just eat that right now, egg's are in plentyfull supply as i'm looking after my neigbours flock of chickens, i get to keep all the eggs as payment, Mmmmm,
Mornin' Bill! The little woman got you on a diet or somethin'? Haven't been any doughnuts here in several days now. I'm starting to get the shakes.......
Got a call yesterday from the LHS. My Walther's #7 curved turnout has arrived and since it's raining here I think I may go down and spend some money.
I'd like some nice fresh coffee, a big serving of yo' grits, some bacon and nice buttered toast. Throw a couple o' eggs on it, sunnyside up!
Well been working a lot on the layout. Finished all the basic benchwork and staging yards sub roadbed. Now if the rest of the stuff will get here, I can finish them and place the plywood for the main yard over the staging sections and start connecting the two with track. Think its time to take a day off and get some fishing in. Plan to go to the lake tomorrow and see if the bass are hungery!
As soon as I get get all the tools off the benchwork, so it can be seen, I hope to get some pictures posted.
Anyone fancy a ginger beer, just got a 3 for the price of 1 offer, very tasty stuff, just wondering if i'll go out for another steam fan trip tommorow, i recon it's a good excuse to down tool's
WOHO! I feel privilaged, I drove 20 miles from San Diego to Escondido, CA to a Mikey show (local radio morning show, Rock 105.3) event today. Well they were handing out "P1 Army" stickers (its a Mikey show/Rock 105.3 thing for dedicated listeners), and the first 105 people for a P1 Army t-shirt, I got #100!!!! I timed that one perfect, got to meet the crew, and got free No Fear energy drinks, and signed up for a $1000 prize, and also a Free Lift kit prize (for trucks). Well worth it...
